someguy Posted June 16, 2023 Posted June 16, 2023 I currently have insteon thermostats and would like to upgrade them. I understand that the Nest thermostats are not an option for Polisy. What you YOU recommend for a thermostat that will cooperate well with Polisy?

Athlon Posted June 16, 2023 Posted June 16, 2023 I have a Polisy and three Ecobee's (three zones) - love 'em. The node server for them works great! 2
larryllix Posted June 16, 2023 Posted June 16, 2023 I have to second (or twentieth by now) support Athlon's post above. Ecobees are the best stat I have used and I have experienced a lot of different brands. Their accuracy and resolution is the best for people sensitive to cold waves in their homes. The only problem I have had with my latest version is the apartment building shuts off the A/C power line in the winter and my stat forgot it controlled A/C also. I contacted ecobee and they interacted with me to bypass that AI feature on Whatsapp. The immediate feedback for each stage was awesome! With the NS developed by @Jimbo.Automates the system is very bulletproof and quite functional. 4

They actually created a customized wiring diagram for me and emailed it. When I purchased them I had no idea how screwey my boiler wiring was - but they walked me through it. I like the update to the interface they did a few weeks ago, by the way.

I like the update to the interface they did a few weeks ago, by the way. I am not aware of any update but I have some newer model after I moved into an apartment last year. It seems to be very stripped down but when I asked about some features they showed me they were al hiding....so...I think the updates were to make it more user friendly by hiding things most non-tech people will never need or want to see, My biggest want is the sensor resolution accuracy to 0.1c and the settablility and triggering to 0.3c. Other quality stats were settable down to 1.0c and when the sensors detected a 1c above the setpoint plus the bandwidth (no man's land) the end result was about +/-3.5C or even +/-4.5c , just enough to make you feel cold enough to get up to fudge the setting before the thermostat actually reacts with some heat. ISY to the rescue? Not needed much with ecobee stats. For F figures readers can just under double those figures. Then another well hidden fact that most thermostats do is try to compensate for longer run times than the room heat requires. To allow this (compensation) they use the register that shows on the current room temperature on the screen , so your stat will display a range of about +/-3c on the stat front face. I have used some that allow that 6 degrees C variance so they can change the run times of the HVAC system. It gets quite stupid as I could turn a heater on and off manually and get a better temperature control. I learned most of this by recording actual temperatures on CAO Tags recording measured temperatures. If you believe the readings that are showing on the front of any room stat, you are kidding yourself. Ecobee has minimized this most of these effects. 2

My wiring looked like it was going to be straightforward and turned out not to be. He was meticulous in troubleshooting the issue and how to work around it and very knowledgeable and also sent me a wiring diagram. I don't think I've ever had a better customer support experience. Goose66 Posted June 18, 2023 Posted June 18, 2023 One thing you will be losing in a move from Insteon tstats to ecobee is local connections. Just another viewpoint. 2
TheA2Z Posted July 6, 2023 Posted July 6, 2023 I got two Nests like 5 years ago but they dont connect to Eisy. Ive been wanting to swap them out for zwave but havent had a use case for it yet.
