jkraus Posted April 27, 2022 Posted April 27, 2022 long time isy user, Polisy is on order. Will be moving some of my failed devices form Insteon. For a few bulbs I was looking at wifi smart bulbs that also could be controlled via a node server install. any/best suggestions?

For a few bulbs I was looking at wifi smart bulbs that also could be controlled via a node server install. any/best suggestions? So for Smart Bulbs I'm using Philips Hue. I bought a Philips Hue Bridge to control the bulbs. But you can also use the Hue Node Server or ISY Network Resources. Currently I'm just using Network Resources to turn Hue scenes on and off. For me, the colored smart bulbs are mainly just for accent lighting. Any real light control done thru ISY, keypads or switches I prefer normal incandescent or LED bulbs.
jkraus Posted April 27, 2022 Author Posted April 27, 2022 OK, but since Insteon is no more and I have an inline insteon controller gone bad, I have no way to control our outside wall lamp (the inline was installed in the lamp base), so I am at a loss of how to get it back to isy controlled light, so though a wifi smart bulb that has a node server would be the easiest solution. Any other suggestions?

To be clear, the Philips Hue Bridge is required to use the Hue Node Server or ISY Network Resources. 1
jkraus Posted April 27, 2022 Author Posted April 27, 2022 I saw KASA had a node server and I have some other Kasa devices so though their smart bulb may work
vbPhil Posted April 27, 2022 Posted April 27, 2022 I'm looking at moving from Insteon to Z-Wave or ZigBee and probably get the Hubitat Elevation controller. Polisy IoP is tested with z-wave ZooZ 700 controller stick so that is a safe way to go if you like z-wave. I guess it depends on how big your system is and what you need to do with it. For me it's mainly another hobby to play with, although the convivence of home automation is great.

It treats my Kasa devices pretty much like they are Insteon devices. I have to believe you should be able to easily use their new $10 smart bulb with no problem at all. If you go down the Node server lists, you'll see all currently compatible systems. You would just pick a bulb from one of those Edited April 27, 2022 by lilyoyo1
