Poor OP, came here just for help and everyone is just piling on! ?

100% Nothing is worse than to go into someones home and nothing operates in a natural and intuitive manner. When people fail to follow basic human ergonomics the long term satisfaction of the family unit just goes down the toilet. There's nothing I do in my home where the *Average Joe* wouldn't know how to operate or understand the causal effect. The only exception to this rule is with respect to security measures implemented in the home. Nothing complicated but some extra steps are in place to ensure life and safety and 100% fail over and redundancy.

Sorry I noticed your question wasn't answered as it pertains to the PLM Restore. There is no downside besides investment in time but if the problem continues you literally wasted *Your Time*.

Hi, I suppose my view is to first identify the root cause before going full on. Unless the 994 Series Controller is on a UPS a possible cause is a loss of power. Upon reboot the system normally query's the entire Insteon network. If the 2413S PLM doesn't come back on line as the 994 Series Controller at the same time that would reflect on the red exclamation marks. If we simply assume this was a power blip it costs you nothing to do a quick test. Unplug the 994 Series Controller and let sit for 30 seconds. Restore power and confirm the system is fine and connects correctly to the 2413S PLM. If it doesn't as Brian noted it's possible the PLM may be failing so you can do a PLM Restore to see if that offers a *Break Fix*.

If you're dead set in going this route you need only select *Restore PLM*. If you have a 994 Series (Pro) controller select the battery icon to disable writes. Doing so will allow the system to complete all writes to hardwired devices first without you having to go running around placing a battery operated device into linking mode.

What firmware are you using now? If it’s 4.6.2 than go get that UI (Admin Console) from that specific thread. Once in place go back and confirm both match. If they do make a good back up copy. Next download what ever 4.XX / 5.XX firmware you wish and follow all the steps outlined by the release notes. As always, please consider reaching out to UDI directly so they can assist you remotely if none of the steps here work. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Looking forward to your personal experience and first hand review.

@smokegrub The most common reason for the 994 Series Controller not displaying the current status of hardware is if there was a power outage. If this condition happen all status will be lost until that device has been activated. Another possible root cause is if you disable the 3 AM Query all where the 994 Series Controller normally calls out to all devices as to their current operating status. The last possible cause is a failing 2413S PLM and the system begins to drop hardware links / associations. If your 2413S PLM isn't on the latest 2.5 hardware revision the *A Typical* 2 year service life may be the root cause.

- Make sure the computer you’re on is running the latest Java if not update it. Verify that UDI is correctly listed in the application. - Firewall: Ensure Windows or third party anti virus is not blocking the upgrade. - 4.XX Make a back up of your current system now so you can skip that step during the upgrade process. - Programs / Network Resources: Disable any of these that run actively like counting programs. - Motion Sensors: Avoid moving around or disable these devices. - 5.XX: Go to the 5.0.16C thread and down load the Z-Wave / ZigBee version of firmware doing so will allow the 994 Series Controller to continue to operate should your 2413S PLM Fail. Down load the Admin Console / Launcher called out at the bottom of the same thread. - Install 5.XX and kick back a few cold ones while it loads. As noted up above once complete make another system back up. Verify all programs do not have any yellow error messages. If so resolve until gone. Good luck [emoji6] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

A forum member in the past had made and sold a Somfy / Insteon integration module. I don't believe its still in production due to the lack of availability of some key components.

Awesome for the pictures! One thing I didn't see mentioned by you is (IF) you ever tried to link any of these Broan devices to another Insteon piece of hardware. I found my whole house Insteon water system would not link and pair to existing hardware. Very curious to see if you try what happens! As I could see the Broan system not showing up in the 994 Series Controller but would hope it would directly link to existing hardware.

I'll have to give you that as this device was made pretty much when Home Automation was just a novel idea and concept. Having the ability to communicate from remote sensors to a master controller in this case the main water supply. This was cutting edge in terms of being able to connect and communicate via RF. There was no such thing as BLE, WiFi, at a reasonable cost or energy consumption back then. Regardless, water monitoring is another business opportunity that Smartlabs has failed to capture on a larger scale.
-
Time permitting would you be so kind and show us the Broan Insteon switch?!? I would like to see what the Insteon ID, production, and revision numbers. As an aside there is a great American company called Flood Stop which way back in the day made an Insteon Flood Stop whole house system. Sadly, this specific device is also not supported by any known controller I am aware of. So much potential but squandered away by Smartlabs!

You are on Santa's good list!

No worries, but no matter what make sure you clear the Java Cache and select *Help -> About* to confirm the UI & Firmware are both the same. If there is a mismatch you may see odd behavior!
-
- Backup current 4.XX and make two copies - Update to 5.XX as outlined by the 5.0.16C thread. - Backup the current 5.XX and Rock On Roll . . .

Hi Rich, Just go to the same thread where you downloaded 4.XX (firmware) for the Admin Console / Launcher. Using the same Admin Console will than display that both firmware & UI are the same! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hi Rich, Well, I gather a lazy Sunday has become another day at the office! ? If you intend to roll back to a previous firmware release you of course will need to follow all the steps as to firmware updating. As noted by Larry download the correct 4.XX firmware, Admin Console / Launcher, and clear out the Java Cache. From there you can reload your 994 Series Controller from a good known working back up. I don't know what time it is where you are but suggest you do the following if you're hard set in doing this today. Go get something to eat and drink. Go to the washroom and do your business and freshen up. Grab a tall glass of your favorite beverage and buckle up and follow all the steps outlined for that 4.XX firmware. Let us know what happens and keep in mind you can always create a Service Request for UDI to assist you this week.

Hi Rich, From the Admin Console select a switch and choose *Options*. If you have LED on TX enabled as seen in this image capture please uncheck it for all switches in the home. Once done please confirm if the *Green* flashes have gone away. I would not install anything else or do anything to the Micro SD card until you identify root cause. As this will add more stress and headache to you trying to find out what is happening. Have you confirmed that your Insteon network is correctly coupled / bridged as outlined by the 4 tap beacon test indicated in the full users manual??

Mind sharing your thoughts about possibly migrating to MobiLinc Connect and what sways you to do so? The new MobiLinc X? [emoji848] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

You'll need to go into each program and remove the reference to that hardware you removed. Once done all of those error messages will go away and than you can make a backup of your system.
