Ultraloq Smart Lock?

I just impulsively bought a Z-Wave Ultraloq (lightning deal on Amazon) - I don't see that anyone in these forums has used or installed one - is there anyone who knows about these?  (Looking to get some additional ways to unlock the door besides a key or a code (fingerprint, bluetooth phone proximity auto-unlock?) and to replace a possibly failing Schlage lock

I installed the Ultraloq Pro Z-Wave and it is recognized by the Polisy+Zooz ZST10 - communication is much improved vs the old Schlage BE469 (probably due to it being z-wave plus vs old z-wave 300) - it reports battery % and lock status and can be commanded to lock and unlock via the Polisy - overall it has a lot more features than the Schlage BE469, but I am unsure if I can re-key it to match my other two Schlage's - the fingerprint feature is nice as it makes entry easier for those coming in the front door - will continue to evaluate...

Interesting to learn.

Might look into this - https://www.reddit.com/r/homeautomation/comments/poeff3/rekeying_the_ultraloq_ubolt_pro/

Which sent me here - https://support.u-tec.com/hc/en-us/articles/360056461591

You had me interested in this lock until the support site says they're using Schlage. All my doors are currently Kwikset knobs and deadbolt. Wouldn't want to change out the whole house right now and I've had issues with Schlage in the past that I can't get my wife to be on board with trying them again.

Good luck with the re-keying process.

JTsao,

Thank you for the post.  I had bought the WiFi version of this lock for my daughter when she purchased her new condo last year.  She loves the smartphone/alexa integration as well as the fingerprint access (2 room mates).

I'm not a WiFi fan and was exited when I saw the Zwave Plus V2 lock become available earlier this year.  I was just waiting for the correct post to push me into buying it.  Your post got me moving.

Like you, I have 2 Schlage (original) BE469 deadbolts.  The high maintenance unit is located in the garage ~ 75 feet from the ISY in my basement.  The garage is also lined with foil backed foam on the inside, and stucco on the outside (Faraday cage).  My zwave access is through the door window between the house and garage.   I was constantly moving repeaters around hunting for the sweet spots to made the garage deadbolt reliable.

I installed the Ultraloq Pro Z-wave deadbolt yesterday.  I have only the ISY994, so I chose to pair the lock with Home Assistant and the same Zooz ZST10 that you used.  It took roughly 30 minutes to install, setup on the phone APP, and pair with Home Assistant.  The real kicker was that I included the lock in the garage location with my Rpi4 home assistant 90 feet away in the basement.  I was astonished.  I could not believe that it could be that easy.  All the years of fighting with the Schlage using multiple repeaters, including with extension cords/cat 5 extensions so that I could include "in place", and the Ultraloq included in place with 2 Zooz Z77 switches as repeaters.

The cherry on top is that the Ultraloq comes with a door sensor (magnet) to detect when the door is actually closed.  I programmed it to autolock 5 minutes after closing.  I had been using my ELK-M1 door switches to tell the ISY994 when the doors were closed.  My programs on the ISY would then lock the door after 5 minutes and indicate the status on various KPLs.  The ELK integration was one of the things that was keeping me from moving to the Polisy.  I was worried that I would not be able to accomplish the same integration/timing on the new platform.  No longer a concern.

At this point, the second Ultraloq is on order (front door - easy one).  Just need to figure out how to "back communicate" lock status to the ISY994 so my KPL security monitors display properly.

Thanks again for the push in the back,

IM

I bought and installed a 2nd Ultraloq on my back door - I tried putting the lock cylinder from my Schlage BE469 into the Ultraloq but it is slightly too large to fit - after some research, I see that the Ultraloq cylinder drawing on their website exactly matches the drawing for a "Prime Line E 2103" lock cylinder at Amazon - not a good quality cylinder but regardless the fingerprint and code access combined with z-wave and other features is definitely nice enough for me to overlook the keying issue for now...

  • 2 weeks later...

I purchased a Ultraloq Pro Zwave back in June to replace one of my Schlage units.  When it arrived I removed and re-keyed the lock cylinder to match my current key which was pretty straight forward and then paired with my ISY. This part was a bit problematic as it would not pair when installed in the door (I was hopefully optimistic this would work but has never with my Schlage and Yale locks) but it would not find it so I moved it next to my ISY and finally paired after running and exclude then then running an include again.  The lock worked fairly well, as good as the Schlage with communication which has been an issue even with multiple Jasco outlets and Aeotec repeaters installed in the route.  The deal killer for me was that it does not support information such as “unlocked by keypad” and had Michel confirm this with the logs sent over.  I reached out to Ultraloq support to see if this was being considered for a possible future update and never got a response so I ended up removing the lock, keying back to its original key and returning it.  I was disappointed that I had to do this as I generally liked the lock and loved it robust line of features but not being able to have or access the specific lock status data, it was a no-go for me and that support would not respond sealed the deal as I was willing to hold on to it if there was a remote possibility of future support updates as I desperately want to get rid of all my problematic Schlage and Yale devices!
