Release 3.1.6 (Beta) Is Now Available
sanders2222 replied to Michel Kohanim's topic in Previous Releases
Thanks LeeG. The reboot re-connected my ISY to the network and I am able to log back onto my admin console. As you stated, my log files are complete too. Thanks for your advice. -

Do you know if I will loose the error log if I reboot the ISY? Sorry for my post on resetting the ISY, I meant re-boot, not reset. But I also would like to preserve the log if that is possible. Clearing the Java cache did not restore my ISY network connection. -

Now that I'm back home, I find I cannot log onto the ISY using the Java desktop application or Browser. So my problems may not have anything to do the motel's WiFi. It appears the programs are executing but I am not receiving any notifications. So something is amiss. I think if I have to reset the ISY, I won't have an error log to view. Is there another workaround to resetting things? Jim I get I timeout message using the Broswer and with the Java application, the Insteon Finder window opens, but that's all. I noticed My Lighting does not show up on my network either, so it looks like that connection has been lost. Maybe I should reboot my router to see if that can reconnect things. -

I was using a remote connection for the first time under 3.1.6 and found my connection to the ISY very unstable. I don't know if I'm reporting a bug or a problem with Best Western's WiFi. It seems I can connect and log into my home console alright and all device statuses show. But then I get open socket error message and I have to check off the licensing agreement before a time out error kicks me off the connection this morning. Last evening when I tried, my connection was just a little bit better. I was able to log in and change a device status, but the console would not confirm a change unless I logged off and logged back into the system. -

After I updated from 3.1.5 my notifications began working again. But I'm noticing the time I receive the notification can sometimes be more than a hour from when the event was registered in the ISY Programs/Summary tab. For example, my arrival time today was 9:55:40 AM. But the time on my cell phone message (the actual time the message buzzed me) was 10:39 AM. The time on my email message for the same event was 5:38 PM but it came in around 10:39 AM. Occasionally, I've noticed messages don't come at all. Today I left the house (away mode) at 8:00:45 AM and neither my phone or email notification came through at all. So just wondering if anyone else has experienced this or could my notification configuration be off? -

If you want a 'set it and forget it' system, why are you upgrading to the latest betas? The official release is 2.8.16. -

Michel, Thank you for this timely update. I'm happy to report my notifications are working again! I'll re-check a couple of my programs where variables were not being evaluated correctly UNLESS all conditions were all enclosed in 'outside' parenthesis. I'll remove the outside parenthesis (if I can find them) and see if that issue has been resolved. -
Wireless Device that can natively work with ISY...

I know this will work. http://www.smarthome.com/4003/X10-RC6500-16-Device-X10-Base-Unit-with-Keychain-Remote-for-2-Devices/p.aspx And the transmitter and receiver are only $15 on sale! I use a EZX10RF for my receiver. That unit is capable of receiving the X10 RF signals from the 'tweeker' and linking that signal to a scene or Insteon device. -

Clarence, It seems to me this only occurs when program conditions involve variables. I did not see this problem before, only after I replaced program flags with variables. It must have something to do with how the values in the database are refreshed and/or get re-evaluated in the programs. Unless a beta version can address this, it's worth considering going back to release 3.1.4. Jim -

I've been replacing some program flags with variables and noticed the conditions that contained variables (see below) would not report correctly unless I enclosed the conditions in parenthesis. This replicates the same issue CMartin noted [see edit]. Folder Conditions for 'Evening' If ( Program 'Flag Party' is False And $iTimeDayNight is 1 And $iAway is 0 ) Then Allow the programs in this folder to run. EDIT: Except this folder status reported correctly when all 3 conditions were program flags. After I removed 2 flags, replacing them with variables, the condition was not reporting correctly. -
Wireless Device that can natively work with ISY...
sanders2222 replied to Kev1000000's topic in ISY994
I have my home set up to go into AWAY mode with the touch of a button (Leave scene adds 2 min delay before checking if the door is closed). A return to HOME mode scene begins when the door opens. A security system still requires acknowledgement after door is open or broken into and I receive confirmation on my phone of these events success or failure. This way, when I'm ten blocks from home and my wife asks me if I closed the garage door, I can say yes, the house just said I did! I sometimes forget to punch to the button when I leave, so I use a home link button in my car that sends an x10 RF signal to set the Leave scene. That saves me having to get out of the car to go push the button. However, taking your idea a step farther, I'd like to find a way to create a signature for my car or myself that will identify when I leave or come home. A driveway gate automatically opens when loops in the drive detect the car passing. We also had something like this at my office that used a security card in my wallet to open doors, etc. Now that would be cool. -
How does WeatherBug module work in program statements?
sanders2222 replied to sanders2222's topic in ISY994
Thanks Michel for the quick reply to my mind-numbing questions. And on a Sunday evening no less! U-D customer service is second to none. You make home automation possible at an affordable cost! I for one, am looking forward to the coming Elk update. Jim -
I recently added the WeatherBug module and have 3 programs that check rainfall (sprinklers) and/or temperature (HVAC). I set my module Polling Interval to every 3 minutes. I notice under my Program/Summary tab, 2 programs that include the module temperature in the 'if' clause seem to run frequently throughout the day, even though if conditions remain false. The program that deals with rainfall only does not run (maybe because it's not raining today). Does the polling interval have something to do with this? OR are they evaluated anytime the polled temperature or rainfall changes from the last poll? For example, in my program WB_RainReset: If Time is 6:00:01PM And Module 'Climate' Temperature > 78 °F And Module 'Climate' Rain Today < 0.11 " Then $iWB_NextIrrigateDay = $iDayofYear $iWB_NextIrrigateDay Init To $iWB_NextIrrigateDay Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') This program seems to run frequently, even though the status of the if clause does not change and it's not 6 PM. Watching for awhile today the above program ran at 4:10:46, 4:16.46, 4:28:46 and 4:40:47 (time intervals seem almost divisible by 3 minutes). Maybe 'when the program runs' is not important, as long at the correct evaluation takes place when it does. It just seems like a lot of unnecessary ISY CPU traffic.

