  1. Did you update the scene when you made it or just the controllers in the scene? My suspicion is that the scene itself hasn't been updated
  2. The ISY pretty much works with anything now.... Much more than Smartthings. The only products with potential issues are devices that do not follow the protocol
  3. That is true. However if you notice, Smartthings out the box actually only lists specific devices as being supported and you are limited in your configuration options. Unlisted "generic" devices can be added but all (including supported devices) have limited configurable options without slot of work on the back end. The Isy is a controller that shows everything to give full control over your system while Smartthings is basically an app that purposely limits you for the sake of simplicity. There are trade offs to both approaches
  4. Whenever, you update, you should read the directions to avoid potential headaches. One thing that stands out is your Java cache needs to be cleared and you should be using the launcher on the update page
  5. Details about your system such as firmware and UI. Did you recently update your isy
  6. I get what your saying and it would be nice. However, they have no control over zwave at the protocol level. It would take OEMs either supporting what the device class is capable of or removing the unnecessary code. It may potentially be possible if they only supported a few devices. Then they could program around the code limitations however, that would leave users with minimal choices in devices they wish to use.
  7. That's because all of that information is in the zwave device at the firmware level. The mfg of the device just codes not to add support for it
  8. What do you mean look more like insteon does?
  9. Yes. Zwave is a different protocol and has its own board.
  10. That's part of why mine are under the cabinets in the kitchen. Too high up for the dogs to set off by walking around. One of them would figured out how to get the closet light to turn on so I programmed it to stop after bedtime. Now she doesn't bother going in there. Lol. The bathroom light comes on so low, it wouldn't wake any one up anyway. Thank God for the warm glows. ?
  11. Depends on ones perspective. There are lots of companies still in business that UDI doesn't support. One could argue that by focusing on building their own brand outside of the Isy by focusing on new customers, they give themselves the best chance to grow. At one point, the Isy was dependant on insteon. By branching out and supporting zwave and other stuff, the isy has been able to grow and stand on its own. The new line allows insteon to do the same. Grow their own name without the Isy. That way, should UDI choose to not support them, they'll still be ok. They can always come back later. Let's be real for a minute. Half hates insteon and the other half are already entrenched in their systems. While some may try a few devices, you won't find many ripping out their whole system that's been working for them.
  12. Mine varies. In my kitchen, they're hidden underneath the cabinets. In the spare bedrooms, they're underneath the beds. In our master bedroom, our night stands are open in the center so I put them in the back of those. The bedroom sensors turn on the underbed lights when someone gets out of bed so they aren't needed for occupancy. In the closest and half baths, I have them on the ceiling in such a manner where they can be seen if one looks for them but aren't noticeable.
  13. I even cover up the blinking lights. I've turned off the LEDs on my motion sensors as well. ?
  14. I'll send you a picture this evening. I hate looking at stuff i don't physically have to use so the smaller it is, the easier to hide
  15. Though not as small as the new PLM would be, I'd rather the new hub be used over the hub. It's about half the size of it
  16. The new version will not be out for quite some time. The new line will be built out before that's released
  17. It wouldn't work with insteon but would for zwave if you got the zwave version
  18. The USB plm has always been around. It is not compatible with the Isy. Polisy is able to make use of the USB plm
  19. I haven't had any issues with my MSll's which are all beta units. Granted they were set up with the hub for time out etc. All work flawless for what I want. What issues people have with the isy, i can't speak on since I don't experience them myself. I do know there is capabilities built in that aren't supported which may play a part in things. With that said, insteon make their product to work with their product not any other system. While I'd love to see them develop stuff with the Isy in mind, their focus is on their stuff which it does as intended. I can't call their surge b.s it works as intended and they last much longer than previous generations. While it may not be up to your standards, it does work for the targeted customer in the price range that it's in. At this time, they do not want the new line with 3rd party systems. I've stated many many times already (as did Michel) that for now, they are moving in a different direction. Maybe in the future they may open things up but for now, their plan IS NOT your plan. They are under no obligation to allow support from anyone just like UDI is not obligated to support anything they don't want to support
  20. It is a rant....a rant on repeat. In regards to announcements, even if they did issue an announcement about changes, no one would read anyway. Look at how many redundant questions are on this forum about stuff that would've been avoided had a person decided to read for 2min. Besides that, the manual states what the behavior is, so the information is there readily available
  21. Looks like you're having issues communicating with that kpl. I'd troubleshoot first to ensure communication is good. Next, I'd add a few seconds delay between each line to give time for the commands to process
  22. Why do you keep talking about 120-277 when that's been supported by them for years including in their existing products line? You're ranting and raving about something that's already existing and exists currently in the new line. You're simply regurgitating everythings that's already been acknowledged. Might as well save time and simply copy and paste the same argument! What known bug are you talking about?
  23. They do. They don't really care what goes in. They just want it to work
  24. Overheating may cause devices to fail but would not cause any signal degradation. Especially since each module would still be repeating the signal. With X10 they would degrade since they do not repeat but the insteon signal itself gets repeated so any potential degradation would be a wash. In addition to that, he said plugged into the same outlet not necessarily stacked on top of each other. I used a plug in module stacked on top of an iolinc as an example of Insteon being in close proximity to one another not causing issues (in addition to switches in the same box). Insteons own test stations often have setups on their carts where modules were either stacked or combined in some way. While anything is possible, I highly doubt proximity would case an issue.
  25. It wouldn't . If that was the case, people would have issues when they put range extenders on top of iolincs or switches side by side in the box
