Issy994 queries to amazonaws.com every minute (Auto DR?)

I've dusted off my Isy994 after a few years of being in storage due to moving and building new house. After updating the firmware I've noticed the ISY makes the following query every minute or so. I've searched the forum and found information on the Auto DR but nothing specific about how to stop this activity.

Here's a screenshot showing a sample of activity

How can this be turned off?

I found this via google:

OUR MISSION. Flex Your Power is California's statewide energy efficiency marketing and outreach campaign.

I searched this forum out of curiosity and found this thread:

The current url for this project appears to be:

https://www.flexalert.org/

That brings up were you located in California and part of some program or monitoring energy use?

After updating the firmware

Sounds like @DennisC found your main issue. But the question is:

What firmware version did you upgrade to?

Where do you see this issue? (Event viewer, Event Log, Error Log)

Sounds like it's something that a ticket with UDI might be necessary to figure out how to turn it off, if it's possible to turn off.

This would not be related to the "Auto DR" that's a default scene in the ISY994. It cannot be deleted. It's not creating this issue. You can rename it. I add a simple "~" before it and the ISY puts it at the bottom of the device list - out of the way.

Haven't lived in CA. I did see that post when I googled it but my Electricity tab just says see Dashboard for Electricity Configuration. I do understand FlexYourPower is a CA feature, but I don't live there and I'm trying to figure out how to prevent my ISY from contacting their web site.

I upgraded to 5.3.4. The "Auto DR" appears in my Main Screen. The log is from Tools->Diagnostics->Event Viewer Level 3

I attempted to view the link you provided, however, it says I'm not authorized when I log in with my credentials.

@hetrickb yeah, sorry...edited above post about Auto DR. That's not the issue. At least doubtful anyway.

Do you have an OEM ISY994 that was part of a California energy program? It sounds like it based on what @DennisC found. That's beyond experience of most on the forum as I can't recall seeing any/many questions about it through the years. I'd contact support and see if they ever figured out a way to stop that or if something else was needed.

I have no idea if it was associated with CA as I purchased it new from Universal Devices. I just upgraded from 5.0.13 to 5.3.4. I don't recall if the Auto DR was in the list prior to the upgrade but I don't ever recall the FYP calls appearing in the log file before.

What Electricity Tab? I don't recall that being native to ISY, that's why I asked to see your modules purchased list.

If you purchased it directly from UD, I'm wondering if it was some type of test unit for the energy monitoring program. As @Geddyindicated, you will need to open a support ticket and be sure to give them your uuid # from the Help - About menu.

You might also want to include information about your purchase, at least what you can remember, or if you have the ticket #.

I purchased my ISY994 in 2017 and, although I've never used it, I believe the "Electricity" tab has been there from the beginning. It's under the Configuration tab and is blank except for text that reads" Please use the Dashboard for Electricity Configuration". I will open a ticket to see what UDI has to say.

Interesting, take a look at this:

https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY-99i_Series_INSTEON:Electricity

Sounds like a mistake. Have you ever looked in the Dashboard?

The following was in the link I posted (bold format is mine, looks like it can be disabled):

  • Enable Flex your Power in the Configuration tab under Electricity.
    • 60 second polling interval should suffice.
  • Just like any other event, in your programs, you can check the status of Flex Your Power.
    • Enabled = you should cut back on your energy use.
    • Based on Flex your Power status turn on/off your devices/scenes.

From the ISY Cookbook, this is how you can access Dashboard:

21.6.1.2Logging into ISY dashboard

• If you do not have Java installed, please install the latest for your platform. You may find the latest Java downloads at http://www.java.com/getjava. Please choose the latest JRE for your platform. o Note: you need Java 1.8 and above

• If you have ISY994i Series, go to http://isy.universaldevices.com/994i/dashboard.jnlp

• If your model number does not have i after 994, please go to http://isy.universaldevices.com/994/dashboard.jnlp

I went back and looked at the Dashboard and found the solution to my issue. I've never been a fan of the Dashboard and  when I looked at it after upgrading the firmware it looked the same as before, so I just dismissed it and went back to using the Admin Console. Sure enough, there's a system setting to enable/disable Flex Your Power that is also linked to the Amazon AWS server. I disabled it, refreshed everything and, like magic ;-) my ISY is no longer contacting the Amazon AWS server. I have no idea why this would only be implemented on the Dashboard and not the Admin Console. Thanks to everyone for helping to resolve this.

What version of the Zwave module do you have? The series 300 ZW or 500 ZW+. If it’s the 300 ZW, the highest firmware version you can use is 5.0.16C

I'm not really sure as I haven't had a need to use Z-Wave yet. The about screen shows Z-Wave (21100). When I click on the Z-Wave Toolbar it states "! Z-Wave Dongle Not Responding" I I recall correctly, I did buy the ISY994 that included Z-Wave

If you're not using it then it's probably no worry. The Firmware will work, you might have issues if it was a 300 series board. Since you got your primary concern taken care of and not using z-wave then I wouldn't worry about it at this point.

@lilyoyo1 helps determine which board might be installed in this post:

If you really want to know which version you have:

Identifying 300 Series Z-Wave™ By The Protruding LED

The 300 series will have an LED protruding out of the rear of ISY and may have an antenna mount as well. Perforated Enclosure

Identifying 300 Series Z-Wave™ By Version

From the Admin Console select the Z-Wave™ menu at the top of the screen. Select Z-Wave™ Version. If the version is 4.55.00 the ISY has a 300 Series Z-Wave™ dongle. If the version is 6.81.00 the ISY has a 500 Series Z-Wave™ dongle.
