  1. Sounds like a lot of extra work. Alexa. Sort the clothes Alexa. Put the detergent in the washer Alexa. Put fabric softener in the washer. Alexa. Select wash'n wear cycle Alexa. Close the lid Alexa. Wait until I get back to my chair before starting. ....I didn't understand the question Alexa. Wait till I get back to my chair before starting. ....OK Alexa. Why did you stop the washer? ....The previous load of clothes out and the lid won't close. Sounds cool but I wonder if it will extend the washing day into a whole week of laundry. Should be cool to see what develops with this technology. Alexa. Can you abuse me with some other technology that's really cool? Only available to California residents.
  2. Backing up a bit I realised I may not have been too clear on my last post. The contacts I was referring to were the Wall Switch contacts and you didn;t answer the question about how you are running the ioLinc. Anyway, what happens when you operate the ioLinc from the admin console, and what happens after you operate it and then query it? Something is really strange about this due to - two units simultaneously leading one to conclude... - some power spikes got into the electronics but the odd part is your fireplace is likely an isolated millivolt circuit and not liekly to attract a flash through from a powerline spike. We don't know the setup you are using.
  3. Are you running the 5 vdc from the ioLinc across the room to a Decora switch or thermostat? You may need to replace or clean the contacts or retighten the connections after a summer of humidity. It doesn't take much for the very low voltage used for the sensing to "get lost", especially if used with normally 120vac device contacts. It may be possible to get a shot of contact cleaner into the device. You have lots of contacts though.
  4. I find Alexa lies. At times he will say OK and never do anything. At times she will say, "I have found several devices with that name". That's also a lie, meaning she didn't parse the device properly, and gives random error mesages instead of, "I didn't understand" repeatedly. Some words are too hard to parse due to certain sounds, sounding like key phrase words. I was using a variable setting vocalised as "Speed" and Alexa asked me everytime which device I wanted and every....I repeat...every time would do as I asked on the second try. That is something wrong in the algorythm to do that without fail and repeatable over 50-60 times. I have since changed it to "rate"
  5. Most of these videos are staged. We always have to think, 'Why was somebody recording the kid in the first place?' Sent from a tiny keyboard. Response may be brief. Did anybody notice a competitors voice gadget behind it?
  6. Just Dad passing his skills down to his children. Note how so many people were yelling "no..no.." and other uneducated attempts?
  7. The @XXXX is a standard forum trigger to alert the intended XXXX victim. I don't think it works in this forum.
  8. That was only available to Pro users. I am not sure if that still applies.
  9. This cannot be measured as the battery devices are not capable of being "open for business" continously.
  10. Put the batteries back in. It may not be related and you "jogged it's memory", somehow?
  11. It can take more than two degrees to get it to send a temperature update, especially if you are using foreign heat. Sent from a tiny keyboard. Response may be brief. Make sure you handle the blank values in your programs. IIRC it translates to 0 degrees.
  12. I thought Trane was just rebranded Honeywell thermostats. Sent from a tiny keyboard. Response may be brief.
  13. The phrase "latest" is meaningless as Stu posted. Clarification is being requested, that's all. I am running v5.0.8 as the latest version. There is latest release candidate. There is latest official release. There is latest alpha/beta firmware release.

Make sure you clean out your java cache and apps in the Java management app from Control Panel. Then run one of the links supplied with the version release thread. Sent from a tiny keyboard. Response may be brief.
  15. This is thought to be caused by battery operated Insteon devices, with their multiple signal sends, clashing with another signal being sent from ISY and creating an all on signal erroneously. Check your programs for creating this condition. Possible cures is to use scenes between battery devices and intended targets when immediate responses are wanted, And Insert wait delays before echoing responses from ISY. Sent from a tiny keyboard. Response may be brief.

    Java 2+

Oh. I have issues but not like yours, so far. ....................mind moving away some? Sent from a tiny keyboard. Response may be brief.
  17. I was just wondering where you would care about the spelling with Alexa. Are you referring to the Alexa app or Alexa website app? Sometimes more background helps people to give help, workarounds, and alternative methods.
  18. Why do you need correct spelling? sent from a really small mobile keyboard, so may be a short response.
  19. Both of my models have 5v power supplies attached and transmit and received as well as any Insteon device does. Both send updates to ISY within their very poor specs, but only the older one can be controlled from ISY since v3. Some ISY features do not function with the working unit.

    Java 2+

With v5.0.7 I had my win 7 x 32 laptop lock up many times without any method to escape or abort the admin console. Roughly about 6 or 7 times I had to use <cntl><alt><del> to get to the task manager to kill the process before I could gain control of the OS again. I haven't seen it with v5.0.8 yet but I haven't used it much. I haven't seen it lock up, re-login request, hang, blank out the icons at the top, or completely lock up the process yet, even once. java version 8 build 111 loaded Dec 25, 2016 currently. Tonight I had my program load time exceed the java session timeout time and my login credentials were again requested before it could load the programs and variables. It's getting non-functional on slower computers. After a second login the admin console cannot be trusted and needs to be rebooted starting the failure cycle over again. This is a java problem. In the last few years java has become so slow it makes some machine useless.
  21. Welcome to the forum! Check about refusing them at the door or package them and attempt to return them using a silly line like "I though they said they were WiFi. Isn't Insteon a just a brand name?"
  22. Doing the Off timer in ISY allows you to change the time delay. In the middle of the night you may not want you tripp to the toilet to leave the light on for 15 minutes, but during the day you may not want it to keep going off while you sitting motionless on the throne.
  23. If the Off is enabled it is sending an Off everytime it cycles also. It is a lot easier to handle if it only ends an On, everytime it see motion. If you have a long time timer, you should be able to use the conserve function.
  24. The timer is when the Off will be sent. The motion detection blanking is a separate and not user settable timer. IIRC it is about 2 minutes specified in the manual. The two timers are not related.
  25. Another reason not to go to the "dark side" and stay with Insteon, real HA
