Doesn't matter the distance. All it needs is internet access. I have a client in the middle of BFE VA. that still has access. In the end as long as you can find a solution that's what matters

I've installed at least 3 dozen ecobees (probably more) without these type of issues. Not saying they can't have problems but if they are having issues like you say, most likely there is something with the setup itself and not the unit itself

Rather than run 2 isy setups, I would use a well established thermostat separately from the isy such as the Ecobee 3. This would give you peace of mind that your system is in good hands with something you don't have to be worried about failing. You would have remote control over it and could still add it to your Isy via Polyglot for additional capabilities.

For wireless remotes, I use programs so that I don't have to put the remote in linking mode whenever I make a change. I simply create a scene, add the devices I want to control as responders and set the level that I want. Once that is done, I simply write the corresponding programs that turn on/off

Both switches need to be insteon. Doesn't matter what type. It just needs to be insteon

What was your step by step process

Personally, I would rather use hue or lifx. Much easier to set up and configure as well as being more capable.

Try factory resetting the plm and plugging it into a different outlet. If that doesn't work then it's bad.

Did you plug the plm into port A and power it up prior to powering up the ISY?

I'm with MWester and Paulbates in regards to keeping my HVAC separate fromy isy. I have the Ecobee3's and allow them to run themselves with minimum input from me. I have recently added mine to the isy via nodeservers for additional capabilities but not to actually control anything. For example, if a door or window is open too long, the AC will turn off. If a particular room gets warm (but not enough to turn down the AC then the fan will automatically turn on if its occupied. The Ecobee does a great job on its own but the ISY give me additional things I would not have otherwise

Since you have a backup, is factory reset the isy and restore your system

I do not believe any of the ring doorbells can integrate wit a DVR as ring uses its own cloud services. I use door bird (more expensive) but can be integrated with your own equipment

The ISY doesn't lock the remotes. The manual for the remote does recommend unlinking prior to a factory reset as responders could still respond to the remote. When you attempted the factory reset, did you continue to hold the set button until the buzzing stopped?

Yes you will as that's the only way for insteon to work

I would check your repeaters to make sure they are working and do a heal. The problem with having the bare minimum when it comes to repeaters is when something goes wrong. The self healing properties of zwave can't bail you out since there are no alternatives

I agree with that assessment. I use both Both have their pros and cons. I'm not a fan of how google automatically groups lights in the same room together but I like their routines much better than Amazons. I'm actually in the process of swapping my google homes and echos with Sonos one's since they allow a user to use either one. Their google implementation is still new so its very limited but long term I like that I can have a single system for uniformity. The fact that they integrate together is even better since I use Sonos as part of my whole house audio system

I gave you the best answer anyone can give you. It could be a second or less. It could be 2-3 seconds. Sometimes it may be more. The best thing to do is buy one or 2, set them up, and see how it responds.

It can be. However no one can say how things will be in your home. We don't live there to see how your network is used, bandwidth at any given moment, construction material, program setup, lifestyle, etc. You just have to try and see.

It makes sense but in the end it doesn't matter to me. I'm actually waiting for mine to die so I can justify getting the new version. My first generation has been outside for years now hanging upside down (and thats with southern humidity). There's many people online with the same experiences. No one can answer that definitively. It depends on a variety of factors at any given time. The delay for my lamps with hue bulbs is generally no more than a second. Depending on your network, interference, other programs running it could be anywhere from a second to a few seconds. Your #5 scenario will probably take longest since the request has to go out to Google servers and back to your house. Shouldn't be longer than anything else you currently voice control.

Only 1 person said they can't be hung upside down. I'm assuming he's talking about regular bulbs. However I've never seen or heard it to be an issue
