  1. Irecently went on vacation and thought I'd make a program that would make the house look lived in, and it didn't work. I had friends checking on the house and they saw no lights. I also had a notification to send to my cell and that didn't work either. But when I came home many LEDS on my KPLs were lit.(?) Something must have happened. If Status 'Deck KPL E' is On And Time is Sunset + 45 minutes Then Set Scene 'Cooking' On Wait 30 minutes Set Scene 'Cooking' Off Set Scene 'Entertaining' On Wait 15 minutes Set Scene 'Entertaining' Off Set Scene 'All Dim' On Set 'Deck KPL A Decklight' 50% Set Scene 'All Off' On Send Notification to All Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') As you can tell I want to just push a button when I leave and have the program run. Any ideas? Drew
  2. I'll replace the bulbs with 100W ones and see if that's the solution. Drew
  3. Hi Guys; I have two electrical services on my property. The house is one and the outbuildings are the other. A can control insteon stuff in the outbuildings from the house (which is great) but I noticed that the SWL was really hot after it was on for a while. There are 3 big old clear bulbs that are on the SWL and I can't see the wattage of them as it's worn off. I assume they are 100 watts each. (has anyone ever heard of 150 W or 200W bulbs?) Being that, the SWL is rated for 600W. I haven't had time to troubleshoot by putting new bulbs in the sockets and seeing if that solves the issue. I'll try that tomorrow. Has anyone ever had SWL heat up and if so, why? Drew

    Odd behaviour

I only have the one controller to the scene and the levels are correct. Sometimes I try to log into the ISY and it says I'm logged in but I can't see the network. Other times I try to adjust a level and the percentage box doesn't appear (not when I'm sliding it or when it's the system busy box). But I can move the fader around. I'm noticing my ISY MEM and ERROR red lights are blinking on and off very slowly (about three seconds on, three second off). I had to reset the PLM and ISY by unplugging them a while ago because I had to GUI control and the programs wouldn't work. The Programs work but the GUI is on again off again. Michel hinted that I may have a crashing PLM. Where can I go from here? Drew

    Odd behaviour

I have a night scene where everything shuts off except two lights at 20% Everything else is at zero. If the wall sconces (which should be at zero when the scene is pushed) are on before I push the scene KPL, they fade to a % (they should be at 0) If they are off before I trigger the scene, they stay off. They used to work properly in the scene. The wall sconces are on the load of a different KPL then the one that has the button for this particular scene. Any ideas why this happens, and maybe a fix? Drew
  6. Thank you IndyMike I've never had a PLM lock up. What makes it do that? Surge? Is there any way I can get it to not do it in the future? No big worry as it seems like a simple fix to power down. Thanks again. Drew
  7. Obviously there's something in my system or house that doesn't want me to have the ISY run smooth. I log in today and all my devices are set at a ramp of 9 min and a local load of 0. So.. how do i reboot the ISY and start discovering devices so i can start again. The GUI won't open my backups for my programs or timers or my backup. Still not losing patience (maybe my mind, though) Drew
  8. Hi Vortec4800 I believe to link the SWL you click the start linking inthe drop down menu on the ISY GUI then press the SET button on the bottom of the SWL (a little tab under the rocker portion of the switch. Brobin and BrianH are also correct that punching in the 6 digit code is good as well (make sure you write them all down first beofre putting the switch covers back on) Another way to keep a list of all your 6 digit codes is to generate a topography from the ISY GUI when you have all your switches up and running. Drew
  9. When you say this do you mean you are linking to the ISY by Clicking "START LINKING" on the ISY GUI and then pressing the SET button below the rocker switch, or are you holding the rocker switch of a SWL? Drew
  10. Anybody know what this is for and how to use it? I've noticed that none of the programs that people post here use this section of the If THEN ELSE program. Maybe it's something I should stay away from until i know better. Drew
  11. I know this is an old thread but I've just gotten around to this idea again. What I want is this. If we're not home then this program will run. I'm assuming that if the Big Room, or the Hall, or the Kitchen is off then we're not home as these lights are in all scenes. Here's my program If Time is Sunset + 30 minutes And Status 'Hall KPL A Hall Light' is Off And Status 'Big Room' is Off And Status 'Kitchen' is Off Then Set Scene 'All Dim' On Set 'Deck KPL A Decklight' 65% Send Notification to All Set 'Barn' 70% Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Does anyone see a problem here? Is there an easier way to do this? And what is the ELSE section for? Now that the forum has been reorganized, I can't follow those links found above anymore. Drew
  12. I don't think I was clear on this topic. My fault entirely. Let's say I have four lights in a room and they're on wherever they are as far as % of light (not necessarily the local level) I have a scene that's triggered when I double tap a SWL and it turns the lights to a different scene. What I would like to know is this. Is there a way to get back to the lighting that was existing previously? No matter what the what the lights were set to? Drew

    Night Scene

Like A Charm!!! (of course the first night it didn't work because I programmed it to shut off the wrong scene, nice, I smetimes wonder how i remember to breathe) Thanks, guys. On to more programming (and inevitably more questions) Drew

