I still use it for summary reports, and the very limited remote controlling I do. Its been great that HAD pages can be loaded remotely through the portal, so I don't have to open any router ports. Given that functionality I'm not looking for it to be enhanced; status quo is great Paul

All of them. The ISY programs scene links into the devices that work across devices, just like manual linking... standard insteon. The PLM and ISY could die, and the three ways will continue to function. This was important to me as I traveled a lot for my work and wanted my family to have working lighting always.
-
The ISY becomes the insteon network manager. You want to use the ISY. Direct linking works at the switches... but the ISY will not see that, or be able to control it with programs .... nixing the benefit of having a smart controller running your network. Paul

+ 1 for @DennisC's suggestion. I've used this for a number of years and its flexible and makes programs easy to write... and read / understand years after you wrote them Paul

Hi Tim and welcome to the UDI Forums! Yes. I've had my 994I for 5 years and have never used UPNP. Its a "left over" option from years ago. I give the ISY a static DHCP entry IP address from my router's reserved address function and have the ISY set for DHCP. I don't know that particular router, but the ISY will behave like other internet appliances Paul

No. Unless you have hundreds of devices and scenes already, that could be using up a lot of plm memory, the best way is to create multiple scenes with significant overlap. and use them in programs individually. Doing that won't hurt anything and will provide the instant performance insteon is known for All lights scene is the way to go Paul

I'd open a ticket. The isy considers those valid devices and is not finding their configurations. That's very likely what's causing the problems. I would open a ticket as something else could be wrong too. Paul

The directions are here under remote admin console access. Step 4 is tricky, you need to be sure that you formatted the url in the ISY Finder or Launcher exactly right using your UUID with and without colons and it sounds to me like that is the problem. Please run through those steps again. For example, if your ISY's UUID is: 12:34:56:78:90:12, enter in the following: https://123456789012.admin.mobilinc.io/isy/12:34:56:78:90:12/desc Also, this was posted under ISY Portal, which is a separate product from the Mobilinc Portal. Assuming you mean / want Mobilinc Portal. Tagging @InsteonNut who is the product owner of Mobilinc Paul

Hi Let's clarify what you are trying to do: Access the admin console (remotely?) and manage your ISY? ..or.. Use mobilinc (remotely?) to control devices in your house? Paul
-
Insteon scenes are are activated by the switch only at the physical action of the switch and not by remotely activating the switch from the ISY (or other controller) You need to turn the scene on and off with your program Paul

This is true less often but sometimes and easy to try; Restore device on the main switch and see if that helps.
-
Sometimes, the devices that are linked are much further away from the ISY, signal wise, than the controlling swithclinc. If you have a spare plugin module to try in the area that could help. Sometimes the load can overwhelm marginal signals... low voltage transformers, fans, etc. However typically the problems with load are with turning it off only, not both on and off Paul

Interesting. My firm provides us the full version hiya for this purpose. It never caught a thing, but granted I don't get frequent unknowns on my phone. What I found out about for ios, that bugs me, is that the foreground app has to to be kept running in order for it to receive updates. I just switched to android and will try it again Paul

My new favorite - when calls get past noborobo Ring Me: "Hello?" Them: "Hello, before I start, I want to make sure. Can you hear me ok?" Me: "I can hear you" Them: "Our process requires a yes or no response" Me: "Thanks for calling! I've been trying to reach you about your vehicles extended warranty" (sometimes I just lead with this one)

+1 Yes - this. I have my own CM too. I love it when I call to get updates on an outage and their agents try to stuff in marketing in the end... "Do you know about our Xfinity wifi modem <whatever>" "Yes" "Don't you want one? Lot's of people in your area are getting one" "No. Lots of people in my area filed bankruptcy and defaulted on their mortgages 10 years ago. I did neither of those" You can guess where it went from there ? Paul

Agree with Brian and Michael. I have a original B+ and a 2B. The 2B is my "prod" nodelink and ployglot box. I forget about it sometimes because I never log into it. No need. I went through an overclocking period early on but then decided its prod and things already run fast. I had no problem overclocking though. Per Michael's comments I get very good SD card. I've proactively swapped those out once in 6 years. Paul

One more benefit of your own router is being ISP agnostic. The more iot I have, the more router configs, etc. I don't want the 2 mixed up. Replace your modem and that's all I need Paul

Did you contact spectrum for a replacement? If not, i have Asus RTAC88. I've had it for several years and updates continue to come out for it. It has the trend micro security module which blocks known bad sites and had IDS (threat visibility) and 2 way IPS (threat control). I configured the router to send threat alerts via email to my pushover account, so they're integrated with my other home messages and alerts. It has a complete but relatively simple interface and a lot of configuration can be done if you wish. Some other benefits: it has an 8 switch ports built in and I also have a 500gb SSD drive attached for my home files. You can also QOS prioritize devices like tvs. I found it to be a good compromise, both in price and effort to maintain, between an entry level cheap router and a high end home dedicated firewall. I am using the Merlin WRT FW for it but I believe most of the features are available stock Paul

Welcome to the UDI forums! The Home Automation Dashboard (HAD), which is a more sophisticated ISY web page which can be served by the ISY. Its the optional interface presented behind the button in the default admin page and comes loaded on the ISY. There is a transparent proxy feature that logs in with no account and password, if you host on your own server - which makes sense if you're local. Check the wiki here You can customize the page for your own purposes. I made a version of it for presenting HVAC runtime info a few years ago and still use it from time to time. You can even get the pages from the internet, through the ISY portal if you host them on the ISY. Paul

There was a user that brought up several times that locative does not work on V5 sans portal. Not sure what happened with that. Like Simplextech, I used locative with the ISY portal for a long time and it works well. Recently switched to android so I'm going to install the ISY android geofence app. Paul

Flame paint job? Headers and dual exhaust? Paul

Its a link to the zip file with the FW version appropriate for an insteon only setup. When I click it, it downloads that zip file to my download folder... That file is what you point the UI at for a manual upgrade... assuming you've backed up what you have and work through the different existing UI and FW issue. Paul

No, I've never had to update it. Can you show me the icon you click to start up when you see a different firmware and UI?
