Pool pump control

Looking for suggestions to control my outdoor pool equipment. Currently have the pumps on older Insteon 240 V controllers but they’re showing signs of age. Looking for a switch that can be used with Eisy. I saw a enbrighten zwave but seems it may be discontinued. Any ideas?

For something like that, I'd use a regular appliance module to turn on a separate high capacity relay or contactor. It's more trouble because you'd need to make a separate enclosure, but it would be more robust. Pool pumps have a high starting load and draw lots of current.

Yes, that’s definitely my back up but I was hoping for a plug and play solution

Turning on a high capacity relay does sound like a go way to go.

Elk made a heavy duty 220VAC relay in an enclosure. With a 120VAC relay coil in an enclosure. Controlled by a On/Off module or any other similar module. Not sure if it would be anything you can use.

Yes, the old Insteon you linked is what I have up now but getting towards end of life.

Then you have a chance to get a different module if you care to.

I do know early ones had a history of failing and I don't know if they ever fixed it.

I have had one of these Aeotec controllers going on five years. Solid

To clarify. My controller is on a large air compressor which it controls perfectly. It is not on a scheduled daily program for a pool pump which I would consider more critical. I have thought about using one for my pool pump but the timer it has is fine for now.  Have no reason to believe it won’t work.

Thanks for clarifying. I have used other devices from them with good results and my pump schedule is simple so hopefully it will work.

One of my pool pumps uses LV signaling to set the 4 speeds.  I use a CAI webcontrol board which outputs 5v on the 4 signal wires to set the speeds.  CAI has a plugin node for ISY.  I wrote some programs and created some shortcuts in my pool favorites folder to create "radio buttons" where you can hit any of the speeds and it will turn off any other speed that might already be on.

If your pump is just a simple on/off because it either is getting power or not, then I would use a high current relay to switch the pump that uses 120vac for the coil and then use an outdoor Insteon switch to control the relay.  That is how I control an aerator for my pond.
