I have no problem adding and removing Z-wave switches to my IoP, but form the device configuration screen, I can see where you can set the values for Fade Rate, but cannot get the changes to write. Is there a special procedure for this?

That would be device specific when it comes to zwave. You need to check the online manual for your device and see what the parameters are and then set them

Unlike with INSTEON devices you need to set config parameters. The AC won't do the work for you like with a 2477D.

And even then from what I can see, you still need to set ramp up targets with the Zooz switches in the ISY command.

They were finally purchased. There are a few discussions on the Smarthome channel forum 

Since we are discussing the Insteon comeback in a single thread over in the Smarthome section, and this thread was dormant for two weeks prior to drifting off topic, it looks like a good time for @Geddy to lock it.
