pooderbill Posted Sunday at 09:22 PM Posted Sunday at 09:22 PM New win10 PC, installed Java, trying to run admin.jnlp For some reason, win10 can't find Java to run the jnlp file. Why can't win10 find the right executable for the jnlp file? In Properties for the jnlp file, I modified Opens with to use javaws.exe Is javaws.exe correct? But after modifying the Properties for Open with, I get this: Unable to launch application and the Java error details show: Unable to load resource: http://isy.universal-devices.com/994i/4.6.2/admin.jnlp This URL doesn't exist. I see the ISY version is 4.6.2 which I assume is the current version in my 994i. I assume this is old. Do I have to update? Quote
paulbates Posted Sunday at 09:34 PM Posted Sunday at 09:34 PM If you installed Java, then visit this link https://isy.universal-devices.com/start.jnlp You should not need to edit any of the files to make it work. You can also try clearing the Java cache, not that should not be necessary for a new Java install Quote
Techman Posted Sunday at 09:57 PM Posted Sunday at 09:57 PM @pooderbill Here's the link to the latest and final firmware version for the ISY994: 5.3.4 (ISY994) - Last release for ISY994 - Current Release Announcements - Universal Devices Forum Be sure to read the release notes before updating. After updating you need to clear your java cache, be sure to check all 3 boxes, then download the IoX Launcher from here: https://isy.universal-devices.com/start.jnlp Quote
Geddy Posted Sunday at 10:22 PM Posted Sunday at 10:22 PM @pooderbill first DO NOT UPDATE YOUR ISY! At least don’t randomly update to 5.x firmware. Your system is very old. I do not think IoX launcher will work for that old firmware version. You are better off downloading the admin.jnlp from the device itself. I forget the exact link, but reading the wiki should get you the URL to try. https://wiki.universal-devices.com/Main_Page The link should be something like http://ip.of.isy/web/admin.jnlp (but just going by memory and it’s been a while since I tried it so double check on the wiki. To answer your question, yes, Java’s.exe should be what you need to run the .jnlp file. Make sure you don’t have any 3rd party firewall or antivirus apps running. The reason not to upgrade is there is a huge change from 4.x to 5.x. If you’re happy with how your system is running then you do not need to jump up to the last version for it. There is a big change and lots of issues if you’re not prepared to update. The most I would suggest is to update to the last 4.x version (I think 4.9), but DO NOT update to 5.x until you’ve don’t A LOT of reading on the forums (not sure if really old posts are still available, but try a good search for issues updating from 4 to 5. 1 Quote
Brian H Posted Sunday at 10:34 PM Posted Sunday at 10:34 PM (edited) Latest for an ISY994i is 5.3.4. In the ISY994i area not any Polisy or eisy areas. I also feel do not try any updates until you get into the ISY994i. If everything us working OK I would also say do not do it. https://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/33287-534-isy994-last-release-for-isy994/ https://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/24381-iox-launcher/#comments Edited Sunday at 10:39 PM by Brian H 1 Quote
pooderbill Posted Monday at 03:04 PM Author Posted Monday at 03:04 PM @paulbates That start.jnlp got the ISY finder running. I need to run it on the PC that has the 994i on Thursday. I agree about the 5.xx versions. I won't upgrade since it was working fine with the old PC. The system is a couple of dozen lights and 8 presets in an auditorium. No automation, just a keypad (which works fine) and the PC. 1 Quote

pooderbill Posted Monday at 08:52 PM Author Posted Monday at 08:52 PM @Geddy No, the drive is toast. And old. So using a newer desktop and getting things setup. For the Insteon Java program, where are all the settings for our lights? Is it stored on the 994? Or is there a PC file I need to recover? Quote
Techman Posted Monday at 09:13 PM Posted Monday at 09:13 PM (edited) @pooderbill In the ISY994 all the device and program settings are stored on the SD card along with the ISY firmware. In Java, if you click on "General" and then "View" you should see the following: Edited Monday at 09:14 PM by Techman Quote
