Release 2.8.7 (RC3) Is Now Available

Michel,

After a long 24 hours of swapping PLM,s, restoring PLM's, trying to eliminate Access Points, etc....I still could not get the wireless devices working right with 2.8.7, so I have now gone back to my original v72 PLM, dropped back to 2.8.2, restored my back-up, and all is working again.

The only thing that I have noticed (and this may have been happening before) is that even though all my wireless devices now work again, they do have the long flickering of the LED after execution showing that something is not acknowledging correctly.

The other change is that I am currently running one less access point, though I'm not sure I will be able to go with out it when I put all my motion sensors and triggerlincs back in place for normal operation. I'm not sure if I will attempt to re-upgrade to 2.8.7 anymore this weekend or not, depends how thin my patience is wearing.

If you do decide to go back to 2.8.7 DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING ELSE. Leave everything as it is where you are happy with RF devices working and change only the ISY image. Takes less than two minutes to go to 2.8.7 and another two minutes to go back to 2.8.2 if RF regresses at 2.8.7.

The blinking LEDs is the result of switching PLMs. Being back at the original PLM, it is likely the devices were updated with the other PLM address and have not been updated again with the original PLM address.

Good news! I am up and running on 2.8.7. I decided to take one more crack at switching to 2.8.7 from 2.8.2. Installation went fine and the triggerlincs, T-stat, and remotelincs worked correctly after restoring them.

I have 9 motion sensors and even though they were all recognized, most of them did not work correctly until I completely deleted them and then added them back in.

So other than one motion sensor that may be bad since I can't get it to work correctly at any location, I am back to my original hardware configuration and placement of access points and wireless devices. I don't know exactly why all the wireless devices acted up this time, I didn't have any problem before through dozens of upgrades.

Thanks for all your suggestions.

Thermostat sub nodes, Heat Control, and Fan Control (Cool Control Probably would too) are returning formated value of 0.00 instead of off. (don't know about on)

Status Request is clearing Heat/Cool state on the main node and maybe sub nodes. I can understand that ISY can't query this data and cant guarantee that is up to date, but is clearing it necessary?

Thanks,

Nick

Having a weird console not updating issue:

I have a program I was using to test setup of my new custom notifications here:

Laundry Left On (note time is usually a tad longer ..)

Paste code

If

Status 'Laundry1' is not Off

Or Status 'Laundry2' is not Off

Then

Wait 10 seconds

Set Scene 'Laundry' Query

Send Notification to 'All' content 'LaundryLeftOntesting'

Set Scene 'Laundry' Off

Wait 5 seconds

Set Scene 'Laundry' Off

Else

- No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action')

(noting it has a loop as I was trying to work around communication issues but maybe I am still having some ??)

Now here is what I found. In Admin console open on “Main†and ‘Laundry1’ selected under “My Lightingâ€: Click the “On†button

ISY sends valid command to turn on the device and the unit turns on however the “Current State†continues to display “Off†and the program does not start.

If I right-click and query the device the query runs fast status will change to “On†and program runs successfully (changing the status to off in the consul and at the device).

If I click “On†one time and then “Fast On†the next and keep alternating the status updates correctly. Also if there is other insteon traffic on my network in between my clicking the “On†button it functions correctly HOWEVER if I click “On†two cycles in a row the status does not update to “Onâ€.

Event viewer logs just in case you need them:

clicked “On†button in console but status stayed off

There was also something weird going on in the time stamp of the logs as these were a few minutes apart from each other however they did not reflect so in the logs. When I noticed this I checked the time on the “Main†tab where my console had been for last 20+ minutes and the time was incorrect (displaying 1:08 instead 1:37) when I clicked on the configuration tab the time display at top of console and in next log entry jumped to 1:37. Time in console only appears to update when clicking from Main, Program Summary, or Program Details to Configuration Tab.

Sorry this is a long post but tried to provide some details.

Ping me with questions.

Hi junkycosmos,

1. Please make sure that the on level for your device is greater than 0 (that's the difference between on and fast on)

2. If this is a load sensing device, make sure you have a load attached

3. If all fails, try a Restore on it

Please note that Wait is interruptible so if the status of the light changes to off during any of the wait commands, then the program stops.

With kind regards,

Michel
