I had some more intermittent trouble getting in to my ISY remotely again this morning. It was giving the same errors, but after three or four tries, it worked. I checked my IP Address and it has not changed for months or longer. Does this still sounds like a dynamic dns problem? If so, what is the work-around?
-
when I was getting those errors, the admin console would open up with no data in it and the errors overtop. I tried getting in again now and it works fully and normally. does it still sound like a dddns problem?

Java version 7 update 5. not sure on ISY, but within a few months old version. can't access it now to find out.

I am trying to access my ISY and I get these errors: XML Parse Error https://url.com:443/desc then after I click okay on that, it says: Socket Open Failed java.lang.NullPointerException suggestions?

so a keypadlinc that is already associated with an ISY would need to be removed, then the buttons changed and then reassociated with the ISY and then the ISY would recognize him/her for who he/she is?
-
I read that a 6 button can be changed to an 8 button keypadlinc. And vice versa. 1). How do you do that to the switch? 2). How do you get isy to see 8 buttons/nodes instead of 6 or vice-versa?

So do the top and bottom buttons' backightl only have on or off capability?
-
I guess I wasn't specific enough. I am wanting to know how to control the backlight for the bigger buttons for the 6 button keypadlinc. Is it the same as the other four buttons? (I'm not using the switch to control anything, just using it with isy.

How are the load buttons controlled? Can they be turned on and off independently? If so, how? The same as the other buttons?
-
so, is there a way to make one of the individual buttons go to a bright or dim setting similar to pressing the button without pressing the button (i.e. using a program)? If so, how.

If - No Conditions - (To add one, press 'Schedule' or 'Condition') Then Set 'Hearth Keypad / Hearth Keypad' On 15 / Off 0 (Backlight Level) Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') There is an On and an Off level? Is there a separate light for each button? When I set the buttons to non-toggle, each press is read as an "off" by ISY, it seems. why is this? thanks for any help.

is there a way to type into a browser URL that will make the ISY do anything (run a program)?

I've had quite a bit of luck getting my ISY to cause my Redeye to do things, but haven't started in on trying to get my Redeye to cause my ISY to do things.

Simple questions?: 1) Is a press and hold the bottom of on a switchlinc dimmer read as "Dim" or "Face Down"? What is the other one used for, BTW? 2) If I press and hold this button, using the program below, it seems to only send the command once no matter how long I hold the button. How could I get it to repeat it self while I'm holding the button? If Control 'Hearth / Hearth-3-West Light, by TV' is switched Fade Down Or Control 'Hearth / Hearth-3-West Light, by TV' is switched Dim Then Resource 'Receiver Volume Down' Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action')

simple question have simple answers, right? Here goes: Here is my program: If Control 'Hearth / Hearth-3-West Light, by TV' is switched Fade Down Or Control 'Hearth / Hearth-3-West Light, by TV' is switched Dim Then Resource 'Receiver Volume Down' Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') questions: 1) when I press and hold the down button on a switchlinc dimmer is that interpreted as "fade down" or "dim" by the dimmer? What is the other one used for then? 2) When I press and hold the button, is the "resource 'receiver volume down'" going to happen only once, no matter how long I hold it? Would a repeat work to get the volume to go down for as long as I hold the button? Better ideas?

I (recently) figured out how to get my isy to control my "Redeye" remote control device to run my ir equipment using the isy's network module.
-
okay, thanks guys.

I was considering buying a KeypadLinc and I recall quite a bit of headaches with making them work with ISY. Are we past this? Is the 6 or 8 button keypadlinc any better for function?

Michel: Is there a tutorial or something that you can point me to? I have a 2411T and would like to use the network module to control it.

I've had two episodes where my PLM lost touch with my network. Once was after an update. Other time was arbitrary. Ive had her for 3-5 years, is she getting old and forgetful? (joke) If you suggest replacing it, which model should I go with? Or am I overreacting?

I just installed a couple of webcams and I was curious as to whether the ISY can control or be used with the webcams in any useful way?

Is there a certain "whole-house" suppressor that will clean up noise coming into a house? I'd like to look into this to protect my house, but also to (have the hope of) decreasing my signal problems.
-
Okay, thank you. I've done this and it seemed to go fine. I'm not at home now, so will have to "test" it tonight. thanks again.

No, it was not reset. When I click this restore PLM, it tells met hat I need to put all of my Motion Sensors in connect mode. I've tried something like this once before and it seemed that as I put the second and third one into link mode, they seemed to affect one another. Any advice there?

I upgraded to 3.2.6 and every single one of my insteon devices could no longer communicate with my isy. I am currently going in and clicking, one by one to "restore" them. Is there a better way?
