October 20Oct 20 In August of this year I had an apparent power surge that took out my modem, router and the Insteon Serial Modem (2413S). This is a vacation home. I have replaced the modem and router provided by Optimum, my ISP. I have now installed a new 2413S. The alias for this location and its UUID appear in the Launcher but clicking on the URL results in the message loX Finder : Not Found. Neither the URL or the UUID appear for the primary residence, Chesapeake. According to the instructions I have, my next step for Wolf Creek is to log into the Admin Console and select the option to Restore Modem. That is where I am now. I cannot log into the Admin Console because I have no URL Help will be appreciated otherwise I am ging to have to abandon Wolf Creek. I must leave this location in a few days.I have spent days and days on this and problems at Chesapeake. I consider your expert help vital. Thanks.MacSequoiaAll Insteon DevicesFirmware 4.9
October 20Oct 20 If you're not able to access your controller then the problem isn't with the modem. It's either a controller, an Iox Launcher, or a router issue. What controller are you using and what's its firmware version?A few things to try:Clear your java cache and download the IoX Launcher from here:https://isy.universal-devices.com/start.jnlpReboot your controller
October 20Oct 20 Author I went back to a forkmer post by Mercier. downloaded Chrome. then went to System Settings, Privacy & Security, Local Network. There I did not find Google Chrome or loX Launcher to select as in the example.
October 20Oct 20 First things first: can you see the controller in your router's device table, with an IP address? It should be easy to spot, since the UUID is the network card's MAC address. Was your replacement router configured for DHCP, like your old one?Seeing the device listed in IoX finder doesn't mean it's necessarily seeing the controller. Edited October 20Oct 20 by Guy Lavoie
October 20Oct 20 Author Sorry, but I am essentially computer illiterate at 80+ years of age. One would think this would be an easy fix. I tried to research the subject of accessing my router and found two addresses that were supposed to permit me to access my bundled router but no soap. I hate to consider abandoning this site but weeks of work have produced almost nothing.
October 20Oct 20 @smokegrubAre you on a Windows or a MAC computer, what version is your computers firmware?Did you clear your java cache and download a new version of the IoX Launcher? When you replaced your modem did you follow the "Replace PLM" procedure?Have you rebooted your ISY? Edited October 20Oct 20 by Techman
October 20Oct 20 Well ok...could you try opening a command prompt on your computer and then try pinging the ip address that you see in IoX finder? EgC:\> ping 192.168.0.78.

October 20Oct 20 To reboot: Remove power from the ISY for about 15 secondsWhen you say you got a "blank page" could you be more specific.
October 21Oct 21 Author Further research shows the only light displaying on my isy is the power light. A chech of the of the power supply showed a broken housing. Anyone know where I can get a replacement, including the cable and plug and what I need to ask for. Quick delivery such as Amazon would enable me to get the repair done while we are at tthis location. Thanks.
Friday at 10:11 PM1 day So I have the same issue.... and just researched this topic now.I have an IP address for the EISY on my network but IoX gives the same error message that NOT FOUND. I did switch home routers from a Google Home mesh network to an Orbi 770 network....if that has anything to do with it. I enter the ip address I see for the EISY into IoX but it doesn't find the controller....HELP! My entire system is down because of this damn thing. Thank you!!
Friday at 11:40 PM1 day @kmosmen You potentially have a couple of issues. With the Orbi 770 being a mesh system it could be blocking some communication. First please clear Java cache (be sure to check all three boxes in this process) and delete any UD*.state files you might have Information about .state files found in wiki here:https://wiki.universal-devices.com/Main_Page#Admin_Console_Minimized/Invisible_and_Cannot_be_RestoredThen download a fresh start.jnlp from the UD site and clicking on "My ISY" on the top right. If adding the address manually be sure to add the port and "/desc" to the end of the IP address. Information can be found in the wiki how to manually add the eisy to the IoX Finder window: https://wiki.universal-devices.com/Eisy:User_Guide#Can't_Find_eisyThe above process clears Java cache, but also removes any stored values that IoX Launcher might have for your system so it forces it to try to find the system at the new IP (more than likely) with the new home router system. If still having issues and if you can connect multiple devices to the same satellite then connect your computer to the same device the eisy is connected to (hopefully both with a wired connection). If the eisy is using wifi connection do you have a way to attempt to connect it with a wire during this time for testing?
Yesterday at 12:07 AM1 day Thank you Geddy but no luck!I cleared Java cache.... reinstalled IoX and tried to add my EISY with.... https://192.168.86.XXX:8443/descand it didn't work... still not found.
Yesterday at 02:26 AM1 day Double check the DHCP table in your router and confirm the IP address of eisy by comparing mac addresses, just in case.Have you tried adding https://eisy.local:8443/desc to the IoX Finder?
Yesterday at 03:03 AM1 day I have done both.... My router keeps giving EISY the same address.... I try adding that address to IoX Finder as well as eisy.local and neither work....yet the router has the EISY listed
Yesterday at 03:15 AM1 day Try this test: open a DOS command line on your pc, then try to connect by ssh to it's IP address, ex:ssh admin@192.168.0.123Do you get prompted for a password? If so, try keying in "admin". Just getting a connection would tell you that networking is functional on your eisy. It might then be time for a ticket with UDI

