Graham55 Posted Friday at 11:31 PM Posted Friday at 11:31 PM Recently I have started having a problem with my ISY994 sporadically turns everything on and opens the garage door. It seems to be triggered by events like a motion sensor turning on a light or a time of day programmed event. Unplugging the ISY several times has not resolved the issue. Is it time to replace the ISY994? With what? Thanks, Graham Quote

Plenty of info in the forum and troubleshooting wiki to dig deeper. If you are looking to update, easy is the most current and only available option. Quote
Guy Lavoie Posted Saturday at 01:41 AM Posted Saturday at 01:41 AM I've seen mentions of the All On command events, and have experienced one myself. One question comes to mind: since it's a valid Insteon command, is the PLM able to receive and recognize this command? If so, shouldn't IoX give us the capability to look for the reception of an All On command, and allow us to use it as a trigger event, which would allow us to mitigate the effects? Quote
paulbates Posted Saturday at 02:59 AM Posted Saturday at 02:59 AM Agreed on it being an "all on". While there's little definitive data, battery devices like motion sensors can be involved... in my experience when the batteries are allowed to die. If you have a motion sensor where the battery died, or one that seems to be associated with the all on; factory reset it, right click on iox and pick "restore device" Quote
Graham55 Posted Saturday at 11:27 AM Author Posted Saturday at 11:27 AM Would an all on also open the garage door? I have an Alexa sunset routine that turns on six lights. Worked perfectly until recently, varies some come on, none come on, works okay, everything comes on. Quote
paulbates Posted Saturday at 11:37 AM Posted Saturday at 11:37 AM Yes. The "all on" is an Insteon feature... It's possible to send a message to all Insteon devices to go on instantaneously. It sometimes happens accidentally. there's actually an "all on" button at the bottom of iox. How old is your plm? If your don't know for sure, post the 4 digits from the sticker on the back 1 Quote

If you are using an Insteon IO link to control your garage door then it could respond to an "all on" and open the door. The "All on" issue is something I have not heard about for years. Search the old threads in here about it. I don't believe it was ever nailed down as to exactly what causes it and perhaps there is more than one thing. I don't think it is the ISY that is doing it and I doubt replacing it will fix the issue. But I have seen where it will mysteriously start, then just as mysteriously stop happening. I had it happen a couple times many many years ago for unknown reasons and then I haven't had it happen again in over a decade. I did not have any battery devices at the time. I assume you are using the most up to date firmware for your 994i. That unit is no longer supported and the most recent firmware is a few years old. However, that firmware is very stable. Techman Posted Saturday at 02:28 PM Posted Saturday at 02:28 PM @Graham55 Take a look at this article https://wiki.universal-devices.com/INSTEON_Random_All_On_Events 1 Quote
Brian H Posted Saturday at 04:40 PM Posted Saturday at 04:40 PM (edited) Not sure if the PLM would see a All On. Quick look at the PLM Developers Guide did not show it but I too have seen All On mentioned in older threads here. Latest ISY994i firmware is 5.3.4 Found one very old thread. https://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/10321-how-to-diagnose-a-all-on-event-trigger/ Edited Saturday at 04:51 PM by Brian H 1 Quote
oberkc Posted Saturday at 10:22 PM Posted Saturday at 10:22 PM I still experience an occasional fall on event. I have never spent a lot of time trying to isolate the source but suspect it is associated with one of a few motion or door sensors that I have. Yes, they affect IO lincs connected to garage doors.
