ISY is working normally but showing as not connected in the ISY Portal

This morning I wanted to change something on my Son's ISY (5.0.16) using remote login credentials of his ISY Portal account and I was not able to access it.  I can enter his ISY Portal account and it shows that he ISY is not connected.

The ISY is working normally, executing its programs, and it also sends programmed emails to confirm certain actions.

Does anyone hs an idea why this ISY is working normally but showing as not connected in the ISY Portal ?

Has he changed anything with his internet connection or router?  did the cable get unplugged somehow?

If the answers are no and no, then the next step would be to have him reboot the ISY.  Once you can get into it, the error log may have clue about why it went offline.

Has his subscription expired?

Thanks good ideas.  He lives only a few minutes from us and I will go by today or tomorrow.

I checked that to make sure and I actually renewed it 2 weeks ago. Maybe the ISY needs a reboot after renewing the Portal account ?

I've never had to reboot

Just for information, this morning I went to my Son's home, connected locally to his ISY and did a reboot. Now the ISY is again accessible remotely, including in ISY Portal.

This has never happened before. If it ever happens again, I will just ask my Son or daughter-in-law to power cycle the ISY.

@asbril glad the reboot worked. But sounds like it might be a network related issue rather than just a power cycle issue. Does your son know if his router (auto) upgraded firmware in the recent days? Even though the ISY was sending out notifications it might have had good outbound traffic, but not inbound traffic somehow and the reboot put it back on the network right.

Like @lilyoyo1 I've not had to reboot the ISY just because the portal subscription renewed (as you seemed to imply being the only difference).

My guess it was more a network related issue that might pop up again. I've seen this kind of issue with Netgear routers and firmware upgrades over the last 12 months. It's really played havoc with wireless printers and desktops/laptops not seeing the local printer as being online.

But glad it's working as expected again, and was a simple fix.

My Son is very smart in business but I bet that he does not know the difference between a modem and a router, and it is doubtful that he would know anything  about a firmware update :-) .

@asbril

Need the error log.

With kind regards,
Michel

Michel, if it ever happens again then I will try to remember to get my Son's ISY log, but the reboot resolved the issue.
