  1. K3RMB I have my ISY sitting within 10 inches from a 2 meter radio. I don't hear any signal in the 146 Mhz range coming from the ISY. You may have either a bad piece of coax, or a bad Ethernet cable connected to the ISY.
  2. CFL bulbs can be problematic. They have a built-in ballast which can sometimes create noise on the powerline which interferes with the Insteon signal.
  3. What type of bulbs are you using in the exterior fixtures? What type of switches are you using for the exterior lights, dual band or single band? Here's some troubleshooting steps that may help http://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=INSTEON:_Troubleshooting_Communications_Errors
  4. Control will trigger the program if the door is OPENED at 10:30 or 11:00 Status will trigger the program if the door is OPEN at 10:30 or 11:00
  5. Here's the program you need. If Time is 10:30:00 PM or Time is 11:00 PM And Status 'Outdoor Garage Door-Closed' is On Then Send DoorOpenNotification to 'Dad' Else (leave blank)
  6. Take a look at this help file http://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY_Portal_Amazon_Echo_Integration
  7. All battery operated devices go into sleep mode when not activated to preserve battery life. The open/close sensor sends out a hearbeat signal which could be used to verify communication between the device and the ISY To test the smoke bridge press the TEST button on the smoke alarm, which they reco0mmend you do on a regular basis.
  8. If all the lights you want to turn off are included in a scene then the only line you need in the THEN statement would be "set Scene Sunset lights off" Delete the first 4 lines in your THEN statement.

    Many thanks.

I just did a Zwave backup. I wasn't given an option on where to save the file to and I've been unable to find it. Anyone know what the default backup file name and location is?

Also, if you have any battery operated devices, then after your PLM restore you'll have to restore each one, one device in linking mode at a time.
  12. Techman replied to jpkbalboa's topic in ISY994
The light on the PLM should always be on. If it's off then either there's no power to the PLM or the PLM internal power supply failed. All scenes reside in the PLM, not the ISY. It appears that your restore wasn't complete. Do a PLM link count. If the count is low then the restore most likely failed.
  13. Almost all dimmable LED bulbs contain a driver circuit. The LED bulb manufacturers are constantly changing their circuit designs so a bulb that is compatible with Insteon devices today may not be compatible tomorrow. The major differences you might notice is that when a bulb is dimmed it may flicker or buzz during the dimming process. Some bulbs will dim to a lower level than others. The bottom line is that it's a trial and error process. It's best to buy your bulbs from a source that will accept returns in the event the bulbs on't give you the results you're looking for. Even though the Insteon devices don't mention LED bulbs as being compatible most LEDs will work.
  14. In addition to Stuviews's reply, if you have any devices that are installed in the ISY then deleted, and that were related to an ISY program or scene, then the scene and/or program will show a null for that device. You'll need to add the device back to the program/scene.
  15. Primarily you don't want to have a module or device installed in both the hub and the ISY at the same time. If you're not planning on using the HUB then you should remove any devices from the HUB that you'll be using in the ISY as a device can only be linked to one controller at a time. It's best to do a factory reset on any device before you add it to the ISY. That way you're sure to get a clean install.
  16. I have 9 IOLincs in my system and have never had a problem with them. Being that they're powerline only devices it's best to have a dual band device in close proximity to them.
  17. Techman replied to slpelts's topic in ISY994
In addition to what Brian H suggested you could try doing a factory reset on the device before trying to add it again. Are you getting any ISY error messages when you try to add the device?
  18. Techman replied to slpelts's topic in ISY994
What ISY firmware and UI are you running. Look in Help | About The device is fully supported in the current ISY firmware release.
  19. My error, it does require an external supply. The southern California heat wave caught up with my brain.
  20. One of my ISY's is a 994i ZW. I removed the Zwave dongle to install it in another 994i. When connected to a PLM the ISY ZW won't power up without a separate power supply. How do I make the PLM the primary power supply for the ISY ZW with the dongle removed?
  21. and be sure to put the KPL button into the scene as a Controller.
  22. Happy, Copy and paste the programs you're using into a post for your lights and motion sensor.
  23. I'm a windows and Android person and not up to speed on IOS. There are others on the forum that can hopefully offer suggestions. Take a look at Mobilinc, a lot of forum users seem to be happy with it. It should be on the Apple store.
  24. Did you want to use it only on a LAN or access the ISY from outside your LAN? What operating system would you be using on your touch screen?
  25. Here's a link to setting up Google Home. You first need to subscribe to the Portal service http://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY_Portal_Google_Home_Integration
