DreamerI90 Posted May 20 Posted May 20 After a power failure my PG3x Polyglots have to be restarted to resume working: Notifications Hue lights Ring Bond/Somfy Nu Heat Is there a way to resolve this issue so that manual intervention is not required after an outage? Quote
Geddy Posted May 20 Posted May 20 @DreamerI90 please let us know your current IoX version and PG3 version. When you are local to your device open this in your browser (note if you get a security/privacy warning it is okay to continue to the site as it is just a local page offered up on the eisy): https://eisy.local:8443/WEB/sysconfig.txt Please post what you see for IoX(ISY) and PG3x versions. Do you have the eisy device connected to a UPS device to try to keep power to it? That would be an option. If the power outage is too long for the UPS then the device should still load correctly and things shouldn’t be an issue, but unexpected boots do happen. Most of the plugins should attempt restarts, but if there is an internet issue when they try to restart and connect to their service it might cause this issue (however odd that Notifications doesn’t restart because I don’t think that requires network to startup…I don’t use that one so not totally sure). Once we know the versions you’re on there might be more things to try. Otherwise, might need to open a support ticket to get the logs reviewed to see what causes the failure to connect on reboot. DreamerI90 Posted May 31 Author Posted May 31 So I had another power outage, this time the eisy restarted but did not connect to the portal. I was able to access it using isy finder and LAN admin. The Polyglots had also not reconnected, but the interesting thing is that when I rebooted the eisy from the admin console not only did it reconnect to the portal but the Polyglots connected too. Usually, I have to restart them individually from the PG3 console. Quote
Guy Lavoie Posted May 31 Posted May 31 Sounds like some type of timing issue, such as the eisy tries to connect to the internet and portal faster than your internet connection recovers from the power failure. Did you upgrade or change anything with your internet service? Router? Quote
DreamerI90 Posted June 1 Author Posted June 1 It's always done this as long as I recall, I'm just trying to resolve it. It's not usually a big deal, but there are times when it could be. Quote
Guy Lavoie Posted June 1 Posted June 1 One test you could do is to cut the power to both your router and/or modem, and your eisy. Then power the router/modem back on, wait a couple of minutes, and then power on the eisy. If it comes up ok this time, then it could be a timing thing. Quote
DreamerI90 Posted June 8 Author Posted June 8 Pretty sure it's a timing thing but don't know how to change it. I'm just trying to make the system more resilient/fault tolerant. I had a new one this week, but I didn't notice a power outage. The system was running, and Polyglots were working but the mobile app was down. It turned out the system was no longer connected to the portal, after a reboot it reconnected. Quote
DreamerI90 Posted Friday at 05:17 PM Author Posted Friday at 05:17 PM I think I found a solution and did a couple tests to confirm. Hoping it proves out next time I have a power failure. What I came up with was an appliance surge protector with a delayed start of 3, 5, or 7 minutes. I used 5 and it seems to work. This way IoX doesn't start up before my internet access has resumed. 1 Quote

After power outages, I have to go through and restart my individual polyglot nodes to get them to connect. From the console, they all report "connected", but they aren't. I have not seen issues connecting to the portal. Quote

I didn't really check, but is the issue with the nodes connecting to ISY or the nodes connecting to the various 3rd part things they connect to? If the disconnect is to the third party items, I am surprised that they don't reconnect on their own since I can reboot the third party devices or reboot my router and as long as Polisy stays up, the nodes reconnect.
