I would like to add that after my vacuum solder sucker station died. The method used by apostolakisl That blasting the solder off the PCB with my compressor has worked perfectly! I normally wouldn't go this route due to possible contamination from water, oil, etc. But since my compressor has a inline filter to remove the above it wasn't an issue. Watching those solder balls fly off is pretty funny - well besides having to clean up the residue which is a real pain!

No, but please do let us know what the white sticker says. Once its connected to the ISY Series Controller please do let us know what the firmware is stated as. Would be very curious to know if its different than v9E - Super Curious!

That would be great if someone has time to look up what that API call is and format it correctly into JSON NR that would be greatly appreciated. Really wish I was close to a computer instead of sitting here in the back seat watching snow fall.

Thanks Gary will update the program code and see what happens. On a related note since the OpenElec has been turned off to play files in sequence. Is there a command that can over ride that parameter just one time in a ISY Program then revert back to playing only one vocal file? So this is what happen as I was testing out a few programs to see what the results were. When I linked a KPL button as the scene controller to the activate the vocal program. I had included two separate files and when the button was pressed *Julie US* initially stuttered, stopped, then played the second file? It quickly dawned on me the ISY Series Controller will not wait (pause) but will simply do what it was asked for which is fire off the network resources in sequence regardless of how long the sound file is. Obviously with red face in hand I added a wait in between the two NR's and *Julie US* did in fact play the NR files as expected. My use case is to load some music files into the RPI and have different genres: Dance, Rock, Country, Classical, R&B, Top 40, etc. The problem is I will literally have to add in a wait statement based on how long each song is before the next track is allowed to play. Does anyone have a more elegant way to accomplish this? I'm not home right now so can't test but another possibility was placing those music files in a folder and (IF) there is a JSON command that can over ride the Open Elec play once vs play all that would be the ideal solution. Does that exist?

Information Only: If time isn't a pressing issue you can also try using the *Write Device* option in the programs tab. You have two options for a hands free battery operated update which is based on the heart beat status or detection of movement for the MS. Using this option assumes the battery operated device has the *Heart Beat* node. As older hardware didn't have this new feature . . . Motion Sensors only need you to pass by their field of view and they will auto update to. Also note that this feature highly depends upon your Insteon network having a strong RF mesh to all battery operated devices where ever they may be. Lastly, some firmware in the hardware require you to use a wait from 0-3 seconds. The only device which still requires a physical press of the button are the remotes. Which again if you have the correct *wait* in place when you press any button on the RL2 / Remote Linc they will auto update. Not very much success has ever been seen auto updating the older brick style Remote Lincs however.

My fuzzy brain some how doesn't think this program looks right? Can someone who is sober, sane, and firing on all cylinders look over this simple program for me. This *proof of concept* program is supposed to monitor if the temperatures are from -35'C to -39'C and if so fire off the custom voice announcement I created. For what ever reason the operators don't look quite right.

Thanks for the extra resources but sadly after doing a quick test. The ATT TTS voice is very much 1980 robot talkish which compared to *Julie US* makes it look and sound utter crap.

Hello Kevkmartin, Could you provide a little more insight how this is done showing some image captures of the program(s)? Is this done using Thanatars voice solution or something completely different? Also is this being done using 4.XX vs 5.XX firmware - Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

LMAO . . . I kid you not besides getting Insteon, ISY Series Controller, Brultech GEM & Dash Box. This incredibly powerful, accurate, and flexible TTS voice has truly brought my home to a whole different level! Right now I'm juggling back and forth appending my *Install Thread* with the details of this massive achievement in voice announcement and creating the 200 plus NR's to reflect the 250 plus voice announcements. Merry XMAS and do share some of the vocal phrases you created. I would love to see what others are using for scripted phrases as I believe I covered most of the basic, medium, to some advanced voice phrases. The one problem I ran into is some words just sound wrong when Julie US says them so I had to use the magic of abbreviations and the reverb feature to tame her to sound more human.

I must be missing something obvious here because using the web browser results in a OK also like the test NR did. Yet there is no sound coming out of the connected speaker attached to the RPi?

If you have a Insteon motion sensor you can base a program on the dusk to dawn node being activated. If you have the real fancy 5-1 sensor you could use the light sensor built into that unit too for the same objective.

Yes, I confirmed the phrase is exactly the same as the test file. I'm going to change it to one long word and see what happens. This shouldn't be that complicated but since I never know what the controller is going to cry about for all I know its a fail on the network resource side. I just don't know . . .

