  1. I just transferred the first 20 or so files and totally forgot the RPi was attached to my HDTV. I was running all over the house trying to find that silly USB speaker. When I selected the music folder I almost got blasted on to the master bedroom floor as I had the volume cranked up watching *Saving Private Ryan* last night. Anyways the entire folder started playing consecutively and just WOW! Crystal clear audio being pushed out via the HDMI ports and through the sound system. No hiss, no hum, no buzz, nothing - just a sweet voice which I can tell you would date anytime! Once I finish most of the voice announcements I will push forward with making the NR's to connect to the RPi. Once that is done I will sit down and craft some programs and see how it operates in a real world condition. I know I've said this a few times but thank you so very much Thanatar! This has been one of the easiest voice deployments I have seen yet and will really be helping me complete my project. I plan to document all the steps and the resources that were needed to complete this task once I am done. Full credit will be called out in Project Titan to you and many others. Thank You!
  2. Thanatar, I must have fell off the couch and hit my head because (Samba) was just enabled and that was so obvious . . . Thank You!
  3. I'm just in the beginning stages of this awesome project and haven't even loaded anything to the RPi. Right now I am just focused on making all of the voice announcements. Once that is done I will import them to the RPi and hook up some cheap powered computer speakers and give it a listen. What program are people using to access the RPi with a GUI so I can see the directory and dump the files to the Micro SD card?
  4. I have to tell you this website that does the TTS offers some of the most useful (basic) and expected features. Most of the websites I have seen and played with there was no method to make the robot stop, pause, or emphasize a phrase / sentence. This one however allows this and when you record the voice it offers that *Almost* real human voice. Once again much thanks to all of you who have taken the time to share your invaluable projects, insight, and knowledge. Each and every one of you will be 2016 super hero's in my books because this is really starting to round out my HA. Right now I am making all of the low battery, leak sensor voice alerts. Next are some security related TTS I have always wanted to have and deploy in my home. Julie (US) is my preferred girl and thus far meets the balance of soft, distinct, and focused voice. I don't know how many weather and energy voice alerts I will make but thus far I have come up with at least 89 conditions I want to be vocalized! Guess I know what this week end has in store for yours truly after hitting the gym!
  5. I just don't know why this is so hard I've selected every option in the program and yet the software insists upon using the laptops built in speaker? The good news is my voice is clearly record via the built in microphone but sadly selecting the sound card for the computer still makes the robot ladies voice to be recorded from the speaker opposed to the sound card? I must have selected every option in dozens of combinations and it still won't record her from the sound card. EDIT: I believe this has been sorted out - Not sure why the previous selection didn't work as I selected the same bloody thing five other times! The program must have been in some kind of unknown state. Cripes . . .
  6. OK on to the next steps how do I configure Audacity to record the sound from the computers sound card and not from the built in microphone?
  7. OK just got home and couldn't stand to wait for the week end to come so decided to move forward with this. I downloaded the image provided by Thanatar and unzipped the file and mounted it with Win32DiskImager. Once complete I moved the Micro SD card to the RPi and loaded it up. When the RPi booted up I see the system indicating various messages but nothing is happening? Did I miss a step here or is there something else that needs to be done to make the program continue? EDIT: Never mind the system just stated rebooting! I guess I'm too used to seeing a scrolling dot or status bar. Let me continue on and go from here - Thanatar, you're indeed Santa Clause in the making! Thank You Sir!
  8. I will review what KevinNH has offered up above in a few minutes. But I have to crawl before I can walk then haul aszz using KevinNH's method later. Ha . . .
  9. I agree just a cursory review of what you outlined here indeed offers much more than what Alexa can at the moment. Have you been able to link a state variable to a voice command? In the interim I would have to accept a defined value would have to be met and the very same speech phrase would than be triggered.
  10. Ha - That is so awesome to hear and know! The Alpha / Beta team has been working hard to offer the masses the very best user experience from the DB / GEM package. There are many more features yet to come so keep your eyes open in my install thread and in the general announcements at the Brultech site. I don't believe it was a very hard sell to make me consider that HiFi Berry Amp - LOL, SOLD! Too funny that was one of the hits I saw before I posted my ask to you on Google! To offer you some insight the over all goal is to create a proof of concept which I hope can be shared to the DB / GEM forum members in hopes of offering proactive / reactive voice announced power level, energy level, temp level, pulse level conditions and values. This is my round about way to get it going before Amazon offers two way feedback from Echo, Dot, Tap.
