FerventGeek Posted Monday at 09:07 PM Posted Monday at 09:07 PM It looks like a device controller isn't accepting connections from the new plugin I bought today because they're going out of business. So with the device dead and no replacements coming the plugin will never work. What's the process for getting a refund from the PG3 store? Thx! Quote

Open a support ticket with UD and let them know the plugin and the situation and see if they can refund that way. https://www.universal-devices.com/my-tickets 1 Quote

I don't use the plug-in, but the controller itself continues to work just fine. I'm not sure about remote access as that required a subscription and I've never had one. I don't know if the plug-in requires remote access or if it can communicate locally with the controller. But if it can communicate locally, that should continue to work regardless of the state of RainMachine's business. Quote
paulbates Posted yesterday at 12:17 PM Posted yesterday at 12:17 PM I owned a rainmachine at my last house and the connection is local api. Before the current plugin was written, io_guy supported rainmachine through his nodelink node server and that was local.   The rainmachine is built on android and its webserver provides pages to configure the rainmachine locally. My recollection is the the full URLs and port numbers were specific.. I believe :8080 Quote
DennisC Posted yesterday at 04:04 PM Posted yesterday at 04:04 PM Yes, the Rain Machine app continues to work, at least on Android. With the exception of Notifications. I reported this to them at the end of last year and they responded that because of changes to Android they needed to rewrite the Notification portion of the app. They also indicated they were working on it. However, so far there has not been an update and my inquiry last week has gone unresponded to. While I never used the plugin for Rain Machine, remote access still works (without a subscription), but you need to open a port in your router. Quote

In that case, you're right they'll probably never send you a replacement. Your only option would be to look for a used controller (ebay?) or switch to something else. Your post was a little ambiguous on that point, I wasn't sure if meant the controller had died or you couldn't get it working because they were out of business. If the controller and it's app are still working and it's just the plug-in that's not, you might want to set the log level to debug and make a post in the RainMachine sub-forum for help. Quote
