I did some investigation into one room where I use light switches, a remote control (via Hue Emulator nodeserver) and some commands/programs via the UD mobile app - it appears that one of 3 Insteon switches for that room does not reliably receive commands - strange, because the other 2 work fine and all 3 are in the same junction box in the room. (These are all dual band switches). I tried turning the circuit breaker on and off, pulling the air gap and doing a "restore device", "write updates to device" and increasing the # of retries to get the switch to work better, but right now the only thing that makes it more reliable is to have the ISY program turn the scene on/off 3X in a row. I am speculating that this may be a problem device and/or use of a wireless hub is less reliable than a wired one. I haven't looked into some of the other weird behaviors yet. Answers to questions - motion sensors are NOT in scenes - dual band devices were rock solid using the ISY and serial PLM

I've been running ISY-Polisy with the 2448A7 after moving from the ISY994+Serial PLM - I have noticed that frequently, motion sensors, remote controls and UD-Mobile are not consistently turning on lights (and other weird behavior) - I re-wrote a program to control the lights in 1 room using UD Mobile and added two sets of commands to set the lights up in the proper state and it works better than the version that only sends one command - this leads me to believe that commands from the 2448A7 are not making it to the devices - I have some questions about this - (1) does the Insteon protocol have an acknowledgement to verify delivery of the command? - (2) Is having the 2448A7 located right next to the Zooz USB stick a problem? - (3) The 2448A7 is within 2-3 feet of a couple of dual band light switches - shouldn't that be sufficient for the RF signal to get to the powerline? - (4) What can I do to improve this problem? (does changing the # of retries under Advanced->PLM communication help?) - (5) Does anyone else see this problem? Thanks in advance for any replies

Thanks for the replies - got it working - it's Local Port 8080 (got confused with new port #'s and conflicts with node servers)

I have the UD Mobile app working with ISY-Polisy under "Remote Connection Settings" but can't figure out the "Local Connection Settings" under Advanced - can someone tell me what to use for the "Local IP Address" and "Local Port" ? or anything else that may be missing? (When I test it says "Error: The Network Connection was lost" - I do have my WiFI SSIDs entered for Local Networks)

I have never heard of or encountered WOL authentication at work or at home and I develop networking/voice products for a living - I have used the ISY WOL feature to wake up PCs and also to turn on LG TVs - WOL should be extremely easy to fix/implement - I have written C code from scratch to generate WOL packets - it's VERY easy
-
OK that didn't work - I think there is a problem with the WOL feature after moving from the ISY994 to the ISY-Polisy
-
OK - Thanks, that works - but - part 2 of the problem - the WOL from the ISY-Polisy is NOT working: I have tried using it from the java Admin Console and the web page using the link above and via ISY Portal and none of them work - is this a possible bug? EDIT: I don't know if this makes a difference, but I have a Ubiquiti UDM-Pro router and two ethernet switches (an 8-port 2.5gig switch and a 24-port gigabit switch) - the PCs are plugged into the 2.5g switch, the Polisy is plugged into the gigabit switch - both switches connect to the UDM-Pro - previously the ISY was plugged directly into the UDM-Pro - in my mind, the WOL packets should reach the PCs in either case, but I can try plugging the Polisy directly into the UDM-Pro tonight when I get home to see if that makes a difference

When I go there, I get /index.htm not found

It appears to me that the Wake on LAN feature of the ISY on Polisy may not be working - I had been using web page access to the ISY when VPNing into my home to wake up my PC so that I may use Remote Desktop. I used to go to the IP address of the ISY and go to "Networking WOL" from the main page. The ISY web page is currently accessible under the ISY Portal under tools->ISY Web Access, but should also be directly accessible at the IP address of the ISY-Polisy, but I don't know the URL. Can someone tell me what the URL is for direct access to the ISY Web Page? More importantly, can anyone confirm that the Wake on LAN feature is not working (because it is not working for me)?

