Got an email from smarthome with devices from following link mentioned -- they mention ISY. Anyone planning to try them? I'm interested in the temperature sensor. http://www.smarthome.com/69532/Cao-Gadg ... ler/p.aspx http://www.smarthome.com/69531/Cao-Gadg ... Tag/p.aspx

Thanks. That's what I thought but wanted expert opinion.

Lee, thanks for module. I will order it. To be clear, My underlying question is do you think many av devices could randomly generate insteon traffic?
-
My media room has all AV devices for house that are rack mounted and routed via cat 6 to other rooms. A Mid Atlantic power strip provides power for all of devices and the strip is plugged into a noise filter. Right next to it is the ISY (routed IR is attached to it from AV Rack) with about a 15 ft cat6 cable to PLM (get if away from RF interference) PLM is plugged into an extension cord that is plugged into separate outlet right next to power strip noise filter. The two outlets are supposed to be on separate breakers but I've never tested. The outlet that power strip is plugged in is shared circuit between other AV locactions in house to reduce likelihood of ground loops -- but I digress. The HDMI matrix switcher sometimes needs full power cycle to get all back in sync (EDID issues) but it is plugged into MA power strip and so insteon path is blocked. I've been waiting for an appliancelinc with RF so I could plug it into power strip on noisy side of noise filer. Since the Dual band applianclinc has never arrived, I am considering using appliancelinc and accesspoint to create my own. First, would/could this cause trouble by generating phantom RF insteon traffic based on what it might hear from all those devices? Secondly, thoughts on other methods to accomplish this?

Looking at thermostat screen is how I arrived at the phantom and bad set point naming scheme. Phantom is in log, corrected by query, but not displayed on thermostat. Bad are in log, not corrected by query, and is displayed on thermostat.

Michel: I replaced thermostat adapters with Rev 2.5 (firmware v.95) and the issue still occurs. From the original posting and what I've seen recently, it appears the adapter may be corrupting the setpoints when it receives a command to change mode from ISY. Originally it was setting thermostat mode and this time we've added fan mode. In following log, the repeats that are 10 seconds apart of setting fan mode existed as insurance but I've removed them. Thanks, Paul

I assumed it worked so we are done.

I'm replacing 3 thermostat adapters. As I remember, it is best to turn thermostat to off mode and link using the new insteon device, key in address, and auto discovery of type. What I don't rememberer is does replace device work well with thermostat adapters? Thanks

Michel: I was luck and never purchased any of the SignalLincs. I've tried distances from 6 inches to 20 feet. Yes, accesspoints show activity with remotelinc. In fact, even after mutiple factory resets the all lights on and off buttons still control lights in that room but the individual buttons do not work. As I mentioned, this particular RL has always been tempermental but within 10 minutes I could get it to communicate. It is more like that even though I press and hold buttons until it blinks to say in linking mode -- it is not in linking mode. I'll just buy replacement if I can find one. My wife hates the RemoteLinc2 and I was not impressed either. Thanks, Paul

Lee. Yes I'm using dim& bright and have Replaced batteries.

I have a Remotelinc that is 3 to 4 years old and has always been very temperamental about going into linking mode so I can program it. I've always just tried a several times and it would eventually work. But tonight after replacing PLM, I can't get the d%^& thing to talk to ISY. Are there any tricks others have discovered? I placed it near an access point that just flawlessly updated two other Remotelincs.
-
medicmjc, it worked like a charm! The ISY product, support, customer service, ongoing updates, and UD in general are the very best. User community is very knowledgable and always ready with quick help -- doesn't get any better. Thanks

I just completed PLM replace and the only device refusing to be updated is a morninglinc v.3A. When it refused to restore initally and after several attempts to write update, I did factory reset on MorningLinc (held set button 10 seconds while and after plugging in) and then selected Restore Device. May have made things worse since in thinking about it I'm guessing the original PLM link replacement "commands" are still in queue to be written. What should I do now? I was having an issue (did not work) with a scene that was controlled by RemoteLinc. I removed the RemoteLinc button from the scene. Next I reset RemoteLinc to factory defaults and then restored it (ISY Restore Device). Before I put it back in scene I wanted to confirm -- is following normal for On button press of an unlinked button on RemoteLinc? Random. Has happened twice in last week and a half.

