Hi stillen_i30; I have (through the help of a few members here) two programs that I run to sync the KPL button LED to the status of the light. First I have a scene that only has the KPL LED button in it as a responder. Then I have these two programs. If Status 'Hutch Lamplink' is Off Then Set Scene 'LED OFF Scenes / Hutch LED ON' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') If Status 'Hutch Lamplink' is not Off Then Set Scene 'LED OFF Scenes / Hutch LED ON' On Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') As an aside, if there's an easier way to do it I'm open to hear it. I hope this helps. Drew

I'm not sure if this helps but I have a hutch that used to have the type of control where you touch the designated hinge and the lighting inside would turn on 33%, next touch 66%, next touch 100%, next touch off. I opened the control box and hardwired it (solder, heated shrink wrap, etc…) and plugged it directly into a lamplinc. It's now controlled by a KPL button. (P.S. had an electrician friend eyeball my frankenstein job to make sure I didn't do anything wrong.)

oberkc, everything you suggested works. My problem was the PLM replacement. I'm finding out I have to restore my devices. Please forgive my ignorance on this. I've never replaced the PLM before and didnt know I would have to restore devices. I will back away from the forum slowly, ashamed, and try restoring before I bring an issue to the table. Drew

Hi oberkc; When I saw the failures in the tests I thought that too. I just got home from work so I'm futzing with it now. I just replaced the PLM a few weeks ago and had to 'restore' a SWL. I'm in the process of restoring the KPL now in hopes that thats the issue. I used to get awful comm errors constantly. I worked through all of them and nailed it down to a poor power supply in an old PC that's no longer in use. I havent had comm issues again until a month ago when the PLM failed. After I replaced it everything is rock solid again. I'll see if 'restoring' it works and if not I'll check out the questions in your posting. Drew

Hi oberkc; Thanks for getting back to me with this. Hopefully this summary points to where I'm going wrong. I only have the one KPL G button involved in this issue The basement off scene is a scene that shuts all the lights off, where as the basement LED off scene is the scene that only has the KPL G button as a responder. (this is the scene that is triggered by the programs mentioned in this post that I was hoping would set the status of the KPL LED, i.e. if any light is on the LED is on, if all lights are off, the LED is off) Yes, the controller is also a responder. I just have the one scene. I've tried switching a different LED on the KPL in question and it doesn't work. I've tried air gapping the KPL. I'm getting no comm errors from it) If I have to start from scratch I'm not opposed to that. Drew

Hi Oberkc; The KPL G is controller in the 'Basement Dim' scene Its a responder to the All Off scene (just a whole house off scene) and the Basement Dim scene And my Basement LED OFF scene (the LED scene I created to try to control the status of the LED itself) This scene has only the KPL G LED at 100%. It also triggers this program If Status 'Hallway KPL G Basement Dim' is Off Then Set Scene 'Basement Off' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') and of course the program in question. If Status 'Andrew's Office A' is not Off Or Status 'Basement Hall' is not Off Or Status 'Basement KPL A' is not Off Or Status 'Christmas Tree' is not Off Or Status 'Lamp Left' is not Off Or Status 'Lamp Right' is not Off Or Status 'Library' is not Off Or Status 'Theatre Room' is not Off Then Wait 1 second Set Scene 'LED OFF Scenes / BASEMENT LED OFF' On Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') If its a case where I have too much stuff on the one LED I can be good with that. I believe this works perfectly. If Status 'Barn Spots' is not Off Then Wait 3 minutes Set 'Barn Spots' Off Set Scene 'LED OFF Scenes / Spots off' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Its an entirely different KPL.

So, to recap. I have a KPL Button (G) that turns a basement scene on. (This works fine) When it is turned off, it triggers a program to shut off ALL lights in the basement, regardless if they are in the scene or not. (This works fine) Where it falls apart is this. IF there's any light on in the basement I want the KPL G Button to be lit. (This eludes me somehow) If Status 'Andrew's Office A' is not Off Or Status 'Basement Hall' is not Off Or Status 'Basement KPL A' is not Off Or Status 'Christmas Tree' is not Off Or Status 'Lamp Left' is not Off Or Status 'Lamp Right' is not Off Or Status 'Library' is not Off Or Status 'Theatre Room' is not Off Then Wait 1 second Set Scene 'LED OFF Scenes / BASEMENT LED OFF' On Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') I'm pretty sure at this point Insteon has recreated the Bugs Bunny "Boxing Glove On A Spring" with my name on it. I have been over the "Light the KPL LED Status thing with many KPLs and I can never get it to work 100% Sometimes it will seem to be correct but at one point I'll notice the LED is off when the light is on (or the other way around) Any help before I kick the chair out from under me would be greatly appreciated. (knowing my luck, the chair would trigger a scene and in my final breath I would notice the LED was incorrectly showing the status) Drew

Does it matter that the same KPL button triggers the basement scene on AND triggers a scene that shuts all basement lights off, regardless if they're in the basement scene or not? I'm hoping to just have the one KPL button be the basement button. Drew

Thank again. I've been trying this viewtopic.php?f=26&t=532 as well. The two are the same. My issue is I'll have an LED behave properly (or so I'll think) and then I'll notice the light on from some scene, etc… and the LED will not show the status properly. I'm ashamed to say I've been trying to figure this out (on and off) since I got into the ISY (back when the ISY-26 was around) Drew
-
I restored the device and it seems to work fine now. Thank you oberkc. I found that a few oddities (nothing major) were happening after the PLM switch. Things like kitchen lights turning on when a basement scene was triggered. And of course all the lights turning on at 5:30 AM (I have a nightscene that is shut off with a program that turns everything off at 5:30, the values on some lights were set to 100%) I don't have any lights set to 100% so I assume it defaulted on a few setting, etc… I'm still trying to figure out the LED status issue. viewtopic.php?f=27&t=12705 before I go bald (er) Drew

