Migration question

Featured Replies

Posted

I just pulled the trigger an ordered an EISY and Zmatter USB to replace my ISY994 with zwave. I have a a serial PLM for the ISY and a USB PLM from playing with a Raspberry Pi to control Insteon many years ago. I plan to use the USB PLM for the EISY. Will this cause an issue to restore my settings from a backup? Would it be better to use the serial PLM first to get things up and running and then change to the USB PLM?

Thank you.

There shouldn't be an issue as long as you meet the requirements from the wiki:

Requirements

  1. If you are migrating Insteon you must have a compatible PLM
    • Eisy / Polisy supports these PLMs: 2412S, 2413S, 2413U, and 2448A7
    • If you have a 2413S (serial), you will need our Serial PLM Kit
  2. If you are migrating your Z-Wave Network, you must have our ZMatter Z-Wave USB Dongle

After restoring your backup, you will need to follow the directions from the wiki below to restore the PLM.

  1. If you are using Insteon

Thank you. I missed the "restore the PLM" part.

Now I am just waiting for things to arrive.

@K-bert also make sure you pay attention to the part about battery devices!

"If you have PRO Series, click on the Battery icon at the top. This will prevent ISY from trying to update programming on your RF devices which are probably in sleep mode"

IoX (on Polisy and eisy) are all "pro" versions. So if you have battery devices be sure to follow this step.

It is an ISY99i/IR PRO with the latest zwave board. Thanks for all the advice. Being prepared before the migration hopefully makes it smoother/quicker.

I only have one battery powered zwave device: a Zooz 4 in 1 sensor in the bathroom. I have two Insteon leak sensors that are battery powered as well.

The 300 series will have an LED protruding out of the rear of ISY and may have an antenna mount as well.

From the Admin Console select the Z-Wave™ menu at the top of the screen. Select Z-Wave™ Version. If the version is 4.55.00 the ISY has a 300 Series Z-Wave™ dongle. If the version is 6.81.00 the ISY has a 500 Series Z-Wave™ dongle.
