  1. Good question. The way the did things though, they just trashed that name as well
  2. That's just doublespeak. They're saying the devices work locally without the hub just like standard INSTEON. It goes through their servers like the regular hub. Since the hub servers are down, I would've assumed the Nokia hub servers would be shut down as well.
  3. I don't know. I assumed so. However, I just tested my Nokia hub and it still worked to turn on/off my lights. I turned my wifi off to ensure I was going through their servers and it works still
  4. He answered that before and seemed pretty adamant that they wouldn't be adding support for it. Maybe with them during down that may change. Would be nice
  5. I didn't like my experience with it. However, it's better than nothing. I'd get one to be safe while they're available and still cheap
  6. I doubt it since it's a controller itself. Has houselinc built in. Doesn't hurt to try to see if polisy recognizes it though
  7. A zwave dongle must be purchased in order to use zwave with polisy. It does not have a zwave radio built in at all.
  8. Speed control would defeat the purpose of vent fans. They're there to exchange a certain amount of volume of air efficiently. Slowing that down defeats that purpose. Ceiling fans allows for speed control because they're designed to make a person feel cooler which allows for adjustment to achieve the desired results
  9. Unfortunately, for all who use insteon, they have shut down their doors. This is especially hard for hub users as they did not keep their servers running. A member here is looking into reports that the hub can be used with Home Assistant. If so, do not reset your hub. Home-Assistant forums is where you will want to go. For all others, you can use UDI's Polisy with the 2413s, 2413u, and 2448a7, while available to control your INSTEON devices. Finally, you could also switch to zwave or other technologies for your home should you choose. Zwave works with polisy as well and does not require any type of INSTEON PLM. Outside of this information, we cannot provide much help to you with your system or troubleshooting. Good luck. @GeddyCan you sticky this and @MrBill post. In addition, is it possible to create a banner on the main page for INSTEON hub users pointing to this post so they aren't paying the same stuff all over the forums
  10. Yes it's possible. Add switches and program. No different than with lights. Vent fans are generally on/off so no speed control. The models that allow for different speeds generally have a switch built in to change the CFM. You wouldn't be able to control that
  11. That would be good if they can. He could add that info as well. The Smarthome section would work but i figured a banner would stand out more and get their attention
  12. 2413s, 2413u, 2448a7 works with Polisy to control insteon devices
  13. I think @Geddyshould put the banner up letting hub users know insteon has shut down and we are unable to provide support for them. I've seen a couple of posts from hub users already. would be nice to add a note with the plms that work with Polisy and link to buy polisy
  14. They've shut down. No longer exist. Nothing we can do here for hub users. Your only recourse would be to purchase a polisy and the insteon USB stick 2448a7 (easily found on Amazon/eBay). If you happen to have an instructor 2413s or 2413u you can use that with polisy as well.
  15. Provide details. Firmware and UI. How do you have things set up. What process did you use. Saying it doesn't work doesn't provide any information for us to use to help you
  16. You're out of luck. You'd need to dump the system or swap to something that supports insteon like polisy with an Insteon USB stick (unless you have a PLM).
  17. Did you factory reset the individual devices
  18. Guess some people can't read since the answer was already given
  19. This isn't the forum for that. Unfortunately you're own your own since Insteons forum are down
  20. You would probably need to email them direct. We wouldn't have that information. The controller is an accounting firm called Aramino. Maybe try reaching out to them or your CC company
  21. Yes. Its a night and day difference between the 2. The USB stick was noticeably slower than the PLM and would miss button presses etc. I havent tried the USB stick with the latest firmware yet With the 2413s PLM, 90-95% of the time everything runs perfect. Then out the blue I'll get slowdowns. The isy is receiving the commands. Just execution becomes slow
  22. I'm using 2413s. The USB stick had too many issues for me
  23. Here we go again with the shots. If you took time to actually read for comprehension you'd see no one was bashing anything. Sharing concerns about how a product works isn't bashing. Its through debate that we innovate and improve. If no one questions anything then nothing improves and grows. So what that youve upgraded your tvs a few times! How does that compare to upgrading a multitude of devices on a regular basis? If their firmware upgrades are done in the background and automatically, I think it would be great as going around to manually push updates to each device can be time consuming to the point where people probably won't do it. Thats a concern as we all know how people are. Even windows do it automatically because people won't update manually on their own. Me expressing that isn't bashing.. I talk to multiple people each day about home automation and what they're looking to get out of it in their homes. I keep up with the trends to stay ahead of things as I do look to expand my offerings to my clientele to a certain degree. Those conversations are what i base alot of my opinions on vs a bubble which is solely my home or a family member's home. I simply said I'm hard pressed to see people on a large scale wanting to do certain things. Bashing it would've been me saying how bad, terrible, and worthless the devices were. Or how crazy they are for making it, don't know what they're doing, etc.....sorta like you do with hue, insteon, and other stuff. None of which i did. The product is probably good/great for certain people and I hope it succeeds as the more options out there means the more options people have.
  24. You are absolutely correct about that. I always question people who rip out devices to go with something different due to the issues they were having. I say that because all of them have their strengths and weaknesses. The key is to maximize their strength while minimizing your exposure to their weaknesses. I've gone in people houses to fix systems and have found insufficient network build outs, poor environments for device type chosen, and simply substandard design. Those same people trashed the product themselves vs their handy work.
  25. I was thinking about sonoff devices that needed tasmoto. Thanks for the correction and clarity. While I still wouldn't use it with my company, I'm still curious to see standard consumer/cable routers handle a large installation of them.
