Xathros Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 How do I apply for access to the beta ? Thanks. -Xath
LeeG Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Xathros As with all Betas the announcement post that it is actually available (the above post says tentative 3/16/2012) will have a link to download the beta image.
Xathros Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Thanks LeeG. It's been a while since I've done ISY betas but last time around, I remember having to specificly request access to the beta as they were not posted to the forum. -Xath
Brian H Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 No you don't have to request betas anymore. There will be an announcement post with links and instructions. I have a few I2CS modules from the developers group offer and will give it a try when avilable.
skchai Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 Michel, Are you still on track to post 3.2.0 (Beta) today (3/16/2012)?
Michel Kohanim Posted March 16, 2012 Author Posted March 16, 2012 Hello all, Release 3.2.0 is now available. With kind regards, Michel
oberkc Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 I installed 3.2.0 and experienced no problems. My existing shortcuts to the ISY continued to work. I did not have to use the posted link to find my ISY. I installed two fanlincs. Both appear to be working fine. I am in the process of creating scenes. So far...so good. I added them manually, choosing fanlinc from the menu. I have not tried an automatic or auto discover linking proces. I have one more fanlinc to install (both physically and into the ISY). Perhaps I will try an automatic installation here, just for fun. Thanks, again, for the fine support. I would not want to rely on manual linking for fan modules, given the difficulty of access. I believe this represents another strong example of the ISY-99 saving insteon.
nedsmith Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 I installed a FanLinc, but it isn't working (no light, no fan). Using firmware 3.2.0. The device seemed to get added properly. I tried various troubleshooting checks including resetting FanLinc to factory defaults. The factory reset process didn't complete as outlined in the guide. Do you think the FanLinc is defective?
LeeG Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 “Do you think the FanLinc is defective?: No. How long have you had the FanLinc? The Factory Reset would normally wipe out the links the device add created. Suggest deleting the FanLinc and add it back. Two things to check first though. Click on Help | About and make sure the Firmware line and the UI line both say 3.2.0. I not then clear the Java cache and use the URL for accessing the 3.2.0 Admin Console. Second, run Tools | Diagnostics | Event Viewer with Level 3-Device communications events selected. Now perform the new device add and post the event log. .

LeeG Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 nedsmith The Event trace of the FanLinc device add does not show any errors. Do you see two nodes listed for the FanLinc after the device add? If so what happens when the Light node is select and the On button at the bottom of the screen is pressed? Does the FanLinc Light status LED turn Green? If not what is the On Level (applied locally) slider position? If in the left position 0% move the slider to the 100% position and try the On button again.
LeeG Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 nedsmith In addition to the On Level (Applied Locally) slider to 100%, move the Ramp Rate (Applied Locally) slider to 0.1 seconds. Also from the event trace it looks like the Device Type field specified FanLinc. Nothing wrong with that selection, I have installed one of the original FanLincs with that option and it works fine once the On Level (Applied Locally) slider is moved to 100%. However, the FanLinc Firmware level will indicate v.00 when Auto Discover is not used. Before getting too far along I suggest deleting the FanLinc and adding it back using Auto Discover so the FanLinc firmware level will be displayed. EDIT: the Ramp Rate (Applied Locally) can remain at 9 minutes. The FanLinc is one of those devices that treat a 9 minute ramp rate as 0.2 seconds.
nedsmith Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 Why isn't failure to initialize 14.9F.6B considered an error? Sat 03/17/2012 10:07:02 PM : [FileOpen ] Open failed for [/CONF/149F6B.REC] ® Sat 03/17/2012 10:07:02 PM : DB: Cannot init 149F6B.REC
LeeG Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 That is (would be) a file on the SD card. Nothing to do with the FanLinc itself. EDIT: when are you seeing that message. I saw it during device add but that was at the beginning of the process before the device was added. If this is happening during a restart it would explain why the On Level (Applied Locally) value is not being restored.
nedsmith Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 Tried deleting and re-adding using Auto Discover and that seemed to do the trick! Thanks!
Dan S Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 I've just tried out the 3.2.0. I've installed numerous fanlincs in a new house and am looking forward to getting them working with various controllers. Are you going to have a mechanism to connect a scene with each fan speed? According to the manual, there is a way to do it manually, but I haven't tried it. Are you going to add control over the fanlinc LEDs so I can shut them off? Thanks Dan S
LeeG Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Regarding the Fan speed, the Responder On Level of the Fan indicates speed. Move the Scene On Level slider to the Fan speed (Off, Low Med High) desired for the Scene..
