  1. I would just be happy to see Zigbee locks and TSTAT's to be supported. The other HA devices could be supported later on, time permitting. Otherwise my only recourse is to upgrade one of my ISY to the Z-Wave model which (currently) can't talk two way with the Zigbee ISY I have now. The cleanest approach is to provide support with Zigbee for locks and TSTAT's. Off memory I believe I saw related threads indicating Zigbee TSTATS were supported but I don't recall what brands / models. As always, I thank UDI and you, for their endless support and development of the ISY platform. Teken . . .
  2. Please add me in as another person strongly wanting support for the Zigbee protocol. It seems the Zigbee protocol has been relegated to only energy management and nothing else. Lets please move forward and provide the same support for TSTAT, Locks, and other related devices. Teken . . .

You can't turn off remotely, not locally, correct? Teken . . .

You can absolutely use a UPS to protect the ISY. That does not address the fact the PLM is not on a UPS. Teken . . .

As stated some members have placed both of their ISY & PLM on a UPS to avoid any power outages. The reality is what can these people control when there is no power? My goal was only to protect both devices against electrical surge events not so much having the ability to control the Insteon network. Teken Encrypted By: Phoenix Security Solutions

Some have placed both devices on a UPS via Filterlinc. This forces the PLM to only broadcast via RF and appears to work for those using this method. I personally believe its best to have both modes of communications via power line and RF to ensure the most robust Insteon network. My set up has the ISY protected by three different surge power conditioners, which is also powered via two different UPS systems. The PLM is protected by three layers of surge protectors in the home. A Type 1 primary surge protector is installed at the service entrance meter. A Type 2 secondary surge protector at the service panel. Lastly, a Type 3 point of use surge alarm electrical outlet protectors the PLM. Some highly sensitive electronic gear is bridged using SSR's and optical relays to provide 100% isolation and surge / lightning protection. Teken . . .
  7. Perhaps a RMA is in order as it sounds like you tried all the trouble shooting steps. Teken Encrypted By: Phoenix Security Solutions
  8. You can also perform a cheap hack to reduce the MS field of view. Simply apply some tape or what ever masking agent you wish to the lower portion of the sensor. This will allow the kitty cat to roam around undetected. Teken . . .

  10. Have you tried linking it both manually vs entering the Insteon ID? Try the other and report back the outcome. Also, for the sake of asking please remove the other one and place it in the same spot and see if it links. You should also confirm phase coupling using the 4 tap method. Once known that at least confirms a good network connection. If there are any filtering devices like a surge protector, UPS, computer etc please unplug them while you do this. Teken . . .
  11. You can not guarantee you won't have a leak. That comes hand in hand with time and age of the building and the environment. What you have done is, being proactive with a solution that will assist you in reducing the amount of damage that may occur. As another member indicated in all cases you will need to wipe up / clean the area of water. As you noted even when this valve activated there was plenty of water in the system to run out. If you have wooden floors every bit of water containment is important. Ceramic / lanolin flooring not so much . . . In all cases, as I indicated local control of the water supply is paramount if the total amount of water to be negated is the end goal. Teken . . .
  12. The hot water tank is another area you need to consider interrupting. Teken . . . Encrypted By: Phoenix Security Solutions
  13. I believe it serves a dual function. One being if the sensor fails to operate with in specification (End Of Life Use) . The other when the battery in the system is low. Teken . . .
  14. What would be the safety issues that you're thinking of? I can tell you that I have left the hose on in the backyard MANY times and sometimes even overnight. Sucks for the water bill but I've never observed any safety issues. I was planning to install a pulse flow meter for the hose in the backyard just for that reason. What redundancies are you thinking would be necessary? Seems simple. Add logic in ISY and Elk to check status of both valves which can be done with the Elk valves. If InsideValve is OPEN and OutsideValve is Open THEN Close OutsideValve. Overall it seems low risk. The only risk I see is wasting water and dollars on the water bill. Small cost for the protection added of being able to drain pressure and water from the house during a leak. As of indicated in the other thread having the ability to bypass the system manually is paramount. Next in my mind is to have a back up system that does not rely on electricity should it not be present or if there is a failure in communications. A perfect example of this is my back up sump pump system. There are three systems at play here one being the standard 120 VAC primary pump. Should that fail the secondary pump will kick in if water rises to its level. Should that also fail due to a bad pump, drained battery, or electronic failure. The third system uses main water lines pressure to evacuate the water from the sump pit. In your case you need something that measures the water pressure mechanically and the position of the primary shut off valve. At that point something else needs to be able to react to this condition all the while confirming the release of water in the lines is required. Teken . . .
  15. That would be a most excellent idea but lots of safety and redundancy need to be implemented for a fail secure deployment. You certainly don't want to come home to find out the main water line is still in the open position and that outside spigot valve also in the wide open position! If you pursue this endeavourer please do track the development and installation of such. Teken . . .
  16. I believe you're headed in a good direction for starters. But, would suggest that you look into local water control / shut off. The amount of water in the lines is more than enough to cause damage to the immediate area. Areas of concern are the bathroom sinks, toilet's, washer, clothes washer, fridge, kitchen sink. Regardless, what you're doing is having the ability to turn off the main water supply. Which is 100 times more then the average person has ever considered doing so. So, you still get an A for effort. 18. This is more spit balling by me. Can anyone guess why Smarthome would not announce and explain new features in their devices? I find the lack of communication and secrecy from this company mind boggling at times. Teken . . .

  20. Like LeeG I rather not be tide to a NDA. Surprisingly, I rarely need diagnostic tools for trouble shooting my installs. I try to keep it simple by turning off breakers and unplugging known noise makers / signal suckers. Teken Encrypted By: Phoenix Security Solutions

Xathros, To be fair, the level of support and interaction from UDI is far above any known vendor I have used. I for one will sit on the side lines until such time as this product is ready for prime time. I have no stomach to Beta test yet for another vendor where the product is lack luster and the features which have been published is simply vapor ware. If this device comes to fruition and has all of the basic / advanced features it just might be worth my time. After reading their forums and the level of interaction along with development. I won't spend a dime at this time. Teken . . .

  25. If Status 'IO Linc Garage Door-Sensor' is On And From 7:00:00PM To 11:59:00PM (same day) Then Resource 'Garage Door: Has been left open ' Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') What is the expected behavior in this program? If the door is open from 7-11:59 PM an alert message will arrive? I am trying to redo a auto close feature for the GDO. But, want to ensure safeties are in place so this works as intended. Right now I have a program and a separate device that locks out the GDO when the alarm security system is in lock down mode. Teken . . .
