Duh! I don't know how I overlooked that. That is why I focused on the SynchroLinc. If ON send email. If OFF send email. Plus, I could access device at any time. Finally, the activity log would tell me when last on.

The Utilitech pumps from the well into a pressurized tank with bladder. The pressure is controlled by a mechanical pressure switch that is adjustable for low pressure (pump turns on) to high pressure (pump turns off). Flow is discharged from the tank by the pressure in the tank until the low pressure setting is reached. The pressure tank keeps the pump from short-cycling and diminishing its useful life. According to your prior post I could have the SynchroLinc send me an email when the pump turned off. Implicit in such an email is that the pump first turned on. Since the SynchroLinc is only a throughput device in terms of power supplied to the pump all should be well (no pun intended).

Thanks, Stu. If the SynchroLinc fails will it fail with the power off?

I have a shallow well at a vacation home 325 miles from my primary residence. The water is pumped by a Utilitech Shallow Well Jet Pump (#0052306; 110v). I have checked the plate on the pump, and it has no information on the amperage. A search online has failed to provide this information as well. The pump is located in a small cellar which, at times, has high humidity from “sweating” of the pump and bladder tank. During the times we are away I use a motion activated sprinkler as a deer deterrent for the garden. My concern with this system is that I may have a pipe break, break in the water hose to the motion activated sprinkler or failure of the sprinkler itself. This would lead to the well probably pumping dry and the pump burning up. I have an ISY99i at the location and would like to have a device send me an email message whenever the pump runs and cuts off. Just knowing when it runs does me no good because in the event of a break it would just keep running until failure. Could the SynchroLinc be used to meet my goal? My guess is the amperage is 15 or less since the breaker for this device is 15 amps. If the SynchroLinc itself fails I want it to fail with the power to the pump off. Ideas?

Update: My son-in-law rebooted the modem successfully but the ISY remained offline. I instructed him to remove the PLM, remove the power from the ISY and wait at least 30 seconds. He then repowered the ISY and when it was displaying the proper light he repowered the PLM. All is well! Thanks again. Teken, would the device you recommended have enabled me to do all this remotely?
-
Teken: I went to the site and reviewed the material. What the device does and the steps necessary to do them are definitely high-tech and causes me some consternation as to whether I would be able to set it up and use it. Although I dabbled with Basic programming many years ago, I have no desire to undertake that endeavor again. At this point, all I would want/need to be able to do is reboot my modem remotely.
-
Teken: That sounds really interesting. Would youy mind providing details. I am away from one or the other of two loactions all the time. Both have ISYs and both have features that I consider critical. During the winter we never visit one location and it would bve wonderful if I could address problems remotely.

I called my ISP and they pinged the modem. The "robot" said I had no internet and told me to unplug the modem and follow their further instructions. Since I was not there that was impossible. I have asked a family member to go there and follow Cox's instructions. All good advice above. Will update as things proceed. My profound thanks.

Thanks, Teken. I will contact someone and have them do what you suggest.

I am 325 miles away from an ISY that is not responding to either the Admin Console or MobiLinc. The area experienced power interruptions yesterday so that is the likely cause. What steps need to be taken to restore the ISY? I can ask someone to drop by and take such steps provided they are easy to follow. Second, will the PLM continue to execute existing programs until we return? My most serious problem is regaining the ability to turn the irrigation system on remotely using the ISY.

It sounds like geofencing has a way to go before it may have the utility I would find of interest.

The presence sensing application may have some use for me, but I still don't see much potential.
-
I take it that the silence to my question is in alignment with my heretofore complete lack of interest in the technology.

How about sharing some ISY related iBeacon applications that you either have in place or have envisioned for the future?

I just use a standard switch for bathroom lights. I have yet to find a reason to automate those lights. By the way, if you are building out an Insteon system, I would choose a dualband switch. That will strengthen the communications. When I started with Insteon I bought a bunch of ToggleLincs not being aware of the dualband distinction.
-
Why do you do this? I have always sent commands directly to devices w/o problem. Thanks.
-
I program my bathroom fans in just the manner you describe. When I toggle one on it runs for 15 minutes and turns off. I do the same with the lights in my garage. That has eliminated my forgetfulness in leaving them on.

Thanks. Once again I am educated by the experts. I didn't know that parenthses served that purpose.

I want the BuzzLinc to buzz 3 times when either of 3 hidden door sensors are open between sunset and sunrise the next day. The buzzer sounds whenever a door is opened, i.e., it is unrestricted as to the timeframe. What am I doing wrong? If From Sunset To Sunrise (next day) And Status 'Door Sensors / Deck Door Sensor' is On Or Status 'Door Sensors / Kitchen Door Sensor' is On Or Status 'Door Sensors / Man Cave Door Sensor' is On Then Repeat 3 times Set 'BuzzLinc' On Set 'BuzzLinc' 2 (Beep Duration) Set 'BuzzLinc' Off Else Set 'BuzzLinc' Off

We have used the Mac since 1986. Today, wife and I have 2 iPhones, an iPad, and iMac and a MacBook Pro. We are, however, not in lockstep with Apple. We use the technology that best suits our needs. For example, we are not interested in a watch that requires us to carry a phone in our pockets! Nor, are we interested in having the most recent device simply for the sake of having it. We migrated from the HUB to the ISY and have not looked back. In fact, we have 2 ISYs, each at different locations. They are rock solid, powerful devices that, coupled with MobiLinc on our iPhones, allow us amazing control over our homes. If the HUB or HomeKit best fits your needs, then that is what you should own. However, I would recommend keeping the ISY until you are certain you have made the best choice.

Problem resolved. I had the polarity reversed. Thanks.

I placed a jumper across GND and N/O on an IOLinc (#2450) and a piezoelectric buzzer (21N30PQ) connected to 5V and COM. The IOLinc linked first try. Turning the device on produced an audible click but no buzzer. Not being familiar with the IOLinc, is there a potential polarity issue since the buzzer has positive and negative posts? Any suggestions?

I am now convinced that the applet cannot be selected in this manner.

Yes, Teken. But the Admin Console does not display among the choices.
