sanders2222 Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 I am experiencing something new & different. I added a program this morning and was modifying another when all of a sudden, nothing seems to be working. Communications between the ISY and the house has stopped (v3.1.2). I can run a program from the console and the Event Viewer shows programs are running and firing commands. but there are no physical changes to devices controlled by the programs. I can see the status of devices on the console but cannot change them. Some statuses are wrong (shows ON but is OFF). If I try to turn something off that is on, I'll get a communication error (then red exclamation mark by the device). I have never seen this widespread behavior before. Is there a process I can follow to diagnose where my issue may be? It seems my PLM has stopped working.
LeeG Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 sanders2222 Remove power from ISY and PLM for 60 seconds. Does it work after restoring power? If No, move a pluggable device, LampLinc or ApplianceLinc to same circuit as the PLM. Does the relocated device work reliably? If not probably a bad PLM but it could be something on the PLM circuit that is causing significant interference. Does direct device to device control work? If so more indication the PLM is bad or something on PLM circuit is interfering with PLM communication. Unfortunately Insteon analysis is the process of elimination. Let us know what the results of the above test are. Lee
sanders2222 Posted April 15, 2011 Author Posted April 15, 2011 Thanks LeeG Does direct device to device control work? Yes. And I could see the ISY was working. Unplugging the PLM for at least 60 seconds restored ISY control and seemed to correct most communication issues. There are still a few, I will see how things respond in the morning and if I can resolve a 1101. I can't write to the device at the moment. I don't think I've ever seen a failure with the PLM like this before. There have been individual device communication issues but my system has performed fairly reliably over a year now. Nothing was added or removed to the circuit I am aware of. I did add four devices and replace a KPL this week, but I'm not sure how this would relate to the PLM failure.
