Michel Kohanim Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 Hello all, There was intermittent interoperability issue with Dual Band SwitchLinc devices . This release addresses this issue. If no problems are found, this should be our last beta release Things to test: 1. Dual Band SwitchLinc deivces 2. EZIO Control from the Admin Console For a list of changes, please take a look at this post: http://forum.universal-devices.com/view ... =6475#6475 Notes: 1. ISY-26 is no longer included in the firmware builds 2. Due to the sensitive nature of supporting MorningLinc, users now must agree to terms and conditions upon Admin Console start up otherwise the dialog keeps popping up every time the Admin Console is started Instructions: 1. Please backup your ISY (File | Backup ISY) 2. Please download the firmware for your platform - please do not unzip ISY 99i Series: http://www.universal-devices.com/update ... 2.8.14.zip 3. Important Due to invalid Java certificate chain in releases 2.8.5 and above, please make sure to remove all Universal Devices certificates from Java: a. Close all browser sessions b. Open Java Control Panel (Java Preferences on MAC) c. Click on the Security tab. Remove all Universal Devices certificates (on MAC, click on the '-' button at the bottom) e. Clear your Java Cache ( http://www.universal-devices.com/mwiki/ ... Java_Cache ) f. Go to http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/2.8.14/admin.jnlp 4. Login to the Admin Console and choose Help | Manually Upgrade [the name of your system] 5. Choose the file saved in step 2 MAC users: if upgrade fails, please add https://your.isy.ip.address to ISY Finder (see 3f above) 6. After the upgrade, ISY reboots. Please do ensure to clear your Java Cache: http://www.universal-devices.com/mwiki/ ... Java_Cache 7. IMPORTANT Once upgrade is completed and ISY reboots, use any of the following methods to access your ISY's Admin Console: a. http://isy/admin - applet (Windows only) b. http://isy/admin.jnlp - Java application (Windows only) c. http://your.isy.ip.address/admin - applet d. http://your.isy.ip.address/admin.jnlp - Java application e. http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/2.8.14 - applet f. http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/2.8.14/admin.jnlp - Java application 8. IMPORTANT If you have already installed a self signed certificate and your current firmware is 2.7.10 and below, you must reinstall a new one: http://www.universal-devices.com/mwiki/ ... rtificates Thanks and with kind regards, Quote
nedsmith Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Is there an install script for the ISY99I Console application for Mac OSX? I can download the admin.jnlp file just fine. It will launch the console if I click it. However, The name "admin" is rather ambiguous and the graphic is a generic .jnlp icon. This used to show up as a ".app" file but no longer does. Why not follow the traditional Mac drag and drop model for installing apps e.g. Diaglog Box with ["NEW APP" --> ] Thx Quote

macjeff Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 It is in the first message of this post f. http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/2.8.14/admin.jnlp - Java application I use OS X. We are a mac support company (www.midatlanticconsulting.com). We can always help with Mac Specific issues. Make sure you clear the cache before the upgrade and after the upgrade. How I recommend to do this is 1. quit all browsers 2. Run JAVA Preferences in /Applications/Utilities Click on the Security tab and delete anything that says Universal Devices. 3. Open up your user folder/Library/caches/Java folder. Inside that there is another cache folder. Delete its contents. 4. Choose the option in the applet (link above) to manually update the firmware. Its in the last menu to the right at the bottom I think. **Note- you MUST be logged in using HTTPS on a mac for this to work or you will get an error. 5. Run the backup 6. Choose the new firmware file you downloaded and upload 7. Repeat steps 1-3 while the unit reboots. 8. Wait a couple minutes and login. (Verify your firmware was installed) Thanks, Jeff Quote
macjeff Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Last night the problem came back (and once it happens it would happen until I reboot the ISY) that they ISY would report incorrect status on keypadlincs and some other devices.. A query would change it back. I was told to upgrade to 2.8.14. I did and the problem is solved BUT its annoying how it is done. I have a scene that has a keypadlinc in it. (many of them but this is one example) I run the scene and all the devices turn on including the keypadlinc. The keypadlinc button is really not on though (not glowing or anything but ISY says on). Under 2.8.13 I would have to reboot system. Under 2.8.14 a second later after I hit the on and it said on (incorrectly) it said system busy with a progress bar. Then the device turned off in status. Then in a few moments the progress bar starts again. Then it turns on for real and status is correct. I bet what is happening is when you turn it on, if it sees one of the devices it does a query immediately of that device. That changes the status back. Then it changes it again and do another query. It keeps going until it is correct. This is ANNOYING because of the progress bars that tie me up but I am about to go on a ski trip and at least this gives me a piece of mind that I can trust the status. Jeff Quote
