PG2 vs PG3 (new Polisy)

I bought a Policy a couple of weeks ago and have it all setup with a few node servers. I love it! BUT I've just discovered it was all setup on PG2. I followed the instructions to migrate to PG3 and 2 of my node servers now show up in PG3. But it appears some node servers I were using on PG2 are now a cost option on PG3 so didn't migrate? I just spent nearly $500 and I have to now spend another $100 to get these node servers that were free on PG2? Also I can't seem to remove the two I did migrate from PG2. Its pretty confusing to me, any help would be appreciated. Thanks Eddie

So one of the biggest changes with PG3 is that the developers, people like you and me, can now be compensated for all the work they put in building first the PG2 node servers and now the PG3 node servers. The money you pay goes directly to the developer, not UDI.

Personally I'm happy to give something back, and they ask for very little. Plus they not only developed the node servers, but often provide amazing support for free. It's a hard deal to beat.

Glad you are liking your Polisy!

to add to @kzboray PG3 is the new iteration and is here to stay, and there will be a day coming that PG2 will shut down and be disconnected.  Due to PG2's design it uses a lot of resources.

and to reiterate, the developers that receive the money paid are not employees of UDI and are not otherwise compensated, they are just users that know how to write python programs that developed the node server.

Does anyone know if there are instructions to remove PG2?  I have everything I want on PG3 now.

@EJones01 and @Adam Ant I think PG2 is still needing to at least exist on the Polisy for now. It will probably change in the future.

If you’re just wanting to remove node servers, they can be deleted and uninstalled through the web access for PG2.

A little more detail on removing Nodes from PG2:

Go to the PG2 Node Server Store. You should see an Uninstall button next to each Node you have installed.

I don't remember the details now but IIRC PG3 depends on some database module that is being eliminated and then new updates will remove common Linux db modules.

Thank you!  I see in the admin tool that PG2 was marked as "depreciated".  In my experience with software development, that typically means it is no longer used.  Sounds like we aren't quite there yet.  Thanks again!!

Yeah, I think it's just used this this case to indicate that it won't get further update/development. However, as @larryllix points out there are some database dependencies in play that will eventually be removed.