I used this guide yesterday to migrate from the ISY994 to ISY-Polisy - it was extremely helpful a couple of notes that could be added: under "Migration of Polyglot PG2 to new ISY on Polyglot" - the settings are host: localhost, port: 8080, uncheck HTTPS new section - removal/reinstallation of Cloud Nodeservers (Ring+ISY Portal): This can be done after the migration via the ISY admin panel and my.isy.io Everything appears to be working so far...

Migrated to ISY but can't get to Polyglot Cloud - Help!
JTsao replied to JTsao's topic in IoX Support
I opened up a ticket and got a reply within a couple of hours and the Polyglot-Cloud Dashboard was fixed - what I didn't realize is those two nodeservers (ISY Portal and Ring) can be deleted from the ISY Admin Console and my.isy.io - you don't delete them from the cloud dashboard. So if anyone else is wondering about this - you can remove/reinstall those cloud nodeservers after migrating to ISY-Polisy. -
Migrated to ISY but can't get to Polyglot Cloud - Help!
JTsao replied to JTsao's topic in IoX Support
Thanks - I tried that but it is still spinning - one thing I am realizing - I should have probably deleted two cloud nodeservers - the ISY Portal and Ring, before moving from the ISY994 to the Polisy-ISY - any way to delete those after the fact? -
I migrated my ISY994 to the ISY-Polisy this morning - Insteon seems to be working but I can seem to delete or re-do a couple of cloud nodeservers because the Polyglot Cloud dashboard spins (it says "loading") forever. I had the ISY Portal and Ring nodeservers associated with my ISY994. The ISY994 is now off-line (unplugged). Any way to fix this by deleting the nodeservers without powering on the ISY994? How do I get access to the dashboard? Edit: I think the problem is that Polyglot Cloud cannot connect to the ISY-Polisy - any ideas on how to fix?

The only way I can think of controlling lights with a Harmony Hub is to use the dedicated smart home buttons on a companion remote to interact with the Hue emulator node server - is there another way to initiate programs via the Harmony Hub? (besides triggering when activities are started and ended?) I would also be interested in IR on the Polisy - has anyone in this forum ever used a Flirc? It is a popular USB IR Receiver for adding IR capabilities to devices such as the FireTV stick, Nvidia Shield, Raspberry Pi and others - it might be a good candidate for supporting on the Polisy.

Thanks for the info. I received the Zooz stick and noticed the clearance problem as well - still waiting on the 2448A7. Some questions - (1) if I manually unenroll my z-wave devices from the ISY994, then enroll them on the ISY-Polisy, then do a restore of the ISY994 backup on the ISY-Polisy, will that blow away the z-wave setup that I just performed? It's not clear to me what will happen regarding z-wave in this case. (2) Also, is there any special action that has to be taken regarding the Zooz stick? Or 2448A7? Or do I just need to plug them in? I did see the checkboxes to enable Insteon and Z-Wave on the config tab.

I have an ISY994-Pro/IR with the Z-Wave 500 module. I also have Polisy Pro and have ordered a Zooz ZST10 stick and a 2448A7 Insteon USB PLM (wireless only). So, in theory, I can keep my ISY as-is and revert back to it, if the ISY-Polisy experiment doesn't work, right? I understand that z-wave does not port between the ISY and Polisy. That is fine as I have < 10 Z-Wave devices - but I have a lot of Insteon devices. Can someone verify the high level process of migrating to the ISY-Polisy and going back to the ISY994? I think it would work like this (note: not discussing z-wave): 1-Backup ISY; 2-Unplug ISY and old PLM; 3-peform restore of ISY backup to ISY-Polisy; 4-Perform a Restore Modem on ISY-Polisy Then, to go back to the ISY: 1-Unplug 2448A7 PLM; 2-Plug in ISY/Old PLM; 3-Restore Modem on ISY Does the above sound about right? Do I need to do a "Delete Modem" process anywhere? Or can I just make sure that only 1 modem is actually powered on at a time?

