btreinders Posted October 17, 2023 Posted October 17, 2023 In case anyone else gets a corrupted Polisy SSD here is the procedure from UDI for restoring the SSD. I had mine get corrupted upgrading to IoX 5.7.0. You need a mSATA to USB adapter, something like this. Download image: Download https://udx.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/os_images/polisy.131.img (it is about 3.5G in size) Unix: dd if=/dev/zero of= bs=1M conv=sync status=progress (this clears the contents) dd if=polisy.131.img of= bs=1M conv=sync status=progress Windows: Connect the SSD to the adapter and plug into your computer (USB) (you have to remove a small security board first to get the SSD out of the Polisy) Download Rufus from https://github.com/pbatard/rufus/releases/download/v3.20/rufus-3.20p.exe and start it Click on Show advanced driver properties and make sure List USB Hard Drives is checked The Device should show you something like EFISYS (Disk xxx) (32GB) From Boot selection, choose Disk or ISO image (Please select) and then click on the Select button which allows you to pick polisy.13.img that you downloaded previously Click on the Start button Final Step: Once done, unplug, take the SSD card and plug it back into polisy Don't forget to plug the security board back in as well. Once booted up, go to Admin Console | Configuration tab | and click on the Update Packages button. Wait for 4 beeps + 1 at the end At this point you should be able to restore your IoX backup (hopefully you have a recent one) I also had to do a restore PLM for some reason. I had all kinds of communication errors with Insteon for some reason. Zwave for the Zmatter USB was fine. I don't use Zigbee from the USB dongle yet. I had forgotten to do the PG3 to PG3x step before I restored my last PG3x backup which caused me issues so don't forget to go to PG3x if you were on that version when you took a backup. 1 1
larryllix Posted October 18, 2023 Posted October 18, 2023 Thanks. Sounds like I will never advance to further versions on my polisy. I haven't really seen any bug fixes since v5.0.1 that would improve my system and the risk sounds too great. Not sure I want to spend that much time, frustration and money if things go south. I will wait until a more stable release comes out...hopefully.
Michel Kohanim Posted October 18, 2023 Posted October 18, 2023 @larryllix, Do you know what version OS you have (https://polisy.local:8443/desc). There are many bug fixes and enhancements especially for Z-Wave/Zigbee and node server communications + stability. With kind regards, Michel 3

I don't use Zwave (anymore), or Zigbee and my only node server (ecobee) works 100% all the time so recent updates do not benefit my system. However, as I posted, the ISY bugs since v5.0.1 still remain. NRs still use old data due to execute time variable usage and not call time values. This means NR cannot be used without a Wait 1-3 seconds between them. Makes very slow device changes and there is no guarantee ISY will send out what it was asked to send. Modulus calculations still output incorrect results. These have been reported several times since variable substitution and decimal variables were created. Here is a screenshot of my latest IoX Finder. Note both URLs have always been installed manually by myself. I has been the case for several years. Edited October 19, 2023 by larryllix
Michel Kohanim Posted October 19, 2023 Posted October 19, 2023 @larryllix, The reason the links goes nowhere is because you are on a firmware from more than a 1 year ago. Most probably, you are still on PG3 (or PG2) neither of which are maintained. We are on PG3x with major improvements. Regarding NRs, the whole purpose of plugins/node servers is to make NRs less relevant. What exactly do you use these NRs for? If you wish, I can do a remote session and see whether it's possible to upgrade your OS and everything else. But, I definitely don't want to force you to do anything you don't want to. With kind regards, Michel 1

With kind regards, Michel Very strange. The OS I am running was upgraded just a few months ago. The next version seems to be v5.7.0 but I read too many negatives regarding it so far, so I thought I would wait until something that benefited my system was produced and with less hard to resolve failures. Have you read this thread?

OP. v5.7.0 installed quite nicely and seems to be behaving very well. It seems the install did it's FIVE beeps and another beep about 30 seconds later, and then repeated that sequence again later. Seems like it may have rebooted, again?? The variable value grab has been fixed...Thanks a million for that one.! I have been watching and waiting for that for about 5 years now. I never saw any mention of it and gave up updating my polisy(s). That eliminated about 100 lines of Wait code and made lighting much less pop-corn..ish. My NRbridge software can take the GET packets as fast as ISY NR can put them out, and cache them there if required. I'll find out how deep the python 3 buffer is. Love it! macjeff Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 (edited) MAC USERS- BACKUP YOUR POLISY with OS and Restore I used this on my SD for my Pi and works great. Going to try it this week on the Polisy SD. I had to order the reader for it. https://www.tweaking4all.com/software/macosx-software/applepi-baker-v2/#DownloadApplePiBaker I am running the beta which works on latest mac OS. The cool thing here is you can image your Polisy after you set up. That way you have a clean OS backup. I will report results. I know it works on Pi. Edited November 7, 2023 by macjeff
