macjeff Posted February 19, 2022 Posted February 19, 2022 So I see there is no migration but if I move everything from old ISY Zwave to zoo stick and then do the ISY migration to polisy shouldnt it work. My issue is resetting these devices is a pain (some are locks and they dont reset easily) Would appreciate it if anyone could write up step by step to migrate z-wave without an official migration. If its not easy I may hold off on moving to ISY on Polisy

If its not easy I may hold off on moving to ISY on Polisy In the past week I moved both my sites over to IoP and both sites had some Zwave, although not a lot. One site has 4 Zwave devices, inuding 1 Schlage lock and the other has 3 Zwave devices. All in all it was fairy easy. Plug in the Zooz Zwave stick, select Zwave on the configuration page and reboot. Next place IoP in exclude mode, and exclude a Zwave device. Followed by include Zwave device. Each site took less than 10 minutes.
macjeff Posted February 19, 2022 Author Posted February 19, 2022 I have seen some posts about upgrading the firmware on Zooz stick. I have tried on PC and Mac using their Simplicity Studio. cant figure it out. Did it work for you? now back to the original question- So I exclude from ISY 994i, and then include on the IOP? Will take a while but I can do it. Jeff

I questioned Michel about upgrading firmware of Zooz stick and he replied that UD has not tested the updated firmware with IoP and suggested not upgrading. I followed the suggestion and stayed with the firmware the stick came with. 7 hours ago, macjeff said: now back to the original question- So I exclude from ISY 994i, and then include on the IOP? I wanted to add - Once you have included your Zwave devices in IoP, you can either disable or delete them in ISY994. Also, once done, I ran Zwave - Update Neighbors.

And one other thing. I read you can have existing devices on ISY on Polisy before you do restore of the old ISY and they wont be deleted. Would you restore ISY first and then do z-wave or get them all working while old ISY is up and running and then restore the backup. Just confused.

Would you restore ISY first and then do z-wave or get them all working while old ISY is up and running and then restore the backup. Just confused. Whenever you add a Zwave device, it is best to exclude then include all on the device you want to add the Zwave devidc to. The way I proceeded was to leave ISY994 alone and exclude using IoP, then include on IoP. After all devices were included on IoP, you can disable or delete in ISY994. The Zwave device in ISY994 will no longer work because a Zwave device can only be synced on one Zwave controller, hence why the exclude is done as first step on new controller. Any Zwave device connected to IoP will be deleted if you restore a backup from ISY994 to IoP. Since the backup doesn't handle Zwave, Zwave is disabled automatically when you complete the restore steps. You need to enable Zwave and then save and reboot. It's not hard, just follow the script originally posted by UD.

I had to guess at a couple of install steps, but they made sense so things went pretty much per the instructions. The main difference was that when doing the "Install by Technology Type" I selected "32-Bit and Wireless MCU's" Not all. This seems to have worked as I was able to do the update and under "Tools" Z-Wave PC Controller" is an option. Here are the steps I took. These are from memory, so I may have missed a step or two, but this should get you most of the way there. 1.) Register an account with Silicon Labs 2.) Install Simplicity Studio https://www.silabs.com/developers/simplicity-studio 3.) Accept the License and log in using the credentials you created 4.) Click "Install" and Select "Install by Technology Type" 5.) Check "32-Bit and Wireless MCU's" then click "Next" (This will take a few minutes to complete.) 6.) Select "Auto" & Accept the license agreement 7.) Open Simplicity Studio and click on "Tools" 8.) Select "Z-Wave PC Controller" and install the new firmware I tested and these steps are correct. That said, I also had problems upgrading initially because of a bad Zooz adapter. Zooz is kindly replacing. Regarding the Zooz 7.17 fw, I haven't noticed any difference from 7.15.
Techman Posted February 19, 2022 Posted February 19, 2022 UDI does not recommend updating the Zooz Zwave dongle firmware at this time as their development is based on the firmware the dongle shipped with.
