smarthome_newbie Posted April 21 Posted April 21 I set everything up 5 years ago and haven't used it much since. I have programs and scenes that are still working to turn on/off lights. I'm now wanting to get back into it. For example, I would like to receive notifications when a door is opened, and maybe do some more advanced things. Can the door notification be sent via the UD Mobile app if I have an open/close sensor on the door? Also, is it necessary to upgrade to EISY? Thanks for any help. It's been so long I have forgotten a lot about the system.
paulbates Posted April 21 Posted April 21 If your immediate goal is notifications and everything is working currently, I would focus on that and not complicate it with a hardware upgrade. You can get a notification when a sensor opens and closes... it's easy to do with the UDM app natively. My suggestion is to focus on function... ask questions about the notifications and other things you want to accomplish. Nothing wrong with an eisy upgrade, but its extra work on top of what you want to accomplish

I selected "my notifications" in the UDM app and it says a firmware upgrade is required to use this feature. Am I able to upgrade to firmware 5.80 with my current hardware?
paulbates Posted April 21 Posted April 21 I'm assuming yes, but not a policy user. Maybe a policy user can respond here.
larryllix Posted April 22 Posted April 22 (edited) I own two polisys and two ISY994s. The ISY994s won't do what I want without a RPi as a bridging unit to talk to my WiFi bulbs so I upgraded to a polisy. The polisy contains my own software and works quite well. I run v5.8.0 and AFAIK the polisy and Eisy are equivalent to each other, as far as firmware goes, for home automation things. If you have a polisy, I would stick with that for the next few years unless you see some clear reason to upgrade for some reason. If your ISY994 does the job, for the same logic, keep it working. Get a few more years out of it. Edited April 22 by larryllix

The last firmware for ISY994 is 5.3.4. If you want new Plugin (PG3) features then hardware upgrade required. The "My Notifications" links to the Notification Plugin which uses PG3 (Plugin) software only available on Polisy or eisy. Network Resources can be used to send notifications, but it is not as easy and will not show up in "My Notifications" or in linked Notifications. Also variable substitution may not work well with Network Resources. Notification Plugin https://youtu.be/t-r1hUeDWjQ Network Resource: https://studio.youtube.com/video/9w-_8AZy4iQ/edit

It's been so long that I've forgotten. Thank you.

Then open your java setup app under "Control Panel" in Windows, and delete all java files (three check boxes) Re-install Iox Finder https://isy.universal-devices.com/start.jnlp Execute the start.jnlp file it installs in your computer. It will install a further link with a nice UDI avatar in it. Move to your favourite launch position. When executed it should automatically find your polisy, or eISY. If not manually install your device URL into to and show it the way. Note:java will likely complain about installing a new version. Do it. Edited April 28 by larryllix
