I can access eisy from the UD Mobile. The IoX Launcher can't find the eisy. My router indicates that the device is connected and shows it in the network device list.

I have not done any updates in the past 9 months.

All suggestions on how to get the Launcher to find the eisy are appreciated. TIA

The usual advice is to go into java and clear the cache (all 3 clear options). My personal approach is to click on "Add" in IoX finder and manually enter the url. For example if the IP address of your eisy is 192.168.0.123 then enter:

https://192.168.0.123:8443/desc

Then click on the new entry. If that works out, saving it to a file (click on "Save") is handy, so you can load it from a file the next time this happens.

Guy, I have followed your suggestion, however, the eisy can't be found. Any other suggestions?

Can you see your eisy among your router's device table?

Try rebooting both your router and then eisy. Followed by clearing all 3 boxes in java when deleting files and downloading a new start.jnlp.

Guy - I do see the eisy in the router device table. The IoX Launcher was working and I can access it with no issues on the UD Mobil.

Having said that, I recently installed a new computer with Windows 11. This is my first attempt to access the eisy from the new computer.

DennisC - I followed your directions. I could not discover the eisy. I then followed the directions above from Guy and attempted to discover the eisy with the IP address. I still can not use the IoX Launcer.

Other ideas?

Guy & DennisC - I just got it to work. No idea what change was made/what mistake I corrected.

Just to double check, there are two ways to add IP to the Launcher. The first is: https://eisy.local:8443/desc. The second is https://xxx.xxx.x.xxx:8443/desc.

Replace the x's with your IP address. Be sure to try both of them.

I'm here because my IoX Finder also wasn't finding. Clicking Add and entering https://eisy.local:8443/desc got it to work.

Am I mistaken, I thought some time ago it was said the Java interface supposed to be going away? Why is it still a thing?

Because programming doesn't happen overnight. Many things can now be done in eisy.local with no Java, but not everything. For example, program creation and editing must still be done in the admin console.

Touchy. I didn't hear it yesterday. It was months ago. And it's been talked about for longer than that. Getting in with the Java interface works 50% of the time. To use a program in 2026 I shouldn't have to know how to go into another program, clear it's cache, and know the IP address of a device to get to an admin console. Heck, the only time I access the EISY on my computer is for program creation and editing.

Also, I'm a bit trigger-happy testy. I just got off an hour long customer no-service call with Birdfy.

Experience varies by user and systems. I find the java interface to be 100% reliable and the only thing I use. I don't use it very often because I don't need to alter my system very much. I just mostly go in to admin console when trying to help others here and I've not had an issue with it. Although, using it more than a few times a year does keep my use of the process sharp enough that I remember what to do. Thing is it's been this way for 10 years (for my time with ISY/Polisy/eisy) so am having learning curve issues when having to use the web interface that's still being worked out. Hopefully they'll get it working sooner rather than later and be as reliable as the java connected admin console. Either way I hope the web ui will be "generic user" friendly.

FWIW, I've been around since the debut of the ISY 994. Used HAL 2000 (!) for years before that. And IBM Home Director / X-10 before that! I digress.... I'm not a programmer, developer, or computer engineer - just an enthusiast that tries to dig in as far as I can on the occasion that I have time, or as you say, a "generic user" 😊. Once I'm IN the Admin Console, it's fine. I guess my 50% comment is regarding the IoX finder. I don't spend everyday in the Admin Console, sometimes months pass. More often than it should happen, the IoX opens empty, and I have to go off on a tangent to figure it out. That it's been this way for 10 years is frustrating.
