Michel Kohanim Posted February 14, 2011 Author Posted February 14, 2011 Hello ficklma1, Yes, 2.8.15 MUST fix that issue. Please do let us know if it didn't. bocaray, thanks so very much. Looking forward to your feedback. With kind regards, Michel Quote
bmarsh Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Updated frin 2.8.6 to 2.8.15 and it runs ok under Firefox (linux). But I usually run the Java applet.... I downloaded a new applet but I am getting a "not found" message when I try to run it. It flashes the Universal logo but then gives me the "not found" message. Any ideas on how to fix? Thanks. Quote
Michel Kohanim Posted February 15, 2011 Author Posted February 15, 2011 Hello bmarsh, What happens if you go directly to the ISY's IP address? Or, in the case of Finder, adding http://your.isy.ip.address in the list? With kind regards, Michel Quote
ficklma1 Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 After the update, I've had a few issues with controlling through the REST interface. I started getting time outs. I've since unplugged the PLM/rebooted the ISY and disabled --> unplugged my thermostats --> plugged them back in --> re-enabled the thermostats. So far after doing that things seems to be working ok. I'll report back in a few days on my findings. Thanks. Quote
Michel Kohanim Posted February 16, 2011 Author Posted February 16, 2011 Hello ficklma1, Please do make sure you do not have any 0101 green icons on any of your nodes. It might be the case that ISY is trying to write pending updates. With kind regards, Michel Quote
bmarsh Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 Hello bmarsh, What happens if you go directly to the ISY's IP address? Or, in the case of Finder, adding http://your.isy.ip.address in the list? If I use firefox and go to the ip, I get the Universal Devices page with options of Devices Scenes - - - Admin console. I have to click on Admin console twice to bring up the login for the console. After login, it shows me 'system busy' Rebooted the isy99 and now I can see the devices. However, trying to use the java app still gives me "not found". In addition, I believe using the browser and going to the ip address is crashing Firefox. I had about three crashes while writing this note. Quote

Thanks for the pointer. Quote
ficklma1 Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 Hi Michel, Thanks for the advice. I've checked and no 0101 green icons appear next to any of my devices. Here's what I've noticed and it seems to be isolated to my Thermostats (possibly other RF devices too, but I only have Thermostats) --- I occasionaly get a REST message back stating 404 page not found. If I wait 15-30 seconds and try again it's fine and can set the setpoints on the thermostats up or down and it responds fairly quick. I may leave it alone for awhile, come back and try to set it up or down and get the 404 page not found error. I hope this may help your team pinpoint what could be happening with the REST interface. FWIW, going through the admin console, I don't have any delays changing settings on the thermostats. Thanks for the support. Quote
Michel Kohanim Posted February 17, 2011 Author Posted February 17, 2011 Hello ficklma1, Thanks so very much for the detail. 404 means that the REST command failed; i.e. it could not complete the task so perhaps ISY is having problems communicating with your thermostat. May I humbly suggest the following: When you get REST errors, would you be kind enough to go back to the Admin Console and check and see if the icon for your thermostat has changed to ! ? With kind regards, Michel Quote
ficklma1 Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Hi Michel, I'll check the next time I get the 404 error. Thanks for the suggestion. Quote
ficklma1 Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Hi Michel, I just tried a few up and down thermostat settings on my GUI interface(REST commands) I didn't get the a 404, but it seems the REST interface is not responding, so I tried to log into the admin console. It will not come up. I get the ISY Finder dialog box, but no ISY appears and I never get the splash screen. Should I reboot/unplug the PLM? Thanks Quote
jellis Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Not sure if this is related but the update went fine but then the next day I lost communication with all devices. I am in the process of re-adding everything now. Thanks, James Quote
dennisric Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 Just tried to update to new 2.8.15 come up with two errors at about 6% thru: upgrade failed:Invalidlength and Socket open failed java.IOException:An established connection was aborted by the software in your host machine. I did the 2.8.14 update last week and it went just fine no problems but can't load 2.8.15. Quote

The upgrade would not erase any existing links. Rand Quote

Michel Kohanim Posted February 18, 2011 Author Posted February 18, 2011 Hello ficklma1, Apologies for tardy reply ... I think it's best for me to explain how ISY works so perhaps it will give you some pointers: 1. There are a limited number of HTTP tasks 2. REST and Admin Console communicate with ISY through the HTTP tasks 3. Some HTTP tasks are synchronous and thus will wait for the operation to be completed 4. Operations that are device related are synchronous, so, the task doing the job is going to wait for the process to finish 5. If you send REST commands continuously to increment/decrement setpoints, you will eventually exhaust all the HTTP tasks (some of them are waiting for the first one to complete) 6. In the case of thermostats, each operation may take up to a 35 seconds depending on the communications reliability. So, in case you have issues with a thermostat, and in case you have exhausted all HTTP tasks (by changing the setpoint continuously), then you will not be able to access ISY till all operations are complete. This might take a few minutes In short, instead of rebooting ISY, please wait for a couple of minutes and observe the RX/TX LEDs. If they are still blinking (even though infrequently), then ISY is still trying to complete all the tasks. Hi James, That does not make sense at all. Did you have communications errors? Adding them back to ISY is not going to solve the original problem which I think is PLM related. Next time this happens, please call our tech support before taking drastic measures. Hi dennisric, 1. What URL are you using? 2. What is your firewall software? With kind regards, Michel Quote

bocaray Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 Ok, just upgraded and this time unplugged the PLM then plugged it back in and all went well. Thanks Quote
robandcathy1 Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 I am having a issue with the motion sensors keep getting 20000/51 error I tried 3 different motion sensors. All other 31 devices work fine. Just seems to be motion sensors. Any thoughts?? Quote
LeeG Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 robandcathy Do you have other RF devices (RemoteLinc, TriggerLinc) that are working? Do you have a Venstar thermostat with Insteon adaptor? Each motion sensor that has lost RF communication, it is in linking mode before the changes are attempted? What Dual Band device is being used to communicate with the motion sensors? Any chance it has been unplugged or moved out of range? Lee Quote
