bconen Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 I have a 2476DH v38 high wattage dimmer. This dimmer controls some of the can lights in the kitchen and another low wattage dimmer controls two other can lights. I have the two switches linked as three-way so either can turn on all the lights. Everything worked fine for several years but recently the high wattage dimmer does not work properly. The low wattage dimmer will always control the high wattage dimmer, on and off. The high wattage dimmer will always control it's loads but most times will not control the other dimmer. Some times it will, but now most time is will not. My ISY says it can not communicate with the dimmer. However, it will control it, just not report back status. Can also control the dimmer with Mobilinc but it won't report status. I have checked all the wiring connections. I have tried restoring the device but nothing works. Could this just be a bad dimmer?
Vyrolan Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 It's possible that the dimmer is indeed going bad. Have you added any new devices recently? It's possible that some device installed or just plugged in somewhere could be causing intermittent communications issues. Did the bulbs recently get replaced in the lights or anything like that?
oberkc Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 What kinds of bulbs are in the fixtures? Something other than incandescent?
bconen Posted December 18, 2012 Author Posted December 18, 2012 They are 65W R30 can lights. I have not changed anything. I have another location that I need a high wattage dimmer so I am considering buying another, putting the new one in this location and see if I have the same issue.
