tmorse305 Posted February 14 Posted February 14 Hi @Javi, I sent feedback via TestFlight but I thought I would add it here too. Tell me if you don't want it here. I tried to add a KASA WiFi Smart Plug. I was able to scan the QR code and enter my WiFi credentials but then I received this error. Thank you for working on this new capability! On an iPhone running 18.3.1
Javi Posted February 14 Posted February 14 Hi @tmorse305, Thanks, here is prefered. About 90+ percent of Test Flight feedback in useless, so I don't check often. Most feedback is anonymous user saying "not working" or "having trouble" without any other context. I'll have to look into this as Apple States the Matter developer profile is not needed in production, but it appears iOS is not allowing Matter commissioning to start in production. I did not test this as my devices already have a developer profile. 1
tmorse305 Posted February 25 Author Posted February 25 Hi @Javi, I'm still getting the same error when adding a Matter device using version 1.2.2. Thank you.
Javi Posted February 25 Posted February 25 Updates: We are working on a couple of issues. The "rendezvous" error in UD Mobile is firmware related for some, but not all, users and we hope to have a new build in the next week. The "Could not write characteristic" error is being encountered for all users on iOS devices for Matter BLE Wi-Fi commissioning. iOS is blocking communication to Bluetooth for a characteristic (UUID) used by Matter devices. We are looking into the issue with Apple. So, currently BLE commissioning for Matter devices from an iOS device will not work, but Matter should work for IP, Thread, and previously commissioned WiFi devices. 2

Hi @Javi, I'm not sure what you mean by this. My matter plug is WiFi not Thread. Is there a way to commission it without using BLE? I only see the BLE choice in UD Mobile.

Guy Lavoie Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Yesterday I configured a Matter bulb with an android phone.
tmorse305 Posted March 13 Author Posted March 13 Hi @Javi, I enabled developer mode on my iphone to see if I could get any further. I did get past the error above but the commissioning just blows out and I'm back a regular UD screen. UD lost communication with eisy. The admin console would not load, so I had to reboot eisy to regain control. Tried it again, same result. Third time I brought up the AC first and enabled the Matter log capture. Commissioning still crashed but the AC stayed up and I captured the resulting log file. I'll attach it in case it's of any value. Let me know if you want me to try something else. Thank you logfile

Thank you logfile 256.03 kB · 2 downloads Thanks for the information, I was not aware that enabling developer mode allowed commissioning to move forward. Did you install a developer profile also (this is a file import you would know if you did it) ? As for the crash, please open a ticket. This is likely not related to the app itself so will need to be handled by someone else.

bcdavis75 Posted May 29 Posted May 29 I know this is an old thread but I just got the same error trying to add a Matter over Thread dimmer. Any updates on how to get around it?
Guy Lavoie Posted May 29 Posted May 29 I know, we have heard rather little about Matter since the April updates. I haven't tried to see if there are updates beyond 5.9.1_18. It's not clear if they're actively working on it.
oberkc Posted May 30 Posted May 30 I have given up on the current iteration of matter over thread. It does not work for me. 1
bobbob21 Posted May 30 Posted May 30 I don't believe it works for anyone. It would be nice if UD would give us an update on Matter and when we might expect it to start working.
Javi Posted Tuesday at 09:45 PM Posted Tuesday at 09:45 PM Version 1.2.9 on iOS will allow Matter Setup Code entry. This version is awaiting approval from Apple for Beta Testers so should be live in the next 24-48 hours. A matter permission was also added which may fix iOS blocking BLE matter commissioning in production but will not know for sure until it is live. Currently the Setup Code only supports devices which were commissioned (connected to Wifi) with another service, still working on Setup Code for initial commissioning. Please report any app crashes on the forum. Version 1.2.9 contains major changes which will allow a future version to remove synchronization.
