  1. See previous post in same question https://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/31292-insteon-being-discontinued/
  2. From my experience, the isy will process insteon first then zwave one at a time. I've never paid attention to the order I added my devices to see if that mattered in regards to the order zwave gets triggered. Thats a good observation which could potentially help give the illusion of a faster system by triggering the most important devices first
  3. Zwave doesn't come close to insteon as far as usability goes which is why I could never use it for lighting outside of specific single use cases such as occupancy for a bathroom (i use outlets for repeating). If his devices have instant status and can be used with control, it should speed up his system as the Isy only needs to process based on individual button presses vs. checking the status of multiple devices which would take longer
  4. Make sure your firmware and UI match. Factory reset the remote and try and again
  5. was it in linking mode when trying to add
  6. How long does it take for your devices to update in the isy? Are they newer devices with support for instant status? One thing you can do is use control instead of status since you want the fan to come on with any switch. To turn off you would want to use the status of all being off to turn off the bathroom light. While there will be a delay with the fan turning off, its not as big of a deal since you'd be leaving the room anyway
  7. To upgrade past 5.16, you'll need the new board. It doesn't work with the old board. Unless all devices are zwave plus, you really don't get any advantage with the newer features unless there's a specific feature in the upgrade that you're looking for.
  8. Not unless you write a program for it
  9. Ive always left my stuff in place. I build my system from the ground up to be used without a controller first and foremost. That way should my system go down it'll still run. I'd lose the automations but those are for convenience anyway. Buttons are clearly labeled and voice control is limited to basic turn on and turn off commands. I can easily delete my personal programs and leave the basic programs in place such as those for outdoor lighting control or door lock alerts without major impact to someone new. Many people are interested in HA but most do not want to pay for it. While it may not increase home value, it could motivate someone interested in HA even more to buy it. It's just important for things to not be so reliant on the controller to make it easier to live in
  10. Is the new a 2456 as well or 2635-222. Just checking as the 2456 has been discontinued for years. Have you tried rebooting the isy? Was the remote in linking mode when you did the swap? Does your firmware and UI match
  11. It's documented all over the forums on how to add zwave devices. Bring devices close to the isy, remove device, add device. That's the quick rundown. Michel's advice is the same steps and that applies whether it's an existing install or brand new. Personally (as do many others), I use a pigtail to add my devices prior to installing in their final location (This goes for all protocols not just zwave). With zwave now, I'd run an update neighbors after each device as it's easier to do as you're adding than all at one time. Don't believe everything you read on the internet. Waiting 4 hours between adding devices is not a requirement. No one would use zwave if that was the case since it would take days or weeks for a simple installation. Insteon, zigbee, and zwave requires a strong mesh network in order to work properly. Insteon is more forgiving than zwave but depending on set-up, you could potentially run into the same issues with that as well if you don't build it out enough.

Even if that was the timeline, I highly doubt UDI would say so nor would I trust it if they did. That's not to say they can't be trusted. Just in the world of coding and programming, I've found delays to be expected regardless of best intentions. I would find a cheap laptop from bestbuy returns (they often have them for 300-400 bucks)
  13. We all say that. ???
  14. I was responding from my phone. His signature doesn't show up on the mobile site unless I use desktop mode which I just switched too. You're right, it is long. Got tired of reading through it. ?
  15. Since you've provided zero information about your setup, what you're using and trying to accomplish it's hard to say. My first guess is that you haven't set up ir properly in regards to your programs.
  16. You can rename your devices by right clicking on the device and renaming. Zwave automatically numbers devices as they are added in numerical order. This cannot be changed.
  17. An act of God does not mean any and everytime something happens in nature, a terrible result will occur. It's implying an uncontrollable natural event which has the potential for destruction despite everything done. You do realize when you back up your Isy to the computer, you're backing up the isy sd card?
  18. That's a ridiculous statement. So you believe because your system did not fail, it can never fail? Our condo in California survived a 6.4 earthquake a few years ago (and many others before it), does that mean no earthquake will bring it down? How many neighborhoods have you seen leveled by tornadoes yet some of the houses survive intact? Yes you can build things to with stand a great deal but don't fool yourself into thinking something cannot happen. As it stands you have billion dollar companies spending tens of millions designing systems to never fail yet they do. Once again all this is moot since Michel said it's not happening
  19. Anything you restore after days of no power would be completely wrong anyway so what would be the point? After no power or water for days, I would think the last thing a person would be worried about is their Isy and the last count of some equipment. An act of God will always throw anything for a loop. No amount of planning and programming will overcome that. It's the daily happenings that cause the most problems which an automatic backup would probably hurt more than it helps. All of this is moot since Michel has stated it's not going to happen
  20. Why would your Isy need to be rebooted? Outside of firmware updates, your Isy should always stay running. If you're constantly rebooting it then you need to solve the underlying issues. The key to ensuring what you are trying to do is to have a strong and stable system. As long as communication is good and the Isy is running, it'll keep track of everything properly.
  21. Where did you purchase your product from? It should not have been sold if you're here in the US. If you're in the US, any zwave product sold on Amazon would work. Just search for the products you're looking for
  22. In addition to what Larryllix said, all you need to do is make a single backup once you make changes. Doing so every day is pointless unless you're making changes daily.
  23. Are you using the launcher
