99i/IR Pro Loosing Internet Connection

Every couple of days, I find that my 99i/IR Pro has lost its ability to connect to the outside world. Everything works just fine inside my house, but it cannot connect to an NTP server, SMTP server, WeatherBug, etc. Rebooting doesn't seem to solve the problem, but changing from a static IP to a dynamic IP (or dynamic to static) seems to resolve the issue temporarily. I've had the unit for years with no issues. I've upgraded to 2.7.15, and that hasn't solved the problem. If it helps, I'm using a Linksys E2000 router running firmware 1.0.01.

This probably has to do with the router not allowing DNS relay while using static IP address.

 

What you might want to try is to use the DNS entries from your ISP (with caveat that this may change) and see if things get more reliable.