    Night Scene

Hi Mike; The KPL H button is set for non toggle off ( I believe that means that when I press it it always sends an off signal, please correct me if I'm wrong) I press it when we're going to bed and it shuts off all the lights but runs a scene with two lights on for night lights. At sunrise I'd like the lights to automatically shut off. I think the tip you've given me is the answer. I'll try it tonight and see. Do you know of a glossary to check this stuff out (non toggle on VS non toggle off, etc...) so I can understand a bit more of what I'm doing or understand fully what the ISY can do? Drew

    Night Scene

Hi Darrell I've tried this and a few other things to work but again I'm not getting the desired effect. If Control 'Deck KPL H Nighttime' is switched Off Then Set Scene 'Nightime two' On Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') That works great but then at sunrise I want a program or timer to shut it off. If Time is Sunrise And Control 'Deck KPL H Nighttime' is switched Off Then Set Scene 'Nighttime' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') What is wrong here? When I wake up the lights are still on. Also, I've searched around on the Wiki site but couldn't find a glossary for all the UDI terms (toggle, non-toggle) Is there one? Maybe understanding some of the terms would help me (and I assume others) to program more succesfully the first time. And (sorry for all the questions) when would I use the "Else" section of the programs? Drew

    Night Scene

If I understand you right, I have two scenes. One (nighttime) has all the lights that I want off, and this is triggered by the KPL H button (non-toggle mode) This works perfectly The other scene (nighttime two) has the two lights that I want on at 20% This is what I've programmed but it doesn't work right. If Control 'Deck KPL H Nighttime' is switched On Then Set Scene 'Nightime two' On Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') This doesn't seem to activate the nigttime two scene. Do I have the wording wrong somehow? Drew

    Night Scene

This is great!!! It's exactly what I want. I don't even have the KPL LED on that triggers the scene. Perfect. I've not gotten to the part of making the scene and triggering it with the KPL button but I'll get to that hopefully by this weekend. I'll let you know how it goes and if I have any other questions. Thanks again, Drew

    Night Scene

Hi Darrell That's basically what I was thinking and it works great, thanks. Is there any way to make all the LEDS go off as well? I have three KPLs right now and when I push the NIGHT scene KPL button, the load on the same KPL lights up and the LEDS of lights that were on in other KPLs stay on (even though the new night scene makes the actual lights go off) I know I use the MutEx buttons on one KPL for this issue but I don't think I can do that across different KPLs. Am I stuck with the LEDs on or is there a way around this? Drew

    Night Scene

I'm trying to get a night scene programmed and I'm a little confused on what the best way to do it is. Here's what i want to do. By pressing a KPL G button, I want all the lights to go off (I've checked many of the All On All Off posts) except for two lights that will be on at 18% or so. Then at sunrise, shut off the two lights. My problem is this. Every time I program it leds turn on on my kpls. I'm hoping to kill all the lights and the LEDS for the KPLs as well (except for the KPL G button of course) Is there a way to do this with one button push, or do I need to take other things into consideration? I know Darrell's post is the answer somehow but I'm not savvy enough with the ISY programming to understand it. http://forum.universal-devices.com/viewtopic.php?t=902 Drew
  20. Would i do this by saying if kitchen scene is true and control kitchen is pressed on, then go to 80% (or whatever the usual single tap setting is?) Drew
  21. Hi Guys; As usual, I think I found this topic somewhere but I can't find it again. Is there a way to do this: I have a kitchen light on a SWL and if i press it on just the light comes on. When I double click it, a scene is triggered. Is there a way to resume the lighting that I had? In other words, go back to the lighting that I had before I triggered the scene? Drew
  22. Sweet. I think I'm actually getting it. drew
  23. I apologize if this post becomes lengthy. I s this the best way to achieve this? I've put KPL buttons b c and e in a mutex group buttons b setting are bathroom 30% Big room 30% Big Room Kpl off Dining Room 30% Hall KPL 30% Kitchen 30% ButtonC is Bath off Big Room 45 Big Room KPL off Dining 30 Hall off Kitchen 30 and Button E is Bath 30 Big Room 60 Big Room KPL 30 Dining 30 Hall 30 Kitchen 30 I've done this so that when I press any KPL button (b c or e) lights that I don't want on shut off automatically. and others chage to their different percentage. Again, my question is if there's a shorter or more streamlined way of getting the same effect. Drew
  24. Would I make the scene on button C have lights 1 2 3 on their new setting and lights 4 and 5 off (or at 0%) Drew As an aside how do I "quote" on this forum? Drew
  25. I'm confused a bit by what the mutually exclusive buttons can do The LEDS turn off when I push other buttons, yes, but For example, When I push the B KPL it turns on lights 1 2 3 4 5 When I push the C KPL it changes lights 1 2 3 (common to both scenes) but lights 4 and 5 are still on. Even though I'm triggering the scenes with the KPL and not the RL, does the fact that having the RL in the scene mess up the way the Mutex buttons work? Or did you mean if I trigger the scene with the RL it won't let the LEDs shut off because the RL can't be Mutex? Drew
