October 18Oct 18 Below is my step by step process to migrate from my Polisy Pro on 6.0.5 to eisy lite. I welcome any feedback if I’ve missed something. Back up Polisy IoX and PG3x; record node servers.Set up and update eisy lite while Polisy remains operational.Shut down Polisy and disconnect its power.Move the Insteon USB Stick to eisy lite.Restore the regular Polisy IoX backup on eisy lite.Enable Insteon Support and reboot if required.Test devices, scenes, programs, and schedules.Handle PG3x, Portal, and UD Mobile separately if applicable.Save fresh backups and keep Polisy as a fallback.
October 18Oct 18 Solution The best instructions I have seen for migration is in the wiki:https://wiki.universal-devices.com/Eisy:User_Guide#Migration
October 18Oct 18 My polisy has a zooz zwave stick. The wiki does not explain how to transfer that to the eisy. It only describes transferring to a zmatter stick, not moving existing zwave hardware. Will the polisy backup (there is no separate zwave backup when using a zooz stick) restore full zwave configuration to the eisy by simply plugging in the zooz stick.
October 18Oct 18 I had the zmatter stick, so I did not have any first hand experience with a non-UD zwave dongle. I do not recall an option at that time to backup and restore a zooz device. Others may have better recollection.I recall, also, that there may now be a backup method for aftermarket dongles in one of the newer updates to eisy-ui. Of course, if true, this would necessitate updating your polisy, which sounds like a burdensome task.Hopefully, others may have better news.

October 19Oct 19 Thanks Javi. There is no option to backup zwave if using a zwave stick. I am on IoX 5.9.1. I’m assuming it is included automatically in the polisy backup. i am thinking that a number of users on zwave will be going through a similar conversion given that the zmatter board is not available.I purchased the eisy to not go through the hassle of upgrading the polisy and have a safe fallback in case of issues. Having to reset the zwave stick would be painful as would require rebuilding my zwave network.
October 19Oct 19 The restore should restore the zwave devices assuming they are backed up.To backup the current state from Admin Console > Z-Wave-Backup, this will not give you a file, it will update the system backup file (note this is now done automatically in eisy-ui). then create an iox backup (Admin Console > File > IoX Backup).Edit: I just noticed you said zooz, I think the backup is similar but don't have anything to test.
October 19Oct 19 Very strange. unfortunately there is really no way to fix this without a firmware upgrade. My guess is it can still be backed up via rest, however migrating from a 500 series controller (ZW) to a 700 series controller (ZY) may require reset of devices in any case.Do the Zwave node addresses start with ZW or ZY?
October 19Oct 19 The zwave devices show up as ZW. I’m not looking to migrate to a new zwave device. Simply want to unplug the zooz dongle from the polisy and plug it into the eisy. Not sure of the steps involved to have it be recognized and hopefully use what’s in the backup I restore from the polisy. In the original post, there is a step to enable Insteon support after restoring the backup. Is there a similar step for zwave?

Truth is, you'll need to re-include your Zwave devices.Though if it's the same physical stick, just moving it over to the eisy sounds like it should work. Edited October 19Oct 19 by Guy Lavoie
October 19Oct 19 I think @Guy Lavoie might be correct about just restoring the backup if the same stick is used as there is no need to restore the data to the stick. The legacy ZW implementation was short lived on polisy, so I'm not sure there are enough test cases to know for sure.
October 20Oct 20 Hopefully will get some time this weekend to attempt the migration from polisy to eisy and just moving the zooz dongle is all I need to do.

Yesterday at 12:22 AM1 day After some futzing around, it appears the UDX version prior to 5.1.0 blocked package updates from eisy ui on polisy. I used ssh to manually update to udx 5.1.0. This version explicitly comments that it supports polisy updates but wants to leave freebsd at 14.3. After updating to udx 5.1.0 polisy automatically moved forward to update everything else. It takes a good long time to get through this, 37 minutes for me.Command to update udxsudo pkg upgrade udxafter that succeeded, it moved onto the remaining packages. Probably because my first attempt from eisy ui failed and those updates were already pending. If you first manually did the udx upgrade, you might need to then go back to eisy ui and tell it to do the remaining updates.