OK, what I have done thus far so please check off anything I may have missed. - RPi: I enabled both analog and HDMI in the program and confirmed sound is indeed heard on the HDTV and USB Speaker. - Confirmed the IP address of the RPi which is 192.168.1.137 - The test NR looks like this simply copy and pasted from your example and for the sake of doing it I added an underscore to the test file called Entry_MS_Low_Battery.wav just in case the system wasn't liking the space between the words. - When I press TEST for the NR I receive the expected 200 which I have appended in this reply. - I've initiated the NR in the dummy program just in case there was a difference in behavior still no joy. /jsonrpc?request={%22jsonrpc%22:%222.0%22,%22id%22:%221%22,%22method%22:%22Player.Open%22,%22params%22:{%22item%22:{%22file%22:%22storage/music/Entry_MS_Low_Battery.wav%22}}}

I know lots of people are like me who simply want to see and hear the end results of something. Because some times written text simply doesn't relay the same experience or meaning. Below is just a quick video how I defined some of 250 plus voice announcements in hopes of using them in my HA. I had been asked a few times in this thread and via PM to show case how I made *Julie US* stop, pause, and emphasize my TTS announcements. There are a few you will notice how this worked out so perfectly: Currently I am working on the NR's which doesn't seem to be working besides the fact I'm constantly fighting with the blasted ISY Series Controller! The stupid thing constantly says java blah blah, takes what seems like days to just load the program tab. Once the bloody thing finally loads I am presented with yet a dozen error messages of blah blah! I always feel I'm walking on egg shells of late with this controller and it seems to be maxed out in resources etc. Anyways enjoy the video and hope it inspires many more to do the very same. I am going to copy and paste the NR and see if anyone see's something obvious.

Didn't have much time to test last night as it was really late so didn't want to blast the house with voices. But the NR when activated via a dummy program didn't activate the USB speaker. [emoji848]☹️ I'm going to have to see what the sound output is and source is set for on the RPi. As an aside I did hear some hiss & noise using two different speakers so it's obvious that analog output isn't very high quality vs the other HDMI, I/O pins. [emoji36] In the NR string if you have a file called: walk the dog how should that be represented in the string? With spaces, without, under score? I used all three in the text string and nothing could be heard from the RPi speaker. ========================= The highest calling in life is to serve ones country faithfully - Teach others what can be. To expand a little bit of what Stu offered here once you upgrade your ISY Series Controller to a pro unit. You will see a little green battery icon which you will simply enable. This will cause the green battery icon to turn grey which means during the PLM Restore the system will not attempt to write to those battery operated devices. Once the restore process has completed all you need to do is select one battery operated device from the device tree and right mouse click and select *Write Updates*. Doing so will issue the write process which were pending in the system in the beginning. You will continue selecting each battery device which shows a 1011 icon next to them until that marker goes away. NOTE: Once you receive your new 2413S PLM would you please indicate what is written on the white stickers for the production date and hardware revision. Also select the help tab and let us know what the ISY notes as the firmware for the PLM. Lastly, please ensure you place a sticker on the top of the unit of the install date of the PLM so you have a point of reference to when it was physically installed and put into production. Hello Mmoore99, Surprisingly, the TTS web application simply accepts common spelling punctuation's and spaces to invoke a stop, pause, and emphasis. I had recalled this feature in a similar TTS service I trialed more than eight years ago which unfortunately was abandoned. If you enter say: Warning!!! Julie will actually emphasize that phrase. If you place a comma like: Hello, how are you <- This will create a short pause. I also noticed if you simply added space between the words this too would cause a pause in her vocal speech. So if you wrote out the following: Hello how are you <-- The space between the hello and how would cause her to pause then speak. A simple period would also cause her to make a line break which in laymens terms is simply a pause. But using a combination of each this makes the voice and tempo of her speech come across more natural. As some phrases give off an odd synthesized sound at least to me. In a few cases I used the reverb feature because no matter what I did the word I selected didn't sound human enough to me so adding the reverb oddly enough made her sound more human in tone and pitch. Which I used also but didn't find any of those options to have much benefit besides sounding like chip monks, or some cheap sci-fi sound effect.

Thanatar, I have almost completed all of the predefined voice messages. Network Resource: When you select add another pop up window appears to select *Header* details. Is anything being select and if so what option is chosen here? As I noticed your last field indicates *Content Length = 0*

I will check for that setting for sure - but when I call the NR the system is simply going to play only that WAV file, correct?
