okay, thank you all very much. This is exactly what I was looking for and the fact that it cannot be turned accidentally turned off is great.

I was thinking that it would be helpful to know how often my sump pump usually runs and set up some programs that send an alert to me if it ran too long or too often? how could my ISY know that my Sump pump is running though?

Leak Sensors - Another (Suggested) Complete Program Package
someguy replied to rabbit1543's topic in ISY994
Rabbit: I do greatly appreciate your time and efforts in sharing this programming with us in the forum. I've put it into place in my system. (for interest sake: I'm using my system to detect rain water leaking into my basement.) I have a simple question: how do I "repair" a leak? Does this happen when a leak sensor gets dried out (or dried off by me) or is it necessary to press the button on top of the unit? -
I was sleeping away and I was the only person home and at 5:00am, all of the Insteon lights went on in my entire house (about 30-40 switches). My PLM is: about eight months old. the stickers say: 2413S V2.2 1622 Any suggestions? (by the way, doing a search for "all on" and for "PLM All on" doesn't bring any useful information)

Steven: as far as this step goes: can you expound on how to do this using GitHub, HeidiSQL, MariaDB and Python? I don't understand what you mean here. thanks again, Steven.
-
Steven: I appreciate your assistance with this. I am using Windows 10. I have thus far installed: GitHub, HeidiSQL, MariaDB and Python. Quite frankly, I'm not completely sure what any of these things really are or do. on this: when I click on the above https:// link, it takes me to the gibhub page of stevenmcastano and then I click the green "clone or download" box and then click "open in desktop" and then that causes my "GitHub" to open with what I believe is a repository called "ISY-iCloud-Proximity". So I guess that I've accomplished this number 2 step here.

my PLM says: (I believe this means the 22nd week of 2016) I am using ISY firmware: Insteon_UD994 v.4.5.3

(pretend like i'm a little kid that doesn't understand this stuff at all) I did number one and they seem to have installed. I used MariaDB I'm not sure how to do numbers 2, 3 and 4. should I give up or is there another (dumber) explanation for how to do this stuff.

I simply got rid of some redundant scenes by deleting them and use ISY for scenes that weren't as important.

It is brand new. Version 2.2. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It is a brand new PLM and it worked fine for a month. And... this same thing happened with another PLM in the past. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I just noticed that my PLM was not getting any information from my insteon devices. Nothing that I did in the house registered in ISY. I restarted both the ISY and the PLM and nothing changed. I ran the "show PLM links table" and it showed TWO LINKS. (to solve the problem, I clicked "restore PLM" and it now has 281 links. It is worthy of note that this happened to my about five or so years ago and I the support that I got from Universal Devices and Smarthome resulted in me being given an Insteon Hub that i used until I had a recent problem. I then switched back to a regular PLM about a month ago and this problem of my PLM forgetting my links has come back. It makes me think that it is somehow my ISY's fault. I have a 994i and am on software 4.5.3. I appreciate any help as I expect that this will business of the PLM forgetting all of it's links will happen over and over again like it did five years ago.

I tried changing the unit to one of the three options (four scene, or one of the 8 scene options) and none of them "take". when I click the radio button while the unit is in programming mode, the radio button won't stay clicked. I believe there is a bug in ISY.
-
I don't think I need the trim kit. The unit works without it. I don't want to reset it because I already have it programmed to my ISY. I'll try changing these settings and see what it does.
-
what I am saying is that I have a two button switch. The ISY knows that I have a two button switch (because it can read the model number as a 2342-242) but the ISY is giving me options for a four or eight button switch. I believe that the ISY programming is wrong.
-
led and beep are self explanatory, but ISY gives me these options for settings for the switch: 4-scene 8-scene toggle 8-scene non-toggle The pdf on insteon.com indicates that the options should be: 1 scene (default) 2 scene toggle 2 scene non-toggle. page 9 of this document: http://cache.insteon.com/documentation/2342-x42-en.pdf

jzsjr: where, exactly, did you connect the yellow wire?
-
I just had a generac 22KW guardian generator installed and I was thinking of using the ideas presented in this thread. I'd like to make sure I understand what you guys are proposing with this INSTEON REMOTE CONTROL MICRO ON/OFF SWITCH ADAPTER: http://www.smarthome.com/insteon-2443-222-micro-on-off-module.html I would connect it as follows: I would connect the neutral and line (top and bottom poles on the unit) to power that comes from an outlet or other source that would be powered when the house is being powered by EITHER THE GENERATOR OR THE UTILITY. I would connect the yellow "sense" wire to the positive side in the generator that is only energized when the generator is running. three questions: 1) Am I understanding this correctly? 2) this would send an "on" signal when the generator is running and the rest of the time it would send an "off" signal, right? 3) does anyone know where I should hook up the yellow wire in my transfer switch?

Okay, I figured out the problem. My problem was somehow that Alexa just doesn't like the combination of "Audio Video" and "off", I guess. It will take "Alexa, turn on audio video" but will not accept "Alexa, turn off audio video". I moved the same commands to "TV" and it works to say "Alex, turn on the TV" and it also works to say "Alexa, turn off the TV". and the OFF runs the ELSE set of commands. I think the lesson learned is that Alexa is kind of particular about the choice of words in the commands.
-
when I say "Alexa turn audio video off" it doesnt work. Alexa says that it doesn't understand / can't do it. Is there a way to say "off" for a program to run with Alexa? It seems that "off" for a program does NOT run the "else" commands of a program with Alexa.
-
I have a program that I've tagged "audio Video" in my ISY and when it runs, it turns off my TV and audio receiver. to get this program to run, I have to say "Alexa, turn audio video ON" and it turns them off by running the program. Is there any way to get the Echo to run the "else" part of a program by saying "Off" or some other way of doing so? It just bugs me that I'm saying "ON" to get it to run the program to get it to turn things off.

Okay, thank you. that seems to work now. (I'll know for sure when I try my work computer at work this week)

Paul: I guess I am already stuck because I don't know how to (#2) "Startup the Admin Console on your remote system". How do I do that? I only startup an admin console while on my home network by clicking on the web link.