Brian H Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Update. I tried to add a new module to the My Lighting Tree and Java flagged an error. I have seen this in a few of the recent beta updates. I just never wrote down the message to report. Java has discovered application components that could indicate a security concern. Name: 99i Administrative Console. Block yes or no. I chose No. I did follow the instructions and remove the certificate as part of the update. Quote
Candide Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Updated from .13 to .14 - so far no issues. Quote

Michel Kohanim Posted February 8, 2011 Author Posted February 8, 2011 Hello Jeff, Thanks so very much for the link to your company. I am sure a lot of people (including us) will find it quite valuable. Now, as far as the KPLs not reporting the correct status, would you be kind enough to do a scene test on the scenes to which these KPLs belong. I do not think rebooting ISY is what's fixing the problem but perhaps it's changing the behavior of the system since, upon start up, ISY will query all devices. If the problem is only related to scenes involving KPLs, Scene Test can help you identify where the problems are. With kind regards, Michel Quote
mjtyson Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Just checking to see if the error in the 2420M select box was fixed - in .13 the software toggle was backwards to the label. Quote
Michel Kohanim Posted February 8, 2011 Author Posted February 8, 2011 Yes, it has been fixed. With kind regards, Michel Quote
macjeff Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Michael, just saw your post and I just left to head out of town. I can do a scene test but I can't verify the status so I am not there So for now I have to wait until the 20th to do this. Other then a firmware update which I assume you can do from remote, I don't want to Mess with it now since if it freezes I can't reboot it. Can you put the ISY on an appliancelinc to allow for remote rebooting? And I agree it is probably the query. It is very strange though when I turn a scene off that has keypadlinc buttons, I can watch the buttons come on but not The lights. But on 2.8.14 about a second later the button light turns back off and then back on. The second time the real light usually comes on too. So it works but not pretty....lol. Jeff Quote
k7zpj Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 No issues with update from 2.8.13 to 2.8.14 Quote
k7zpj Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 I was able to do the linking of a dual band switchlink (2477D) with no apparent issues. I then tried to replace a 2476D switch link with the 2477D and got the following errors when the ISY was writing to the 2477D: Failed Writing Device Link (17.F8.08.1) [-200000/-51] Any suggestions on how to proceed? Quote
Michel Kohanim Posted February 9, 2011 Author Posted February 9, 2011 Hello k7zpj, Thank you. I assume 17.F8.08 is your 2477D, correct? If not, please do make sure you do not have any devices with 0101 green icons. If so, then please go to Link Management | Advanced Options and make sure you are on Automatic. If that also fails, then try querying the 2477D making sure you can communicate with it. With kind regards, Michel Quote
k7zpj Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Hi Michel 17.F8.08 is the 2477D and Link Management | Advanced Options is on Automatic. However, the 2477D wouldn't repond to a query and didn't apprear to be sending out status over the power line when I turned it on and off. I used the air gap to remove power from the 2477D and upon it powering back on, the outstanding data was written to the 2477D. All of the scenes that have the 2477D pass the scene test and is working as expect with one exception. I am unable to change the LED brightness by using the "LED Brightness" button. No matter what value I set the level to, the LED stays at the same level. Any ideas? Quote
Michel Kohanim Posted February 10, 2011 Author Posted February 10, 2011 Hello k7zpj, Thanks for the update. Only SwitchLincs with BEEP support LED brightness. With kind regards, Michel Quote
belias Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Hi Michel, I'm also having a problem setting the LED brightness on a 2477D SWL. It does support beep, so I was expecting this to work... Any ideas? (Using 2.8.12) Thanks, - Brian Quote
Michel Kohanim Posted February 11, 2011 Author Posted February 11, 2011 Hi Brian, I am not sure! Although I do not think upgrade is going to help, but please upgrade to 2.8.14 so we have the same point of reference. Also, can you send beep commands through programs and does your SWL actually beep? With kind regards, Michel Quote
k7zpj Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Michel, My 2477D does produce an audible beep in response to the beep command from a program. That is why I am confused about your response "Only SwitchLincs with BEEP support LED brightness" ISY Firmware Level: 2.8.14 Information from the switch lable. 2477DIV (Ivory instead of white) V6.0 1038 Program that I used to cause the 2477D to beep: If - No Conditions - (To add one, press 'Schedule' or 'Condition') Then Repeat Every 3 seconds Set 'Outside Lights / Outside Lights Master Bedroom' 250 (Beep Duration) Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Let me know if need any additional information. Regards, Bruce (K7ZPJ) Quote