  11. Thanatar, Do you have a recommendation for a MP3 sound capture suite to use? I thought there would be some kind of option on that site to define the test to speech and than down load the text string.
  12. You Sir, must really work for Santa Clause because this has been a fantastic gift for this X-MAS! Thank you so much for sharing because this new solution will round out my existing HA for two other ongoing projects that can use such a feature. Merry Christmas and the very best to you and yours in 2017!
  13. Simply fantastic can you offer the link to the TTS? I wanted to use a voice which was as natural as possible which isn't anyone in my home. I think hearing someone in the family speaking over a PA / speaker would be crazy weird! 14. A few forum members besides the Admins already have write access to the WiKi to make edits and additions. ========================= The highest calling in life is to serve ones country faithfully - Teach others what can be. Do what is right and not what is popular.
  15. Would you be able to offer a step by step guide how this was accomplished with screen shots of the network resources to do so? [emoji848] I have two RPi's sitting idle that already have openelec preloaded. [emoji5] Any guidance in this area would be greatly appreciated! [emoji4][emoji106]
  16. Because you had it configured to 6 button mode before? So is it working fine now?
  17. I believe v9E is the current shipping firmware in both the hardware revision 2.1 / 2.2 for a while. What is the hardware revision and production date for the KPL? Older KPL's don't have a *Option* tab in the ISY Series Controller so you will need to turn off the beeper manually as listed in the full users manual. What do you mean the *OFF* button doesn't work? Are you sure the device isn't defaulted to send ON only? As the device can be set to send ON only, OFF only, and toggle. Toggle is the default behavior assuming you didn't change it. If the device isn't hard resetting you need to ensure you pull the clear set button out for at least 10 seconds. Once that time elapses you need to push it in all the way and hold it in. Just hold it and you will either see or hear the load flash and beep. Regardless of the beep just hold it in until you see something happen to the attached load and normally it flashes once. Let us know how that goes and we can move forward with anything else.
  18. Yes, unfortunately those are the steps required and you may also have to do a restore device afterwards for each battery operated hardware. Just get a nice cold beer and get comfortable and just keep clicking away until its done. Once that task is complete ensure you make another back up of the system so a snap shot of the new 2413S PLM is present for the next *Renewal* period. Let us know how it goes and please also report back the firmware under the help tab for the PLM.
  19. I would dare say for historic recall the following Insteon devices showed very similar failures at or slightly past the two year mark: 2412N SmartLinc, N.O. Load Controller.
  20. Subscription . . . [emoji23][emoji12][emoji38]☹️️
  21. Let it finish and report back what happens. Keep in mind if the PLM is failing the restore is just buying time. ========================= The highest calling in life is to serve ones country faithfully - Teach others what can be. Do what is right and not what is popular.
  22. All you need to do is select the log and save it to your computer.
  23. My reply was only trying to address the errant KPL device in hopes of solving that issue first. Since you note both devices are not related or linked to the KPL this could be related to the ALL ON issue some have experienced. The first thing I would do in no specific order of importance is do the following. 1. Determine how old your 2413S PLM is and if its approaching two years it may be failing. Select the HELP tab and see if it shows the PLM is connected and shows the revision number. If not you have an issue, if it does the next step is to run a PLM Link Compare at least 3-5 times with no one moving around or turning things on / off. If the PLM Linc Compare shows something crazy stupid like 5 links thats a sign the PLM is dying too. You can do a PLM Restore as a quick fix but that's a band aid to the bigger issue of a failing PLM. 2. I would go to the two devices you noted that turned on and select them. See if anything is incorrectly linked to them or verify if a program has been accidentally enabled / linked to them. 3. Hard reset both devices that turned on and also perform a restore device.
  24. If you air gapped the KPL and it still behaves oddly you can try hard resetting the device and then complete a *Restore Device*.
  25. Hello Adrian, More often than not a simple Insteon Filter Linc placed at the right spot will resolve most communications issue(s). I'm not too surprised to hear the dimmer is having issues with A/V gear. Almost all electronic devices present some kind of load on the power line whether it be noise makers / signal suckers. Consider placing a few of these on a power bar: http://www.smarthome.com/filterlinc-10-amp-plug-in-noise-filter.html Keeping in mind they only come in 5 / 10 amp ratings. If wiring isn't an issue you can install one of these huge devices which offer 20 amps of capacity: http://www.ebay.com/itm/X-10-PRO-XPF-20A-Wired-In-Noise-Filter-3-Wire-/122261204164?hash=item1c7755ecc4:g:4yEAAOSw5cNYSgGk
