May 24May 24 Has something happened with this issue? My echo devices decided to "upgrade" to Alexa+ without asking. Things seem to be working with lighting control
June 12Jun 12 are we saying it is "safe" to upgrade to alexa plus? by safe, I mean that it no longer causes all of the problems that it used to cause as noted here: https://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/45665-don%E2%80%99t-upgrade-to-alexa/
June 12Jun 12 Same thing here: it self upgraded to Alexa+ just a few days ago. So far, things seem to be working. My wife's (lack of) patience quickly lets me know if something is amiss!
June 27Jun 27 I tried enabling Alex Plus and now all of my devices get this reply from Alexa: "I can't control the device because its skill is disabled. you can find the skill and enable it again in the alexa app". I tried diabling and re-enabling the v3 universal devices skill and it still doesn't work.suggestions?
June 27Jun 27 Mine is working, but it's often slower to respond. Sometimes she'll say that the controller is not responding, but the command ends up working anyway, after a delay that can be 10 seconds or more.Another thing I've noticed is that it appears to sometimes be sending a command twice. I haven't yet made a connection with those "non responding" controller messages (like maybe it retries?). You don't noice it with lights, but I did see it happen with opening the garage door, because if it sends another command to trigger the iolinc, the second command will stop the opening door, leaving the door half open. I have a similar issue with a toggle type command that turns on/off a video fireplace. I ask it to turn it off which it does, then it does it again, which leaves it on at the main menu. I'd have to add lockout timer code to avoid this. Edited June 27Jun 27 by Guy Lavoie
Saturday at 10:39 AM4 days I am having major trouble with the Alexa+. I like the function of this alexa+ but it is still causing me to get the error message "I am not quite sure what when wrong with the (xxx)" even though the (xxx) went on or off just fine.I tried setting up some voice controls inside of Home Assistant and they do the same thing!!! some of you have alexa+ working, it appears by this thread. any suggestions? (I've asked Claude AI and it wasn't helpful.)
Saturday at 06:43 PM4 days I've been using Alexa+ since it came out, and yeah, there are issues, but they are solvable. Alexa+ will cause issues if any name you expose to it is common, or matches room names or other devices on Alexa, or even actions as it tries to "understand" what you're saying. The solution seems to be to create an Alexa routine with the exact wording you want to trigger your device/scene/program. The routines seem to execute before the AI. That said, I do like Alexa+ for everything else. On the fly programs are great, like "turn on the hallway light for 10 seconds, then turn on the bedroom light"
