Hello Rob, Can you offer a little more insight and confirm the above? Essentially what I understand from above is the ISY Series Controller was and has always been set to DHCP mode, correct? But some where down the road the reserved MAC address in the router say it was 100 changed to something like 101 in the ISY? Can you please confirm that when you viewed the settings in the controller the screen was indeed grayed out and the value was different than what was listed in the router? Normally the router issues a lease time from the DHCP pool say every five days. But since the IP address was reserved via MAC filtering this should not have happen. I would be curious to know what model and brand of router you have and if any firmware updates were done automatically or if one is pending for such an issue. If you changed the ISY Series Controller to a Static IP address this does offer some measure of predictability because you always know what the IP address is to the appliance. It does not however protect you against a IP conflict. This is why its best practice to assign a IP address outside of the DHCP pool.

No, all you need is a subscription to the ISY Portal. It should be noted that the network module is now included with the ISY Portal Service but does go away if you ever stop using it. My humble opinion is (IF) you don't have the network module now to purchase it. As this will allow you to connect to anything with out the portal should you ever have financial reasons to do so. Having said this the portal does offer great value and see even more in the long term.

Hello Rob, Could you offer what the anti-virus program you're using? Also, it would be rather strange the program would not have a section to place it in the approved / white list. Please go back and search anything that has to do with the ISY and add it in to the approved list. As a simple test disable the anti-virus and the firewall and see if you're able to gain WAN access. Just to stick to the basics when you get home please do a check for your public IP. Verify the port forwarding value is also the same also did you happen to install a certificate?

I gather you mean you reserved an IP address via MAC filtering. If this is the only appliance that is not reachable from outside of the WAN. I would check any firewall / anti-virus and white list the controller . . .

From personal experience it has always been best practice to hard reset all of the devices and enroll them via the ISY one at a time. Doing so will delete any half links and ghost programming and ensures the hardware is in a default OEM state. The small investment of time now will ensure a solid and reliable Insteon network.

That is really a question and personal choice you need to ask yourself. The reason *some* have used the HUB II is that it was first to support various 3rd party devices like the Amazon Echo, Harmony Remote, Sono's, etc. If you're capable and have time you can always follow the *Roll Your Own* approach. If your time and patience is less available than integrating the HUB II which already supports some of the above may be desirable.

It should be noted if someone is technically inclined they could subscribe to the developers group and gain access to the API. Smartlabs would send you the API key and from there the Dev would need to turn on/off the feature they require. Using the HUB II via the API Key is the formal supported method at this time. I am sure someone with a 2413S PLM and the same could accomplish the very same though. There are quite a few coders in this forum but no one to date has ever stepped up to the plate to offer their services. I gather if there are enough people asking UDI to update the drivers for the LED bulb it might happen. But if history is any indicator I wouldn't hold my breath. [emoji58] There are several Insteon devices which have features / options which UDI still does not support. I was asked to create a poll to see if the public wanted them and the end result was very positive. More than two years later none of these features / options have ever been incorporated into later firmware releases. ☹️ One can only hope but hope don't float! It's been quite awhile since I used HL2 but don't recall the option(s) to select last known state vs full on ever being available for any hardware device. I'll take a look but highly doubt it's there since HL2 was abandoned long ago. ☹️

I'm afraid you misunderstand what I offered here. The options I noted are only available via software but at this time it's not available because UDI has not incorporated these options. Hello Broyd, You may review the pages 30, 31 which indicates the bulb can be set to operate to always on vs last known state: http://cache.insteon.com/developer/2672-222dev-052014-en.pdf Of note the bulb also offers some limited diagnostics which for me I find interesting and useful. Which was the CRC Error Count. NOTE: These features are only available via software there is no manual method to force the bulb to go into the two modes. This is up to UDI to follow the API and enable these features so the end user can access them.

The API that governs the Insteon LED bulb indicates two different behaviors can be accessed. Unfortunately UDI has not programmed their firmware to allow user access to change how the LED bulb reacts. Perhaps you can send in a request asking if they will add these features in the next firmware release.

Unfortunately, First Alert has rebranded the One Link name to encompass all of their current wares.

You can always buy a extra controller but I would think your focus should be on the basics. What do you have in place now that protects your home, electrical, and electronics appliances? 1. Do you have a solid low resistance (< 50 ohm) ground from the meter entrance properly secured to Earth ground. 2. Do you have any Type 1, 2, 3 SPD's in place. 3. Do you have a properly sized UPS system in place. 4. Do you have a AVR in place to ensure the line voltage is a rock steady 120 VAC? 5. Do you have the proper home owner insurance that covers your entire home and its contents to the limits you need? 6. Do you perform a regular back up of your ISY on a regular basis and are they off site? Many of these elements are the most basics that should be in place to ensure your entire home is well protected. Regardless of all the high tech your home must be properly insured against loss. This is the only thing that will make you whole when a disaster happens . . .

Hello Mark, The Wiki entry doesn't have a huge amount of information about the ALL ON / ALL OFF situation. But does offer some insight to conditions that may contribute to the problem. If you are able to scratch off all of the listed *possible* issues from the WiKi. The next steps require more investment in time or finances. You will need to decide if your time is more valuable then the short term investment of money. Meaning some users have replaced the Insteon GDO kit with Z-Wave products. While some have gone through the entire programming logic and added wait times to any programs in hopes of eliminating said problem. When you find the two massive ALL ON / ALL OFF thread you will note my views on the issue at hand.

Yes, for a battery operated device you would need that hardware to change state. Now, since various battery operated devices have different options they could be used to update the status in a round about way. Keeping in mind some of them are obviously not very practical but do offer possible uses. 1. Low Battery: This wouldn't be used at all in this situation because it could take months for this node to ever appear. 2. Dusk / Dawn: This has a window of opportunity but it depends upon environmentals and installation position. 3. Heart Beat: This feature is only available on the Open-Close, Hidden Door, Leak Sensor and only happens every 24 hours. The Hidden Door Sensor can be adjusted to check in sooner along with voltage levels. 4. Status / Control: Of course this would require the device to be activated either open/closed, walking past the FOV of the MS, or a leak detection etc.

If this item is a hardwired device you could perform a query to obtain the current state.

In your initial reply you said you haven't used it in awhile? Does that mean this fan linc was in service in your home before and operated just fine upon removal? If so how long did it take before you noticed the problem you illustrated above?

I really think it comes down to trial and error at this point. The only Insteon product that formally supports LED lighting is the InLine Linc (ILL) dimmer. I've taken one apart and compared it to others such as the Lamp Linc, Switch Linc, KPL, and no obvious differences are present. I've been using various brands of LED bulbs with all of the above with great success and no issues thus far. At this point take one for the team . . .