some simple "big picture" questions about polisy and polyglot.
JTsao replied to someguy's topic in IoX Support
I am also wondering about all of this - the one thing that I am hopeful for is that the Zooz USB dongle works better and has better range than UDI's z-wave module - so I am considering moving the few z-wave devices that I have over to the ISY on Polisy and keeping the many Insteon devices that I have on the original ISY box, then, perhaps at some point in the future I will move over all of the Insteon stuff - I am using a few IR commands on the ISY as well, so I am looking for something to replace that as well -
Nodeservers won't start after ISY on Polisy Install Procedure
JTsao replied to JTsao's topic in IoX Support
Well, I'll answer my own question - doing a restore backup under Polyglot Settings seems to have repaired the problem - now I have access to both ISYs - will order Zooz stick and wait for now... -
I did this to tryout the ISY on Polisy - curl -s https://pkg.isy.io/script/update121.sh | sudo bash sudo shutdown -r now cat /usr/local/etc/udx.d/static/update13.sh | sudo bash sudo shutdown -r now - now none of my nodeservers will start - getting errors in log file indicating "no module named polyinterface" and "no module named pgc_interface" - Can anyone suggest how to correct? - I'm OK just going back and NOT trying this as it appears dangerous
-
Thanks - that works - you also have to delete the nodeserver on the ISY, then restart Polyglot - then the node server disappears - one strange thing, the MyQ (12) nodeserver got deleted but something re-created the folder - I am going to try and re-delete
-
OK so I went ahead and restored an old backup which had 10 of my 12 nodeservers and things are mostly back, however, I cannot delete and re-install node servers 11 and 12 because they were added after the backup - can someone tell me how to delete corrupted nodeservers from my configuration?
-
Also, I can't access the settings->Polisy Configuration page
-
I was not able to log into my Polisy Pro so I SSH'ed and did this procedure from the Wiki sudo service mongod status. If it's not running, then: sudo rm -rf /var/db/mongodb sudo reboot Now, I can't get any status on my nodeservers - although it seems they are running from the ISY's standpoint - my login credentials have reverted back to admin/admin - haven't backed up the Polisy in a long while - is there a way to fix this without re-installing and re-configuring all my node servers? (I had 12 nodeservers)

I have an almost fully automated home - almost every light and fan switch is an Insteon dimmer or on/off switch - I have been experiencing an annoying problem for some time now - sometimes (almost) everything in the house turns on at once; this includes lighting, ceiling fans, bathroom fans and plug-in on/off modules. When this happens, it seems to be an Insteon broadcast type of command doing this because it is virtually instantaneous - I have no idea why this is happening, nor how to reproduce or capture the event in the ISY. The only consistency that I have observed is that it is far more likely to happen during the day when people are moving about inside the house, opening doors and turning things on and off. I can only recall 1 time where it happened in the middle of the night. I do have a few motion sensors which are not themselves in any scenes - I rely on programs to turn on lights via motion. Also, I do not have any scenes containing all of the equipment that turns on, which is strange. The largest scenes that I have are for lighting only (Interior, Exterior, Upstairs, Downstairs) - then I have scenes for all Ceiling Fans, and all bathroom Fans. Motion detectors are NOT tied to scenes because I have different programs for late night vs daytime behavior (I don't want any blinding light turning on in the middle of the night). BTW - I have both an ISY994 with IR/Z-Wave, a Polisy Pro running several nodeservers and about 10-12 Z-Wave devices. This problem occurs intermittently, sometimes I have seen it happen as often as 2x a day, but then sometimes it won't happen for 1-2 weeks. My theory is that there is an Insteon message being sent by the ISY and some bits get corrupted and the message gets interpreted as some kind of global ON message. Any suggestions on how to debug/capture the event causing this? Or how to perhaps avoid it? (Should I remove scenes containing a lot of devices?) Or programmatic ways of detection and mitigation?