Hi Oberkc; The wait was me seeing if there was too much traffic. I should take it out. I tried to turn on the scene from the ISY and it didnt light up the LED. Have I done something wrong? I did notice it was in a mutually exclusive grouping and I've removed it. Drew
-
Hi Oberkc; Just did. The ISY says the SWL is at 50% (the setting it should be at) but the light is not. I just tried a scene where the SWL should be on and it is not, even though the ISY says it is. I've just replaced my PLM a week ago. Do you think it has something to do with that? Do you think it doesnt recognize it? I've had no problem with it until now. Drew

If Status 'Andrew's Office A' is not Off Or Status 'Basement Hall' is not Off Or Status 'Basement KPL A' is not Off Or Status 'Christmas Tree' is not Off Or Status 'Lamp Left' is not Off Or Status 'Lamp Right' is not Off Or Status 'Library' is not Off Or Status 'Theatre Room' is not Off Then Wait 3 seconds Set Scene 'LED OFF Scenes / BASEMENT LED OFF' On Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') I've tried this as well but it doesnt seem to work. I do have to admit I have a tough time trying to get the LEDs to properly display the status of a device For example, viewtopic.php?f=27&t=12705 viewtopic.php?f=26&t=532 Every once in a while I get the energy to try to get to the bottom of the LED status thing, after hours or days of running up and down a flight of stairs with a hopeful look on my face I eventually quit, cry in the front of the ISY GUI a little bit and then flog myself repeatedly for not getting the logic behind this. I don't want to post the same question over and over again and I don't want to burn out everyone's patience but I'd love to get my system working great. Drew

Hi Guys; I have a program that I've been working on. If Control 'A Remote 1 TV / Remotelink B Movies' is switched On And $Int_1 < 2 Then Set Scene 'Movies Brighter' Off Set Scene 'Movies' On $Int_1 = 2 Else Set Scene 'Movies' Off Set Scene 'Movies Brighter' On $Int_1 = 1 Seems to work fine but a SWL in one of the scenes doesnt turn on or off. (I've checked the scenes and the setting for the SWL are correct) When I press the remotelinc button the ISY GUI says the light is on at the proper level but in reality it is not on at all. Drew

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here. If Status 'Andrew's Office A' > Off Or Status 'Basement Hall' > Off Or Status 'Basement KPL A' > Off Or Status 'Christmas Tree' > Off Or Status 'Lamp Left' > Off Or Status 'Lamp Right' > Off Or Status 'Library' > Off Or Status 'Theatre Room' > Off Then Wait 1 second Set Scene 'BASEMENT LED OFF' On Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') It doesnt seem to turn the LED on. Is it because the KPL button that shuts the lights on and off is also the LED that I want to light up if there are lights still on? Drew

I think I've found the issue. When I swapped out my failing PLM I noticed a few odd things when I started up the new one. I found kitchen lights would trigger when I would turn on a basement scene and other things like that. This seemed to be the same. I run a night scene that has an off program at 5:30 AM Half or so of those lights were set to 0% and others were set to 100% I'm going through my ISY and tweaking programs and scenes anyway since the new PLM so I expect I'll find a few other anomalies Drew

Encouraging. Thank you. Although the LED issue has been driving my a little for a while. My main issue is time. (as is everyone else's) I don't have enough time to sit and ponder this stuff. I have bursts of time here and there but not enough to learn. I don't want to be the typical forum user that just stands on everyone's shoulders. I'd like to contribute as well. (and not in the 'don't do what Drew is doing' capacity) hahahaha Drew

Works like a charm. I'm trying to get the hang of programming my ISY stuff so I don't have to keep running to the forum. Thank you. Drew

If Status 'Barn Spots' is not Off Then Wait 10 seconds Set 'Barn Spots' Off Wait 3 seconds Set Scene 'KPL off' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') I tried this. It didnt work for some reason. I dod have a slow ramp rate. Should I delay the KPL LED scene off more? (just tried it, no go)

So if I make a scene with the KPL button (the C button in this instance) as a responder. and have the scene triggered to run when the light shuts off? That's seems easy but then I'd have to make a scene for everything KPL secondary button that I wanted to display the status of the light or lights linked. Is this the way to do it?
-
If Status 'Barn Spots' is not Off Then Wait 10 seconds Set 'Barn Spots' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') This worked. I'm still not sure why the other didnt. (I changed it to 10 seconds solely for testing purposes) But this raises an issue I can never figure out. The light shuts off because the program tells it to but the KPL LED that turns it on is still lit. I've tried to get my LEDS to properly display the status of the light or lights connected but I fail every time. (insert comic book argh here) If i could clear it up I would be ever so grateful. I've been told I need to put the LED button in question into the scene as a responder but I cant as it tells me it already in the scene (It is the controller) Drew

I just clicked the KPL button once. Switched On. Should I change it to If the Light is Not Off? Drew

Second night in a row all the lights are on in the middle of the night. Could it be the Query? (Its the only program that runs at night) I don't have ELK. I have the odd deer that walks through the yard but I don't think they are screwing with my Insteon stuff. (I'm truly sorry for that, I couldnt resist it) I have no Motion sensors either. Also, I notice many of the KPLs in the house have multiple LEDS lit up in the morning. Drew
-
If Control 'Barn Spots' is switched On Then Wait 5 minutes Set 'Barn Spots' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') I have a spotlight that I want to turn off as its left on sometimes. I thought it was straight forward. But the light remains on. Drew
-
Hi Michel; I think the problem is either bad programming on my part or my wife touching the things in the house that are clearly labelled "man stuff" I do not have ELK. Drew
