johnjces Posted January 30 Posted January 30 (edited) SImply, can a switch that is ONLY a controller for a dimmer, control the dimmer function of a responding dimmer? Some research suggests that it will work just fine as a controller for a dimmer and will in fact control dimming and brightening of the dimmer responder. But, I have only found one reference that says it will work fine as a controller for a dimmer, so I thought I had better ask you guys who have done a lot more with the eISY and home automation than I ever had. A bit of background might be in order. I have a responder 'Master', 6 button dimming switchlinc that controls 2 LED lights in a hallway and it dims and brightens the lights just fine. I have a 2477 Dimmer switch as a controller, (and responder to on off) at the other end as years ago when I installed this stuff, I thought i needed to do it that way. The dimmer switch is both a controller and responder to/from the switchlinc keypad dimmer and it works... until a few years ago. I just put up wiht it but now it is driving me nuts. When you brighten or dim the lights using the switch, the LED lamps flicker and do a lot fo weird things at times, even going really bright then dimming. The main controller, the switchlinc that the lights are connected to works without this issue. I happen to have a 2477S that I would like to swap out for the 2477D. 1). Will the 2477S as a controller for the Dimming Switchlinc dim the Switchlinc? 2). Can I physically remove the 2477D, then delete it from my eISY then add/link the 2477S into my eISY then do a Replace With? No functions or links as to controller/responder will be changed and there is no set dimming for the 2477D now as it was just a manual controller. Thank you so much for your help and insight!