Per original posts at start of thread, the issue still exists with 3.3.10 -- maybe I'll still get to swap thermostat adapters again . I don't have detailed logs but still have program running that looks for the condition. Log entries below: Master Suite / Master Bedroom:Thermostat Heat Setpoint 168â–‘ Thu 2013/03/07 11:13:21 AM System Log Master Suite / Master Bedroom:Thermostat Status Queryâ–‘ Thu 2013/03/07 11:13:21 AM Program Log Master Suite / Master Bedroom:Thermostat Heat Setpoint 40â–‘ Thu 2013/03/07 11:13:25 AM System Log Master Suite / Master Bedroom:Thermostat Status Queryâ–‘ Thu 2013/03/07 11:13:26 AM Program Log What can I provide so we can find the issue?

I have a Honeywell whole house humidifier that is part of a two zone HVAC system. The humidifier is controlled by a Vanstar thermostat with humidity control option. It signals the humidifier and turns on the HVAC fan as required for Zone 1. In order to have fan in zone 2 be "on" (damper open to both zones), I installed a relay hooked to an IOLinc that detects when the humidifer is called for so IOLinc sends singal to ISY program that sets fan to "ON" or "Auto" on zone 2s thermostat. Is that clear as mud? The issue I noticed is that as the humidity nears the set point the humidifier cycles off and on in 3 or 4 minutes cycles and hence so does the HVAC fan. So to prevent short cycling, I changed the simple program that controls the fan to include a 20 minute wait before it sets Fan Mode to "Auto". Thoughts or suggestions? Thanks If Status 'Crawl Space / Crawl Space:Humidifier Sensor' is On Then Set 'Master Suite / Master Bedroom:Thermostat' Fan On Else Wait 20 minutes Set 'Master Suite / Master Bedroom:Thermostat' Fan Auto

Thanks. I checked PLM count few weeks ago and many links left so I just did a restore device for each switch and it fixed problem. Do we know why device links go missing and/or corrupted?

I have a scene in bathroom that controls 3 lights. There are 4 realays. Two of them are in a scene as controllers for 1 light and the other two relays control one light each. Of those two other relays, one is also controller of a scene that turns all bathroom lights on so it is a load only for one light and scene controller for a scene at same time. Other three switches are responders to all lights scene. So to turn on only light above bathtub means turn on that switch and then turning off two others (not a problem). The problem is that turning on/off the all lights scene does not register any lights as on/off at the ISY but doing a query updates scene and all switches to correct state. Turned on event viewer at level 3 and it shows no activity when all lights scene is turned on/off. Also turning off a single switch for single control light in same room does noy register with ISY. Other than showing incorrect status not a big deal since nothing is controlled by their state. However, what should I do to diagonse and then correct. The switches all instantly respond to all switches scene command but none of them update isy and yet I can query them.

I've been getting the message in image since I moved to using mutiple user accounts on Windows 7 -- admin and user. I log in as user account to make PC more secure by requiring admin password be typed rather than simple select Yes at User Access Control. Especially since family / friends kids use while visiting. I've tried creating the console link in both user and admin accounts and get same results. Also, I've selected run as adminsitrator but then I have to type admin password eacch time (which may not be bad idea). Regardless, what have I missed that would keep this message from being required? Thanks

I want to create programs to set LED levels for day and night and have a mixture of KeypadLincs, Relays, and Dimmers from a few Firmware levels. Would someone post a simple example of how they handle this. MY simple asssumption is that it is just programs with a long list of set commands for each device triggered at sunrise and sunset but wanted to see what others with more knowledge had already accomplished. Thanks