Release 3.1.4 (Beta) Is Now Available

Hello danswatman It's not that type of module and you won't see it under the Config tab. Look under Help/About to see if your ETo module was installed. Then check this link on how to use the irrigation feature this module provides http://www.universal-devices.com/mwiki/index.php?title=ISY-99i/ISY-26_INSTEON:Auto_Irrigation_Program_v2 -
Michel, I was able to contact Darrell and he verified I had a valid weather station location. He suggested I clear the Java Cache and by doing that, the find/location options under the Config/Climate tab worked! He also suggested I use the ISY Finder to set up a desktop icon for opening the Console, which avoids having to open my browser to access the ISY. I had no idea there was an option for one. Thanks again for your quick response, your suggestions and for the tip to create a desktop icon. You people at U-D ROCK!

Venstar TStat - programs to check/reset communication
sanders2222 replied to oskrypuch's topic in ISY994
Thanks *Orest for this refinement. I added the Venstar communication check programs you posted months ago. They worked gr8! But for some reason, I have never experienced a communication error ever since I plugged one of my Access points directly into my PLM. Everything has worked since then. I ran your programs for a few weeks but since I never got an error message, I disabled them. Not getting rid of them though! I'm about to venture into a new ELK security system with whole house audio distribution. That install will also relocate my PLM to that area because I can't stand that lump of plug-ins hanging off the wall in my den. I anticipate this may introduce a whole new set of communication issues. Hopefully, it won't be with my t-stat. -
Michel, Thanks again for responding to me. I'm hoping you can figure this out because I'm stumped! No problems. I'd say I get nearly 100% of all messages sent. I'm also able to access the ISY console from any remote site via an Internet connection. My system has been pretty stable now for over a year, but these are the first modules I have added. I haven't ever monitored that. But if you are referring to a clock issue, I have never noticed that the time reported by the ISY is any different than the time on my PC(s). Synchronizing the system (under the Config/System tab) didn't change anything. My ipconfig reports my DCHP Enabled is yes. That should indicate I have a dynamic IP address. However, with Comcast Broadband I think my IP address has rarely changed. I tried different zip code locations and all report zero. Repeating error messages in the Event viewer include: Sun 07/03/2011 01:31:13 PM : [FileOpen ] Open failed for [/CONF/ELK.CNF] ® Sun 07/03/2011 01:31:19 PM : [FileOpen ] Open failed for [/CONF/ELEC.CFG] ® Sun 07/03/2011 01:31:23 PM : [FileOpen ] Open failed for [/CONF/ELK.CNF] ® Sun 07/03/2011 01:32:55 PM : CLI-WBug: Error Parsing Response Sun 07/03/2011 01:38:53 PM : CLI-WBug: Error Parsing Response I am about to integrate in a new Elk security system and Russound audio distribution system so I hope this problem is something simple. I thought all the bugs were sorted out of this system. I upgraded to 3.1.4 and added Weatherbug and Sprinkler modules. The Climate tab comes up fine but every data value is zero. I selected a close location and checked the enabled box. Still nothing. My event viewer shows: Sat 07/02/2011 08:15:00 PM : CLI-WBug: Connecting to datafeed.weatherbug.com Sat 07/02/2011 08:15:00 PM : CLI-WBug: Error Parsing Response I'm thinking Weatherbug doesn't like me. How can I fix this?
-
I did that on my laptop. Results were strange and did not re-set the program code font colors. Under your link, I tried to check the version number but only a blank box with 'OK' button would come up. When I went to the Program Details tab, the program files and folders were all scrambled and not in their proper places. Many programs had the green arrow (indicating they weren't saved) and of the few programs I clicked on, none of the code was present. I closed the console and went to another PC to call up the console. Under 3.1.3 all appears normal (on both laptop and PC desktop) with the exception of the font color on the program code (dark blue) plus any if condition with time is dark blue on white background. Both my PC & laptop have Windows Vista (latest SP) and I use Foxfire 4.0.1 browser to access the console.
-
Simple, and to the point. I like your code oberkc
-
The dark blue font looks & reads OK on my laptop. But your suggestion for color customization may be useful.

Short answer: Yes See the Wiki for some help on how to do this. http://www.universal-devices.com/mwiki/index.php?title=ISY-99i/ISY-26_INSTEON:Linking_a_Thermostat I use a KPL button to put my place in the 'Away' mode when I'm leaving, and after I come home, opening the garage door switches things back.

2450 I/O Linc Garage Door Status Reporting Question
sanders2222 replied to sanders2222's topic in ISY994
WOW! You're suggestion to swap out my magnetic contacts to NO (and wiring them parallel) will give me the set up and results I am looking for. Thanks for the tip. UD should include this information re: the behavior of the IO Link and system queries in the Garage door WIKI as another option. -
2450 I/O Linc Garage Door Status Reporting Question
sanders2222 replied to sanders2222's topic in ISY994
Thanks LeeG, you nailed it. Any query does return an ON status even though my doors are closed. The scene is not controlled by the query, therefore is not effected by this status. Since I monitor things when away, I plan to follow your recommendation and change the I/O trigger back so the green LED is ON when the doors are open. Unfortunately, the status of the I/O will show ON when the doors are closed, which is backwards from my perspective, but at least the console will be in sync with what happens. Thanks again for your help!