If so, can you temporarily move eisy near your router and connect via an ethernet cable? If you are trying to connect via wifi, it is possible eisy is not in wifi configuration mode. Hence the message to try double pressing eisy's front button, which will place eisy in wifi configuration mode.It would help if you could explain how you are trying to connect to eisy, are you using a computer, UD Mobile, ios, android? If you are using UD Mobile, have you read through and followed the following instructions from the wiki:TroubleshootingNote: Some iOS and Mac devices may not allow data transfer to a WiFi access point (eisy) if the access point does not have internet access. This will prevent setting of your Home Wifi credentials on eisy. If UD Mobile shows an error message similar to "The internet connection appears to be offline" then please try our Alpha Bluetooth setup https://youtu.be/NrVFYfXRaxc.Most issues with eisy WiFi configuration are related to eisy not being in WiFi Setup Mode, denied mobile device permissions, or eisy's WiFi network was entered manually into the Mobile device.Verify eisy is in WiFi Setup Mode by opening your mobile device WiFi settings and verify a network prefixed with "eisy" is available. DO NOT CONNECT TO THIS NETWORK or the app will not be able to complete configuration. If this network is saved by your mobile device please forget the network before attempting setup. If you have denied permissions to the app you will need to grant them manually from your mobile device settings. Required permissions are camera, location, local-network (iOS). Camera permission is needed to scan eisy's barcode. Location permission is needed to read the currently connected WiFi Network to both automatically populate your home WiFi network SSID and to verify the app is connected to eisy's WiFi network. Local-Network (iOS) permission is needed to find eisy on your home network after it has connected to your home WiFi network. If eisy's WiFi Adapter is saved in your mobile device's saved networks UD Mobile will not be able to connect or set the password due to OS security measures. These measures are in place to prevent apps from changing your saved network passwords and connecting to saved networks without your consent. If your mobile device's saved networks include eisy's WiFi network you must forget the network before configuring WiFi from UD Mobile. If all the above does not work you can manually connect to eisy when in WiFi configuration mode although some mobile devices, specifically iOS devices, will connect to a network without internet but will not route requests to this network. So this should be done from a non-iOS Devices. First put eisy in WiFi configuration mode by double pressing the front power button. Then connect to eisy's WiFi network, the password is the text under eisy's QR Code if there is no number under the QR Code the numerical value of the Serial Number (SN) should be used. If using a windows device and more than 8 characters are not allowed in the passphrase select "Connect using a security key instead". Finally send the following command in a browser http://172.26.18.3:60018/setwifi/SSID/Passphrase where SSID is replaced by your home WiFi SSID and Passphrase is replaced with your home WiFi password. So if your SSID (WiFi network name) is "MyHomeNetwork" and your password is "MyPassword" the URL to set your credentials will be http://172.26.18.3:60018/setwifi/MyHomeNetwork/MyPassword.
14 hours ago14 hr Thank you for the help, everyone. My backstory.... My PLM wasn't working so I ordered a new one. Got the system up and running. For Back Friday, I decided to upgrade my old Google Home router with an Orbi 770 system. My old Google router offered a 192.168.86.xx SSID. The new Orbi defaulted to a 10.0.0.xx SSID. I didn't know that when I swapped routers. (I disconnected the Google router and made the new Orbi have the same Network name and password - thinking the devices wouldn't know!). Many things connected but the EISY wouldn't connect. I then changed the SSID of the new router to the 192.168.86.xx. EISY was still connected via a wired connection - it gets an ip address from that connection but IoX Launcher will not connect. No user name / password option....just NOT FOUND popping up. I don't know how to ping the address on a Mac but I do run Parallel's for another work program. Maybe there? Nonetheless, I just checked and the IP address for the EISY remains.....192.168.86.XX and it hasn't changed. I did create a ticket but am getting very vague, SUPER SHORT instructions on how to fix this. I tried the 10 presses of the power button to factory reset since I have a good backup from 11/26/25. Completely at a loss here..... and super frustrated!!! Wishing I had the money to throw my Insteon out and get something with better now but my entire house is INSTEON! Ugh.Thank you!!!!!(Double pressing the power button does not broadcast a wifi network from the EISY. I have tried a million times...) Edited 14 hours ago14 hr by kmosmen
13 hours ago13 hr Maybe a second look at the instructions from UD would help?If there instructions are not something you think should be posted here, I would suggest sharing them with one person via PM that has tried helping you here - preferably with some one with mac os knowledge. It is possible a fresh perspective with help.To be clear, how are you confirming that eisy is not broadcasting a wifi network? What happens if you shut down eisy from front button. Reboot your router, and then use an Ethernet cable to plug eisy in to your router?

I don't have any experience there other than what I've read from others. Be sure you've reviewed this post: https://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/44943-admin-console-not-working-on-mac/I'm guessing you have since you seem to have IoX Finder window showing so at least you're able to run IoX Launcher app.Since the eisy is hard wired to the new router it shouldn't matter what the DHCP table is. eisy, by default, is set to auto connect to the DHCP (thankfully, that was a change UD made since the isy994 so users could not hard code a static IP on the device). So changing routers with different DHCP should not impact the eisy connectivity these days. If you've had a support ticket with UD for this issue and it has not been resolved I would go back to that ticket and get further assistance. For us (other users) to randomly suggest things might not be as helpful as the information provided directly from UD. I'm not sure what pressing the power button to reset or to turn wifi on/off has done to the state of the eisy, but you might be in a state that it's not ready to work correctly. I would perform a power cycle and allow it to fully boot before trying to connect.
