Techman Posted March 12 Posted March 12 Insteon is offering a credit for trading up to dual band devices from single band. Trade-Up Program 1 Quote
jtara92101 Posted March 13 Posted March 13 Anyone know if you have to trade up to the exact same functionality? I have a surplus of dimmers - both single band and dual band. But I could use on/off switches, of which I only have a couple. The switches are nowadays useful in front of Hue bulbs, as iSY apparently lets you place the switch and hue bulbs (using Hue poly) in the same scene. I’ve been using dual-band keypads with no connected loads to control hue scenes at least in kitchen. (Hard-wired lines to bulbs in ceiling fans in switch box, but can still be manually controlled cause there are pull chains. Others I just left manual switches that I normally leave on.) Quote
Techman Posted March 13 Author Posted March 13 @jtara92101 Based on the trade-up table you can trade in an older dimmer for a dual band on/off swirch. They'll even accept non-Insteon devices for new dual band Insteon. The exact details are laid out in the trade-up form Trade-Up-Program-Form.pdf 2 Quote
hart2hart Posted Tuesday at 01:59 PM Posted Tuesday at 01:59 PM Has there been a better than $10 off on $50 (20%) items since Insteon came back to life? Quote
DennisC Posted yesterday at 12:31 PM Posted yesterday at 12:31 PM I have thought about their new program for a few switches I have, but I think the rebate would be washed away by the cost of return shipping. Quote

apostolakisl Posted yesterday at 06:34 PM Posted yesterday at 06:34 PM What in the world would they do with all those switches getting shipped back to them? Seems like a big waste of resources shipping that stuff back just for them to chuck them in the trash bin. Quote

Only thing I can think of would be to reduce the sales of used devices (to increase sales of new ones). I could be totally wrong on this. Quote

A couple of things, They're probably tired of supporting single band device problems Per the web page for this promotion, if you ship back 10+ devices, you get an additional $15 rebate. I imagine if you were sending back an even larger number, they would work with you on that if you contacted them first. Quote

To add to @Techman's answer, there is one model of i3 paddle switch - PS01. It can be configured to be a dimmer or a relay. It has both dimmer and relay electronics in it that can be configured at the switch, or in iox. It saves on spares as one switch can replace dimmer or relay function. I've always found them flexible. If it's not possible on the online form, they give a contact email support@insteon.com , tell them what you have, what you want and my guess is that they will accommodate you. We where able to get modules at the wholesale distributors price but had to promise not sell them. Quote
